This is the second of Hamza's groundbreaking Vanguard discs, every bit as forceful today as they were when they were released. Al Oud is perhaps Hamza's most aggressive recording, playing with a fervor that ignites love in even the hardest of hearts
in fact steve vai will kneel in front of him, or eddie van halen at that. repeatitive music at it`s highest form, even a worm can sleep while listening to this piece.
the ture egyptians are the copts...Other egyptian, believe it or not are greeks :) that includes all Isalm Christians and what have ya...Course you got your arab and african minorities.
Silly comments, Hamza is a Nubian (people/tribe) there was an area in Egypt that stretched into modern Sudan (much of N. Africa used to be called the Sudan) that area was called Nubia by some, at other times the whole area was called KMT (Kemet) or Ethiopia and many other names by various peoples. Hamza was something else too... a Master and a beautiful Human being that I am so happy to have met. Allah bless you.
Rest in peace master Hamza, this legendary musician well represented his native Nubia, Sudan, all of the middle East Africa and greatly contributed to world music.
Sadly its nearly two years now since he took his angelic voice to the Heavens not his government nor his own people whom he crossed boundaries introducing their culture and costumes have made a remembrance, celebrating his achievements.
Best regards youtoob83 and many thanks for the post.
Hamza is one of my biggest influences. I just love the sound of his oud. This is the first time I see a video of him playing. Is that an ebony oud? I've always liked the sound of ebony ouds better although they're heavy.
He was a nice man. Not the important innovator that this post paints him, though. Just one of hundreds of Sudanese musicians. There were better Sudanese singers and Oud players, but the rock stars did make him the most well known. We'll miss him.
Hamza El Din, the celebrated Nubian musician whose rich fusion of Arabic and Nubian sounds entranced audiences worldwide and inspired colleagues like the Grateful Dead and Kronos Quartet, died Monday, May 22nd, at a Berkeley hospital from a gallbladder infection. He was 76.
Anyone who has enjoyed his music or had the opportunity to be in his presence can recognize a true heart felt absence in the field of world music. His style of musical simplicity was unique, impassionate and inspiring.

Good on you for mentioning the true Egyptians. We Copts have been in Egypt long before the "slims". Long live the holy church of Alexandria.
