thanks a lot! i'm happy for every comment about my playing...

  • Dat Haircut

  • this is very strong playing for a live performance.

  • If this performance has not been edited, one has to give the young man credit to be one of few pianists to be aggressive in this work. We know from Rachmaninoff's own performance of his music that he liked brisk tempos. Also, there is some warmth in the playing here, it is not simply typewriting execution. Is he one of today's great pianists - maybe not. But, it certainly is refreshing to hear first class Rachmaninoff if this recording has not been tampered with.

  • You need to get yourself a hearing aid! what's with "tempered with" and "edited" - just come out and say this is an excellent performence!

  • Great performance!!

  • i think that regarding the tempo, this is the best performance from youtube! Ashkenazy of course plays more accurate...but pavel raikerus did a great job in a very fast tempo

  • Sadly, this performance isn't as compelling as the performer would have you believe.

Pavel's totally off the mark, I'm afraid.

  • You know what I hate? Smartasses. If you don't feel adressed, then it's exactly you who I mean.

  • Very clean, crisp, and accurate. I disagree with the Robert DeGaetano comment. The video of him here is very sloppy. While this performance is not the most romantic, I'm not sure it would benefit much from adding any "passion," considering how fresh and clear it sounds the way it is. It's nice to be able to hear the notes, for once.

  • also check out Ashkenazy and Lugansky

there are far better performances out there, shaped to perfection (insofar as Rach had intended)

  • You have to admire that he is one of few to be aggressive in this exciting work.... just wish some of the staccatos and precision was traded a bit more for some good, old heavy intensity..... Rachmaninoff himself was not exactly the most precise of pianists since he loved to bring out his left hand.

  • Great. But it could be better... here's how.

Mr. Raikerus needs his own piano. Custom made in flaming red. With blue and yellow flames. And racing stripes. And he needs to lose the black suit. His burgundy suit from the mazeppa video was better.

And he needs a mohawk and a Guy Fawkes mask.

Pianists these days... they're all too similar. And almost all pianos are black. The personal computing industry might have just discovered black, but with pianos, it's passé. It's time for change

  • Great pianist! I also love Ashkenazy's interpretation.

  • Perfect ! Most of good pianists play this etude slower, and most of bad pianists play at this tempo....for the first time a good pianist and this perfect tempo! Great job!

  • fantastic driving rhythm all the way through - proper forward momentum!

  • Good work!!

  • DAIM TIZ WAY TO PLAY TIZ ETUDE!!!!!!!
