  • Who plays these Videos certainly not Mtv this much is for certain.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great song better album

  • rush released there first album in 1974, so today its 37 years total, and there fan base is still growing.

avicci, skrillex,deadmau5,usher,lady gaga etc could never do that in a million years

    rush all the way

  • does semi mean half ?

  • does semi mean half ?

  • squeezenol

  • HALF THE U.S. POPULATION PAY TAXES, WHILE THE OTHER HALF SIT ON THEIR ASS!!!!!!!!!

  • lol underwear at 1:34! I'm so immature.

  • Yes it's a hemisphere and their using a method of their album hemispheres in this song

  • half the world... isnt that a hemisphere? interesting...

  • 0 dislikes? Woah, do we see a moron filtered world already? :o

  • It actually sounds a lot better in this quality...

  • I remember hearing this song when I was 5...that was the first time I ever thought of music as "music." Still listening to them almost 13 years later.

  • look its howard stern!

  • I agreeeeeeee!!! The best band with the best songs! Isn't great?

  • Just love Rush!

  • As usual Rush is the messenger of thruth. Eh?

  • @timberlars no doubt aboot it, buddy.

  • cities full of shit dressed in kingly guise

  • Never thought this song had a video, so cool! I probably would have liked this song a lot when I was 5, but had no idea at the time about this band. Well not counting the Moving Pictures songs I heard on the classic rock radio, that I thought were by Heart since Geddy Lee sounds like a girl.

  • once again showin up all those alternative bands by doing it there way

  • My god...has it been 15 years?

  • this is the album that introduced me to this amazing band :)

  • I live on Rush and want all there albums play ed at my wake when I die of old age.

  • worst sounding rush album ever!

  • @satamique So not Caress of Steel?

  • @ilewczyn The guitar sound wonderful on Caress of steel! so much better than Test for echo!

  • @satamique That honor goes to Vapor Trails. I can say the worst Rush album ever. I only like maybe four songs on it. The four I do like were better on Rush in Rio, R30 and also in their remixed state on Retrospective 3. Given that VT was their first album after Neil Peart's tragedies I give them benefit of doubt as Snakes and Arrows was best album since Test For Echo (which had no weak moments in my view).

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster VT only isn't all that good sounding in it's original state because it was mixed poorly

  • @Midnaslove Some tunes like "Ceiling Unlimited" sounded like "I Will Follow" by U2, I think the title track so-to-speak sounded musically like Tantric's one hit "Breakdown" which was popular at the time VT was recorded.

  • we are all try ing to reach the other half

  • ironically close to being half as long as Kansas's "All the World"....

  • Neil's daughter accompanied him on much of the Test for Echo tour. This song was most definitely written before his wife and daughter died. They were originally going to take a couple of months off after this tour and jump right back into the studio to write a new album. They had enough musical material to make Test for Echo a double album, but they did not want to hurry or force the lyrics. Alas, we'll never know what that album would have been like.

  • @dotsmurd who is neil and why did his wife and daughter die?

  • @77REVOLTFORAFRIKA77 Neil is the drummer/lyricist. His daughter died in a car crash and soon after his wife got cancer and died.

  • @Dillbob1 THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME!

  • Rush is still the best power trio of the World.

  • @egresso Yes, they are the perfect mix :)

  • I love this song and music Video! Rush is such an awesome band! From what I can understand, this song was written either before or after Neil's wife and daughter passed aweay. Very good song, by the way.

  • @danawilli05 Before

  • @danawilli05 After his wife and daughter passed away, he didn't write anything music-wise until they rejoined for the vapor trails lbum.

  • Poignant lyrics <3

  • Love Test for Echo. It's such an underrated album.

  • If 1/2 the world listened to RUSH the whole world would be a much better place

  • @Lakerloon How true that really is!!

  • @Lakerloon you are more than half right!!

  • @TheErnst1969

    Half of me is moaning

  • @Lakerloon yeah the way I see it is you can listen to your rap and all that! BUT at the same time people NEED to listen to rush to understand that they're being cheated by the music there listening to with just "simple beats" it's actually kinda sad!

  • Man...Im listening to Rush the whole day as Im at work. If I could smoke some weed also, Id be epic. Now its only great. :D

  • rush is beautiful

  • Sometimes I find it amazing that this song is from the same group that brought us the likes of Caress of Steel, Fly By Night, Hemispheres, etc.!

  • Sometimes I find it amazing that these are the same guys who put out stuff like Caress of Steel and Fly by Night!

  • Thou shalt shut the fuck up and listen!

  • half the world boxes up the gefilter fish after it's doggy bag does over and over

  • Does anyone else besides me hear an underlying sense of sadness in this song, specifically about how each half of the world is disconnected from the other, "like a torn up photograph" and how each half is trying to "reach the other half". It sounds like if only the world could be one. Excellent song.

  • This song is still true in 2011.

    Neil Peart is a poet.

  • @Meef1701

Unfortunately (sorry to say), the brilliance of this song is it will always ring true.

  • as with every other RUSH song....its great! HAIL THE HOLY TRINITY THAT IS RUSH! thinking mans rock. been a fan for many many years and always will be!

  • I've always been a fan of RUSH.....I'm also a singer song writer a style some what different to hard rock but still like to think that my musicianship has been influneced by RUSH's music!!! If anyone is interested in having a listen, visit world wide web myspace dot com forward slash darrencinque

  • Love this song, but I never warmed up to many of the songs on TFE.

  • it's cool that you like Rush, but I wouldn't say that your a fanatic if you've never heard this song.

  • @Davism38 I'm OBSESSED with Rush and I haven't heard this song. That's because I'm mainly into their '70s stuff. Imo, I wish they kept writing epics, but as stated on Beyond the Lighted Stage, their lives started falling apart.

  • @Ryu12543 Definitely check out some of their newer stuff. I love their old classics and obscure songs from COS, Kings, etc. But when I went to see them on the Time Machine Tour, I read Neil's write-up in the tourbook. Apparently they are looking at going back to their progressive roots on this next album. He gave hints at the whole concept album idea. You can kinda make a connection between the two singles Caravan and BU2B. Those are supposed to be the first 2 songs on the next record.

  • @RushFanatic87 My mom actually has all the rest of them. Snakes and Arrows was pretty good. I loved Leave That Thing Alone live too, Geddy kicks ass on that song.

  • @Ryu12543 There will be an epic for you on their latest album. It will be the title track: Clockwork Angels.

  • love this bass line.

  • @Billinois78. more Rush genius. : )

  • as good as TFE is, it pales before the intensity of vapor trails....

  • this is great, but the one I really like from TFE is "Totem"... "I believe in what I see, I believe in what hear, I believe that what I'm feeling changes how the world appears".... Mr. Peart as his usual best!

  • Neil is a sharp social observer. It is most beautiful that he always looks at himself first, and doesn't leave himself out of his commentary.

  • this has got to be one of their best....and they got quite a few of em.....

  • Great track and totally underrated...

  • Am I the only one who thinks this video is kinda unsettling?

  • Under rated and overlooked tune. Not as "progressive" as some other classics, but good composition and great lyric. The album it came from (T4E) I don't care for as much as the preceding effort (Counterparts, a personal favorite) but heck it's still a Rush album! As of next year, I will have been a fan for 30(!) years. Where does the time go - time stand still, indeed, wish it could sometimes. But so very glad they are still around, three decades later on.

  • In order to truly know Rush and truly love them....you ought to look into their politics.

Neil bases a lot of his lyrics on the writings and philosophy of Ayn Rand. She is quite remarkable though she passed away many years ago. They even dedicated one of their albums to her.

They believe in the live and let live school of thought. That force is the providence of tyrants and little children. This has made me love them all the more and given me an insight to them that most fans don't have!

  • This is a solid album and this is wonderful piece of work. Like a lot of other people, I've been a Rush fanatic forever and then discover remarkable pieces that I somehow missed. The latest was 'Peaceable Kingdom' on Vapor Trails. I don't understand how the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducts that skanky tramp Madonna and yet continues to shun these remarkable - and genuine - artists.

  • Test For Echo, Presto, and Vapor Trails are my fave...

    Thus far...

  • yeah

  • I remember them playing this video on the backdrop behind the band on tour....AWESOME stuff! One of my favorite songs from this album, and there are many good ones!

  • This song is good; instead of being a kid fan when this one came out, I was a cohabiting American graduate student mother in England with some German guy graduate student mechanical engineer who has a knack for programming computers...our baby is a little over a year old. Its not like that now, but this song is still good.

  • this has very quickly become my favorite Rush song...

  • Someday, when Rush is gone, a younger generation is going to re-discover Rush, and their lyrics about trying to be a decent human being in a world that has no time for it. Call me a fantic, a fan-boy, whatever, but I have raised my own son on the principles of a rock music lyricist. Truth is truth, no matter the vessel that carries it.

  • @RallyCat909 no words to describe being a true rush fan...there are us....and there are the rest of the world who dont get nor will they ever get what they dont know they are missing...

  • Not one of my favorite Rush songs, but proof of how effortlessly excellent they are. Only a man as wise as Peart could write such lyrics.

  • Easily one of the best song of the past 5 years

  • @benakr lol this song is 15 years old

  • been here a while half ass response...lol

  • this song is uneik i like it i want it on my ipod! Stat!

  • This song is neat i gotta get this on my iPod.

  • PART OF TIME MACHINE

    for sure

  • @ePhilosopher9 nope

  • This song showed that they could still do a good straight up rock song and still have something to say. Test For Echo is a great album and definitely could rock...in the Rush style.

  • Mahr war hier.

  • rush is like a serial killer they want to be caught................they have their mark now they want to be caught!!!! they are the ones who have been spreading havoc all across this great divide ....now I want answers!!! who is thIS BAND That SPEAKS GREAT THINGS AREBYOU FOR REAL!!!

  • It's a great song, and I believe one of their better videos as well. They were never really a "video-friendly" band.

  • Comment removed

  • I always thought this was one of the strongest songs on T4E. It's actually one of my favorites from the entire body of their work.

  • Unbelievable. I'm a Rush fanatic and I have yet to listen to this album.

  • @gmmakesmehurl trust me i havent listend to counter parts and vapour trails really but i have listen'd to ever other known released rush album

  • @zackjp nobodys hero and everyday glory from counterparts...

  • @gmmakesmehurl wow, you were really missing out. makes me wonder, what else have you not heard of Rush?

  • @gmmakesmehurl

you are missing out, test for echo is intense.

  • @gmmakesmehurl shit man, this album is sick!

  • @gmmakesmehurl I bought it, greatest Rush CD to date i.m.o. (2004 re-master doesn't do a whole ton from the original master but I suggest getting the '04 re-master.)

  • @LightningCat315 is the remaster sound better?

  • @satamique I don't have the remaster so i will check!

  • @gmmakesmehurl It's really good, one of my faves after the early 80s stuff.

  • @gmmakesmehurl

I'm surprised. A lot of versed Rush fans I know haven't, either. I knew most of the Rush singles previous to this album but as someone born in 1983 I wasn't really truly exposed to Rush in the mainstream - Test for Echo got just enough airplay for me to get hooked to this album and the rest, as they say, is history. AWESOME album.

  • @gmmakesmehurl come here so i can beat you. this album is crazy good!!

  • It grows on you. I keep finding myself playing the tracks. It took me a bit to realise how amazing a song is Driven.

  • excellent excellent excellent excellent...... and erm, excellent!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5/5

  • kickass

  • woah how new is this? this is like the coolest rush song ive ever heard

  • It's from the 1996 album Test For Echo.

  • @OUtsidethenine4eva Its 14 years old, but if you missed it for whatever reason then you're perceiving it as new now. This is normal, just like 20 year olds reading Plato for the first time in 1980 or 2010 even. Ya know Plato is from before Mozart, if that tells you anything...before Zeppelin, before Rush.

  • Respond to this video... Its good that you like it.

  • @OUtsidethenine4eva it is very great

  • Kick ass song
