It was the stress that these living metaphores created that forced the characters to react poorly. The monoliths broke the social 'boundries' and the characters didn't understand how to deal with it. This i feel reflects the way beings are pushed together in cities and the stress this creates. Or mabye i'm missing the point.....
I think that this is both a reflection on the human psyce and on the effect of industrilisation on it. The statue never did anything to the main chracter, he mearly presented itself in an unusual and socially awkard manner. It also personified modern industriliseation, as did the other stalking forms......
For me this is about obsession. How it can control you if you let it; how It can destroy your relationships and become your only companion...one that ultimately is mute and cold. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. ....the dance? A mockery. The fisherman's hook. Some distant memory of people...and an almost forgotten reason for obsession, why it started, and why it lingers.
Okay. I have done only the one attempt of placing of my answer in a column of commentaries, but the words have been marked as a spam. So i already answered.

My answer: I hope this was not an imperceptible reclame of the dangerous chemical compound. When i attend a pharmacy, then i strive to buy a non-dangerous stuff. Last time, it was the ear plugs.
What if it were like a mating thing? And if the person ignored it the object would just keep fucking persisting like an annoying nerd. But if the person danced back with it then the object would think it were a 'yes'. Then it would grab them and fuck them with 12" of blue steel baby O.o
Oh, this was a perceptible, graphical, sound image of the symbolic link, which was connected to the icon(* image) of the unpacking of shit. The guy was a human and he didn't have a super toilet bowl.
amazing! there are no more words for this, also there is something, like if those living figures where some sort of representations of the real troubles that follows men... and in this case, the "follows" is literal....
Great post production and location - bendy analog osc synths, ambience in place of score reminds me of some early 1970's film school THX1138 style e - plaid pants, puffy graphic-design styles, ... so disconcerting to hear a North American accent in such a Europaisch scene. - I remember some funky avant garde US educational films about pollution from that same era that had this vibe
"Terminus" is the Greek god of boundaries that had yearly sacrifices made to him in ancient times. Where do humans find the most oppression and boundary? Work and school. To me, the title is the name of the actual God in modern times who, now that no one is making sacrifices to him anymore, gets his own blood sacrifice by driving people to it themselves, taking the form of something that the target sees every day, like the subway lines, or a statue seen in a school book or court yard.

LOL! Humans! Give them something that doesn't make sense, & they see patterns & meanings that arn't really there!
This just 'IS'. Nothing less, Nothing more. There's no inner meaning or symbolism! This artist just woke up one day & thought to himself, "Wouldn't it be strange if we were all followed by an unwelcome Corporeal tellurian?"
Terminus represents a place where the Deseased go to except their fate, in Quaranteen, & Eventually Die.
I don't know if I'm right but if you watch it a couple of times you'll notice that all the artefacts are materials or parts of the underground. I don't know what the dance represents but I think it has something to do with anxiety.
Terminus might be linked to Terminal or Termite. I doubt he wanted to use the exact definition of Terminus. That's my opinion though.
I think that that figure ilustrated the imaginary weight of the life of that man. It is the weight he himself tought he`s carring. At certain point it catched up to him, he couldn`t have live with it. He hit his head, he forgot, he got his 15 minutes of "freedom" and happines and than "Kaboom" proceed to the next lvl.
Actually, to follow my last comment, I just finished watching the whole thing, and I noticed that the stone figure had blood on his 'head' where the man had also hit his head. The stone figures new target at the end also happened to be another man reading, just as the main character was reading the paper at the beginning.
The stone figure is already worn out by the time it meets the man. I get the feeling that it's a representation of the depression before a suicidal person 'ends' their life.
There's a lot of depth to the short, that's for sure. Without any dialogue, you have to rely on the symbolism. Each 'colleague' of this man has a different 'shadow'. The woman smoking has a wooden shadow, the man with thick glasses had the Periodic Table of Elements. Why did this man have a stone figure?
My first assumption is that the figures represent anxiety, and the appearance of the figures may represent how they handle their anxieties. Even that suggestion barely makes any sense.
this is really brilliant; i think this is about people who are overtaken by their jobs and feel they will never have time for themselves...you can tell from when he was on the phone canceling his plans, he looked at the thing following him.
I like to search and watch new short films all the time, and here's another really good short film I found: Write "Goodbye Brian Short Film" in search engine.
Interesting that everyone has different opinions on what it means. I think that's the point, allow the viewer to interpret it and mold it to their own feelings.
I interpreted it as meaning everyone has their own demons and baggage in their lives that haunt them and hold them back from enjoying life. But that's just my interpretation.
It's actually really funny, but whatever, to each his own. It's obviously some kind of metaphor about job related stress and/or the tightening grip of corporate America on humanity, including it's mindless and bland representations of art and assistance. I like how ambiguous it starts, and that it takes it's message just seriously enough without ruining the fact that it's a hilarious concept. Love the dancing :)
There are a lot of indications of it, in the subtext of the narrative. So it seems pretty obvious. I'd call it an educated guess. I suppose only the creators could tell you what it's really about.
It was the blitzkrieg.
