  • It's about time we get some video propaganda for the benefits of reading. Interestingly, many of the comments for this video are poorly edited and, therefore, difficult to read or outright unintelligible

  • highly informative,Good job british scientis lady

  • someone looooooves wuthering heights a lot.... someones very lonely.

  • in future, if we kept downloading things to read thing in the brain.. your brain wont develop new brain cells for reading purpose.. you'd end up being illiterate as the stone age ppl.. heaven forbids. But I am more interested in downloading skills and language. But reading is what made us civilized.

  • in 100 years from now, people wont read, we'll just see and hear with our ears and eyes. reading is an old way to learn

  • @juki0h Not likely, reading is just such a cheap and effective way to learn. Not to mention it is an enjoyable activity. Humans will never stop reading.

  • @Tapey01 perhaps someday they will. i mean, whats the point of reading if we can just download it into our brains

  • @juki0h Enjoyment, Minecraft is an awesome example. People spend countless hours creating things which could be programed to be made in a fraction of the time and effort. And at the end of the day there is no tangible result. There are ways to automate tasks like sewing yet people still sew. There are thousands of examples of this. Would an auto knowledge implant devise decrease reading, sure, but those of us that enjoy the act of reading would still read. Just lie those that enjoy sewing.

  • @Tapey01 guess ur right, enjoyment. but maybe we wont have that luxury, as people become more busy, wont have time to read

  • @juki0h I don't mean to be that guy but if we look at tends over the past 100 years, In first world western countries mainly but also many other nations, people have been working less and less hours over time and getting paid more and more. Assuming this trend continues I think it is safe to say we won't be to busy for a good long time. Things change though, economies could crash beyond any hope of recovery. But if that happens I doubt any of this would matter.

  • LEGOs are awesome, YEAHHHH~

  • I wish the text were available! I listen and transcribe medical information all day, and the last thing I feel like doing at the end of the evening is listening to more information!

  • Reading is ok but on the whole I prefer Maidenhead.

  • Rita says the brain is "probably the most complex machine in the universe".

Hmm. Galaxy, possibly. Universe? A science writer way out of her depth and it's only 2min 32 into a 60 min doco....

  • @quigonngaijin scientist alrady know about galaxies, universes, etc. i would agree that the brain is the most complex machine in the universe, theres just so much we still dont know about. i mean, you watch all those super hero movies and shows, imagine some day all that will come true if we learn to use 100 percent of our brains

  • This is very interesting :) Thank you for uploading, sharpezor.

  • I'm interested in this subject; but thank God they made a documentary and I didn't have to read it.
