Yes, where find a DVD about that fabulous show. I have still so good souvenir about it ... The messages were so powerful, also the show and the music of Peter Gabriel ... So much emotions ... All the attractions were also so wonderful into the Millenium Dome. It was pity that not much more publicity was done on the continent to see all the temes exposed there during that year 2000 for our generation, next and next to next generations (Make Tommorow ;-)
i worked at the Dome myself , it was the greatest job and also the greatest show on earth, i still remember all the happy times we had at the Dome, and i will never call it the 02 it will still be the Dome to me and to alot of others,
i remember going to this show when i was 16.it was absolutely amazing,i watched the show twice i loved it so much.those performers are amazing, thanks for such a great video
Saw that show many times during my time working at the Dome back in 2000. Never got bored of watching it. Very emotional and moving piece. I have a tear in my eye watching it now *sob*
I watched this when I was about 7/8 so I don't remember much but I'm glad I remember some of it. It's seriously amazing! We also brought the CD (which has now disappeared) so the music is wonderfully familiar. I also remember visiting one of the exhibit in the dome that had lots of trees with lights on. Does anyone else remember this?
Peter Gabriel's music is incredible - so perfect! I saw this show twice in one day when I visited the Dome - that was when I was 7. I still have the CD we brought of this music <3 Thank you!
Is the main arena in the O2 tall enough to put this show on as a one off? presentably the hydraulics and cavity in the floor are still under there there. It would be awesome if they did but never quite the same :(
The whole Dome thing was slated by the press because they were kept waiting in the cold when it first opened. We went twice and enjoyed it both times (despite the chaos on the railways the first time, following the Hatfield crash).
When we saw this show, one of the dancers was in a wheelchair, which was absolutely fascinating to watch.
Thanks for this post, Used to work there and have to watch this show several times a day and I have to admit I don't think I appreciated it enough, but now with hindsight and also this vid, I have have remembered just how great the show was... Also funny watching my team in the first few seconds asking people to get off the teardrops :)
I was 10 when I went to the Dome and I was amazed by this show! all the flying people and people on stilts and shit
I now work in the O2 Arena which has replaced all the stuff inside the Dome, and at last night's concert there I saw Peter Gabriel performing some of the same music I heard almost 10 years ago to the day, in the exact same spot under the same roof.
I was 10 years old when I saw the show in the dome and LOVED it, as with everything else in there, returned on two more occasions, and on the last, prices were dropped to only £1 entry as the project turned out to be a dissapointment, especially with 2000 having been passed. It was sad to see it all nearly changed when I returned last year! Good Memories though!
Back in 2000, I worked at the dome and used to watch this show every day. It was amazing. Never got bored of watching it. The Dome had some dodgy stuff but some cool stuff too.
My Dad worked at the Dome so I would get free tickets twice a month, I remember each time I went we'd always make sure we saw the show as we all found it to be by far the best thing inside.
I just can't work out why it wasn't more publicised (the show that is) as it would of brought so many people.
My Dad was given a VCR tape of the show when he left, I'll see if I can get it off him and copy it somehow and to post on youtube.
The Dome suffered at the hands of incompetents and it's current success shows what a missed opportunity it was for tax payers to get their money back.
If anyone does know of a full video of this I'd love to know more. Why there wasn't an official movie of it is beyond me.
@silverfoils ???? eh? current success?? doesn't it just show 2 lessons? - that it is possible to spend a ton of money on something dead simple, then give it away,
2, that if you're given something at a fraction of the cost (i.e. you dont bear those costs) it is possible to make money out of anything, even an unimaginative uninspired not fit for purpose (what purpose?) upside down teflon dome?
@Fizzypop1211 My point was that money could have been made from the dome (as is happening now), but the state gave it away instead of recouping money stolen from the taxpayer to build it in the first place. Don't wear out your ?????? key ;^)
Well done for preserving an important part of history. It's rare we have something to be proud of and I think this show and the dome, are things we should be proud of. I don't have many regrets in life, but I do regret having never seen this show. I didn't even know about it until I heard the Peter Gabriel CD 'Ovo' which features two of my favorite singers, Liz Fraser from The Cocteau Twins and of Paul Buchanan of The Blue Nile.
So pleased to see this! Like many others have been looking for this for ages...
And people are right, if this element of the dome had of been more widely publicised, people wouldn;t like back on it now with such disapproval wouldn;t it be great to see a DVD!
I have to say I'm pleased and surprised to see this. I was one of the many performers hired to perform at the dome and was not impressed until I saw the main show and still can not understand why this was not promoted. it was fantastic and cost £15,000 a performance 3 times a day. Never knew about it until I was in the dome
Thanks for all your kind comments....It was for bidden to take video at the dome show ...but I persevered! It' a pity I'm the only person who seems to have any footage of it...if there is anyone else let me know. Yes the aerial show was great....a pity the exhibits were rather lame.
i was about 7 or 8 when i went to see this with school, i iddn't understand anything i just remember being in awe, i couldn't remember much of it but now i do, it's weird seeing it now, amazing.
I went to the Dome in August 2000. Watched the show twice..amazing. One of the best visual treats I have ever seen, in fact, probably THE best. I've also been looking for a video of it for ages. They should bring it out on DVD or put it back on again.
My God!...........I have no clue why this was never televised. It woukd have saved the Dome. Was far better than the surrounding 'dispays'. I have travelled all over the world and seen many shows. This remains the best and most unforgettable in my life. It looks ur video is rehearsal stuff so u are well connected. Please revive it. I can help with finance
i was there for the last ever show, and it broke my heart having to see this fantastic show finish. my mother [rip] worked at the millenium dome and sometimes had to stand during the show to make sure no one ran onto the stage. she would have loved to have seen this. I lost count as to the times I saw the show, knew most of the cast and crew. thankyou for posting this. it actually brought tears to my eyes
I was 8 when i went with my school and i always remember i was insainly bored when we went to watch this! If only i had appreicated it at the time.
