As a student violinist and a bit of an amateur, I was wondering if quality of a violin is a major factor in a performance. Does a good violin (great tone, vibration, etc.) make the performance sound better? Or if it lessens the amount of effort you have to put in to play very well than you would with a bad violin? Although I also believe that the musician is as good as the violin. Sorry if this question seems a bit selfish and lazy, but I was just wondering. Btw, AMAZING SOLO. I LOVE IT.
@eboyinc I am sorry , but ...You should listen to Leonid Kogan and David Oystrakh playing this thing . And look very attentively , what is written by Chaikovsky . Where is forte , where must be piano , if it is necessary to make ritenuto or markato . And so on ... My best wishes !
wow beautiful i use to play the violin for 6 years of my life and then stopped. I havent played it since 2005 but watching this piece brings back memories. Beautiful!!!
wow ur really good :O I just started trying to teach myself this piece and i was wondering how u played the part at 0:18 i forgot what its called...was it spicatto? im not sure...
@freckleface96 -- yep, spicatto. think it, don't force it. spicatto is one of the most natural bow strokes, but it can't be forced. you know what you want it to sound like, right...just make it happen. good luck on the piece!
hi mae, i'll see if i can find it, but we pick the sheet music out of a boxes where its all just piled in with no order. there are about 12 boxes of music, so finding anything is a challenge. i'm still trying to find the tartini for you :D
very good.you and your brother are very good like virtuosos.how old are you guys? How long did you play the violin?why do you have access to all these antique violins?Do you have an expensive violin yourself?
Anyways from wathcing you and your brother's videos,I can tell that you guys are very talented.I am a violinist myself and you guys are an inspiration to me.Good work. This piece is not easy with the 2 flats and a lot of vibrato.
hey thanks. my brother is awsome. we're just doing the sound samples for fun. the violins are part of a private collection. my personal violin is not expensive, but maybe someday I'll be able for afford a good one. glad you like the videos. you should post--let me know when you do.
you have a good ear...you always spot the really good ones. this is a mid 20th century italian violin. beautiful sound, i agree.
we have a state orchestra competition the 2nd week of december. maybe we'll each play a portion on a video of the audition piece on one of these estate violins :D
this is my brother who i predict is going to be a famous soloist someday...he plays with wonderful expression, loads of emotion all held together by technical excellence and precision :D
