this is so dumb I hate the new outboards they are anchors thanks to the EPA as soon as 1973 rolled around outboard motors have sucked to little power for the weight and these 300 xs have been just beat by a 500 hp outboard

The 300XS is SICK. I have a Tunnel with a single 300X that runs 105mph. It gets like 4mpg. I wonder what it would get with the 300SX. Probably like 6-8mpg.

I love Mercury. No problems with them. All though I have grown fond of Evinrude for the push in 2-strokes. I respect them for making only 2-strokes.

the direct injections are not to bad... the fuel economy is actually really decent, because more fuel gets burned and less gets wasted, the common misconception is that all 2 strokes burn a crazy amount of fuel, but they dont realize that this was back when they had the intake coming in as the exaust was going out, with the intake side and exaust side on the piston, without direct injection, a good amount of fuel would exit with the exaust.....

Maybe you have a 4 stroke Mr.Visgekken that's why it is so quiet dumb ass and the 2 strokes are louder and more powerful than 4 strokes, 4 strokes are just more environmentally friendly and they cost more than 2 strokes they don't have as much torque and are heavier that is why your engine is quiet

i have owned and still do own them all(rudes and mercs) i will say hands down mercury is the best outboard in the world period.. however .. we got an 07'250 e-tec ..have allready replaced a power head .. but it comes w/ a seven year warranty (best in business)and bombardier was real great about doing it.. no questions asked... they wouldnot say what the problems was w/ e-tecs but i know they redisigned the oil pump and a new type ECM.. i am impressed w/ my e-tec....

The smaller Mercury outboards are only being manufactured in China. Nothing 60hp+ is. Mackey just retired also so maybe the new runner up will change that in a couple of years.
