And yet another episode conveniently using violence to solve problems then using uninspired contrivance to suggest that pacifism can work if you'll only give it the chance. What exactly IS wrong with vengeance? I'd be far more interested in a show that explored this issue. If it WERE so morally objectionable, I doubt movies like "Law Abiding Citizen" and "Taken" would not be so popular.

Incidentally, I read the first part of Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule and decided I didn't like it. So the fact that I'm watching this series, to me suggests, that if it is a departure from the books, it is a welcome one.

Using vengeance as a tool is much like being your own lawyer: you don't have enough of a dispassionate perspective to see what alternative course of action (whether that also employes violence or not) might be more effective in achieving the primary goal, i.e. protecting your people.

If Richard's bluff hadn't work, then there would have been a big battle that would have seen a lot of innocents killed.

I disagree. The decision to commit vengeance can be made very dispassionately, or it can be heat-of-the-moment. It can be just, or it can be unjust. But the point I was trying to make is that it's annoying to me how shows like this, Star Trek, and others depict characters never compromising their ideals and still achieving the best possible outcome, despite the fact that in real life there are always trade offs and unintended consequences. At least 24 shows consequences, even for right choices.

What in tarnation is going on here? This has nothing to do with ANY of Terry Goodkind's novels. Nonetheless, I'll have to watch the show any ways because I'm finished reading all of the series. I can't believe I'm finally done them. I think I liked Wizard's First Rule and the last three books best. The other ones were also good but not AS good. And do Richard and Kahlan get married in the TV Series like they do in the book series? That would be awesome! I hope they do. It would be worth it then.

it. its like taking a picture and trying to copy it but drawing a totaly different picture, it just doesn't make any sense at all i seriously hope that they will get the backround story back on track instead of trying to turn it into some other thing that started of as legend of the seeker/sword of truth series. i know im rambilin on and not many people even care and that people will turn around and say why watch it then? if you read what i have said then you will know why.

today i finished reading the last book (confessor). its bugging me now because there isnt going to be anymore of them so i as counting on the tv series to live up to the books. I think the t.v series is good but thats not the problem, most people dont care that its good at the moment, most people are just anoyyed because its really messed up. The TV show and the books are really worlds apart... it's true the show pulls in some of the book ideas but so far the show has twisted what it takes from the books. Sisters of the light have already been established quite different than in the books, and did anyone catch in ep 3 that everyone seemed to accept the idea that Kahlan could confess twice immediately in a row without a rest period in between?!? Certainly not book canon, but still enjoying both TV and Book versions.

Looking forward to this. This reminds me of a Plot in an entire book. Which means the introduction to Nicci is coming soon

If it's going to follow the books storyline at all, Kahlan will be injured near the end of this episode, richard will be disheartened by the fact the people in this episode behaved and won't save people that act that way

He, Kahlan, and cara head to isolation to allow Kahlan to heal. When she does, Nicci shows up, kidnapping richard, and there's nothing cara or Kalan can do

Ah, you are being literal to the books, I just say they could use the outline of that book in order to create an interesting episode.

I know they won't make Kahlan pregnant. Not until Shota gives them the warning that it will be a male confessor.

And that I believe they would keep in the series because it would add alot of Drama.

Now that's sounds like a good story, I hope they'll use some of that in the series. The trailer for this was very poor, more needs to happen in one episode, there must be more intrigues between the characters. I'm not complaining on the episodes before this but this trailer sucks...

That's really getting ahead of where the TV show is though as they have not even introduced the imperial order yet.... the main 'quest' for the stone of tears is best fit to book 2 but they already set up the sisters of the light differently than we see in book 2.

Heck Richard has not even accepted the throne yet on the series. Which I believe is the key to why the prophecy isn't what it sounds like.

Richard Cipher may be said to fail but what if he becomes Richard Rahl. :-) Just my theory.
