  • Thanks for posting this demo. It's very informative!

  • Cool video! Some people prefer a simple lift and NOT the "All-out-gone-CRAZY" madness. I like this look. It's very conserving.

    Kudos!

  • waste of money... leave it stock or buy a real lift

  • I didn't see any situation in the video where ground clearance was a significant factor. Since the vehicle never came within several inches of the ground at any point, a stock Tacoma (normal ground clearance) likely could have topped those peaks just as easily.

  • Spacer lifts cause unhealthy pressure on front struts causing them to literally break under pressure. A Bilstein 5100 adjustable strut is in the same price range as this option and provides not only a safer lift but an improvement in ride.

  • great vid

  • thats the cheap way to lift]

  • awesome man! thanks a lot

  • theres a pikes peak hillclimb version of that

  • Can you please give me the part number for the wheels on your truck, and the full tire specs, it looks so great that I want it on my truck too !!!!

  • @Tarnjit69 Check out the video description for more info. We ran 33x12.50x17 MIckey Thompson MTZs on 17x9 (w/ 4.5'' backspacing) Dick Cepek DC2s. The wheel/tire combo is larger than we recommend running and will rub without trimming the fenders. Wheel part number is #1179412

  • @ZONEoffroadproducts should of went with XD Rockstars with Nitto tires

  • could i run 285/75r16 with this? the rims have 4.5 inch backspacing...

  • @wsfisherman 286/75r16 is the largest tire we'd recommend running on either a stock or 16x8 wheel with 5'' backspacing. There may be some slight rubbing with a wider wheel and 4.5'' backspacing (as there was with our truck in the video) that will require some trimming.

  • what size lift is that ?

  • @CvilleTigers11 It's the 2.5'' Zone lift with 2'' rear block and rear shocks

  • I love videos like this because you can learn some things, very rare that you find it on youtube these days with so much junk floating around.

  • I dont want to sound like a keyboard warrior, or even an interenet tough guy, however everything that you just did in the video, you could have done with the stock tires and rims with no lift. Heres the deal people. More rubber means more traction. Why get 17 inch if its going to limit your tires to grib with low pressure? I see this too much with all the "Bro" posers. Get tires that you want that are appropriate the shredding that you like to do, and the lift to work with the tires.

  • @2403328 I agree i don't like the tire/rim combo at all... They might look cool but when it comes to functionality they problably wont be that great.

  • everyone keep in mind that even with those crappy spacers installed this is still a completely stock truck. its the same crap tastic suspension except with something wedged in between to make it higher. if you want real suspension that is actually for max performance look up total kaos suspension. even on youtube

  • how much for the rims?

  • @theschoolbusman All the components the lift, the wheel, and the tires are available through the Zone Offroad website. We have sales and specials from time to time so the price may vary. This truck is running 17x9 Dick Depek DC2 wheels

  • @ZONEoffroadproducts Thank you!! Thx for replying so quick!!!

  • whee can i get evrything at and how much

  • @yz250fracer0123 The kit is available from the Zone Offroad website or through any of our distributors worldwide. Front spacers #T1251 $99.95, rear block kit #T1209 $60.64, and rear shocks #4809 $34.68

  • do you need to replace the rear shocks??

  • @lFaOnOcSe

The rear shocks are an optional upgrade. The factory shocks can extend to fit with the rear block, however they may limit the amount of wheel travel when wheeling off-road.

  • Wohoo!

  • Any idea what those 33x12.50x17 MT MTZs tires are in standard tire measurements...?

  • @sixstringsensei Metric size equivalent for a 33x12.50x17 would be a 305/65R17, but check with each tire manufacturer because the measurements may vary from company to company.

  • @ZONEoffroadproducts Thanks for the info! I'm interesting in your kit for both front and back. I'm not sure I want to run 305s, but they do look great in 65/17. Actually, the numbers I'm looking at now are: Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/70/17 (33.1") on 17x9 wheels with 4.5" backspacing. From the research I've done, with your 2.5" kit, I still need to trim plastic and possibly the metal cab chop too. What's your experience with your kit and the measurements I'm after? It would be for a 2012 DC.

  • @sixstringsensei Check out some of the other comments/conversations on this video. The 33x12.50 is larger than we'd recommend running and the 17x9 with 4.5'' backspacing stuck the tires out much farther then needed. We did have some rubbing issues and had to trim quite a bit to eliminate the rubbing issues. The 285/70r17 would be a safer option but we'd recommend going with 17x8 with 5'' backspacing to limit tire interference

  • I have to thank you for posting this: I installed a Daystar leveling kit on a 2006 4Runner by dropping the lower arm as you did in the video. You saved me A LOT of time and effort vs. the way shown in the Daystar instructions by separating the upper ball joint, etc.

The truck did not have the XREAS system, though. Not sure you could do it this way if you have XREAS.

  • Nice truck man!

  • Sweet video. Looks like soooooooo much fun. Spacer lifts may get hate. But they are so cheap if your just trying to run some bigger tires and get some ground clearance.

  • spacers are bad for your truck suspension and add nothing to its capabilities. 100% waste of money.

  • great video

  • Great vid for a spacer lift!!! Seriously, good job. I had one, then went new springs/shocks front and rear. Spacer lifts get hated on too much.

  • Cool easy lift. Love those wheels!

  • well done

  • Nice truck! Did you have any rubbing with 12.5” wide tires? I want some 305’s but I think I will need to cut back my cab mounts. I have a 3” in coil over lift. Do you know the off set on those wheels… rumor has it 4.5” is ideal when running that wide of a tire. Thanks!!!

  • spacers = body lift not worth it way to ruin a taco...

  • Comment removed

  • Spacers=affordable. so yes worth it. Furthermore strut spacers dont equal body lift. Thats day one stuff. stop being a little troll

  • @mik3ymike Whatever you say man, I really dont care.

  • @lancer7610 you cared enough to say it like you knew what you where talking about.

  • i have an 05 tacoma but i cant afford a lift hhaa

  • what kind of trimming did you have to do to make the tires fit?

  • dc-1s look awesome!

  • not a very big fan off those wheels but the lift looks nice

  • is the suspension stock? if not what are you running?

  • youre weird lookin

  • Comment removed

  • @TheRizzMaster Your speedo will need to be recalibrated after 33's are installed.

  • Thats pretty cheap I wanted a 6 inch lift put on mine and they said it would cost 3,000 total.

  • how much did you lifted your truck??

    what size are those rims???

what tire is the one you put on the dick cepeck rims??

do you need to put spacer to make your truck look like that?

  • @tpsitnisky

    2.5'' Zone Offroad Lift Kit

    17x9 DC-1 Rims

    33x12.50x17 MT MTZs

the spacer added the clearance for the larger tire

  • @ZONEoffroadproducts With the 2.5" lift on a 4wd, is the use of a front differential drop kit required?

  • very cool video, was that a self following video camera? very cool, if i get one of these kits do i need to replace the rear factory shocks? and why do the shocks leave the original mounting position? thanks, do you ship your items to canada?

  • @9PRELUDE2 Nope, just a man and his camera, we shot this with a Canon 7D. The rear kit is optional, depending on how the Tacoma came from the factory and what stance you are looking for. You can keep the factory shocks in the rear, but for offroad situations where the truck is flexing, the shocks limit the amount of droop. That also goes to why we outboard the lower shock mounts in the rear. It offers better positioning to dampen once lifted.

  • u have fun with your truck

  • you didn't have to mess around with the UCA, ball joint, or sway bar to swap out the front shocks? just the cam bolts on the LCA and the two bolts on the knuckle was all that was needed???

  • I've been on the fence about one of these types of lift ever since I bought my Tacoma new in 05. Some say do it, others say don't because it won't line up after the lift. Did you get the front aligned after the install? Is an alignment even required? I'm looking for a little lift so I can run aftermarket wheels on my truck, and still run my 265/75 16s.

  • @yotamanwv Thanks for the comment, but what do you mean by "it won't line up"? The kit works great and doesn't over-extend the factory components, and allow for anywhere in the 265-285 tire range. Check our website for wheel/tire specs to help you out with sizing. The rear block is optional to level out the vehicle ifneeded, do some stock measurements ahead of time to see how your truck sits. We recommend an alignment any time the suspension is altered, no need to wear out a new set of tires.

  • Why is your rear shock upside down? Or is mine on the wrong way?????Help

  • @islandminisunlimited We installed twin tube shocks on this Tacoma, twin tube shocks MUST be mounted cylinder side down, if they are mounted inverted the oil inside will leak out and blow the shocks, rather quickly too. If you're running a monotube shock they can me mounted either way, standard or inverted, whatever suits you best. All Zone shocks are twin tube design.

  • Forgot to mention that it's good to torque the bolts...

  • how much to lift this and maybe change tires from the stock ones?

  • @SquatterCrab 2.5'' Spacer Kit runs $99.95 (#T1251), Optional rear block/u-bolts (#T1209) run $60.64 and rear shocks (#4809) run $34.68 ea via the Zone Offroad Website (zoneoffoad . com). As far as tires go, depends on which ones you want, give us a call and we can help you out (888) 998-9663

  • Looks so much better lifted than stock!

  • sweet ride

  • what size is the lifted kid u install for the front and rear?

  • hey whats up...i wanna put a 3 inch lift on a tacoma and put some 17s with mickey thomsons mtzs 33x12.5

do you think it will be rubbing?

  • Can you tell me what size wheels and tires you are running in this video? Looks awesome!

  • super cars anit got shit on that

  • live saver

  • what are the name of those rims? how much were they?

  • love the paint job

  • dude this truck is fuckin sick. thats what my truck will look like

  • Hey, Shouldn't you tighten the cam bolts on the lower control arm on the install??

  • Spacer kits are a cheap garbage method of getting lift. Years ago, people would use hockey pucks as spacers..

  • is 285/70/17 with 17x9 wheels rubing?...from your experience,,,,and when you said triming the fender...can you explain what exactly you trim off...

  • what the size of the rims and tires?

  • @ SGTCHEZ82 and @Blacktacoma23, We ran 33x12.5x17 Mickey Thompson MTZs on 17x9 DC-1s. We had to trim the fenders and there was some rubbing due to the wheel backspacing and tire width.

  • what size lift is this

  • how much did it cost???

    what size are your tires?

  • @elchilisqui The '05-'10 Tacoma 2.5'' Spacer Kit runs $99.95 (#T1251), Optional rear block/u-bolts (#T1209) run $60.64 and rear shocks (#4809) run $34.68 ea. on the Zone Offroad website. We ran 33x12.5s on 17x9 with some rubbing. 265/75r16 to 285/75r16 are a on 16x8 is what we recommend running

  • I like the install video quite a bit - it's very well annotated - but I've got to call BS at about the 1:35 mark. There's *no way* that you can just bolt everything back together without using a prybar or a ratchet strap to compress the spring...seems like you should show this step. This is one of the biggest downsides to installing this type of kit, and by not showing it you might give people an unrealistic expectation.

  • @tacomahq There's no trick photography, the kit is really that easy to install. Our kit doesn't over-extend the factory components or have any interference between coilovers and upper a-arms like some of the other kits on the market. We include instruction sheets in all of our kits and when following the steps the install is much easier and painless then what you are describing having to go through. Check out the Zone Offroad website and look at the instructions for the Tacoma Kit #T1251

  • @ZONEoffroadproducts I'm sure that the kit doesn't negatively impact the suspension - all I'm saying is that the coil assembly + spacer is longer than the factory coil assembly. Therefore, you need to compress the spring to get everything to fit. The factory coil assembly is fully extended at full droop, right? Adding on an inch or so of spacer means something has got to give.

  • @tacomahq You are correct - when the coil spacer is installed on the coil assembly the overall length of the assembly is longer than the factory setup. However, if you review 0:29 - 0:42 in the video you will notice that when the cam bolts are loosened and lower control arm is unbolted from the knuckle the lower control droops about 1/2". This is due to the strut being designed and utilized as the droop limiter. 1/2" is certainly not enough room to install our spacer, but if you......

  • @tacomahq

........review from 0:40 and on you will notice that when the strut is unbolted from the lower control arm, the lower control arm swings freely since the droop limiter is no longer attached. When the lower strut mount is disconnected from the control arm you will have plenty of room to install the coil assembly with the spacer. If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call at 888-998-9663 and we will be happy to help.

  • nice truck....I had the same exact.

  • NICE!!! WHAT SIZE TIRES WERE PUT ON AFTER?

  • What size tires are you running?
