  • Sheesh. I put Tefillin on each day and it is easy to forget that not everyone knows what Tefillin are.

  • That's kind of funny. I looked up Tefillin on google images, and I can see how the flight crew might have been alarmed. It looks like some sort of modern cube weapon. lol. I bet they were embarrassed once they found out what it was.

  • pretty ridiculous situation.

  • Tefillin are very small. Less than a 2 inch cube. It would be much easier to use the souls of your shoes, a digital camera, a cellphone, a laptop, or myriad other devices. What we need to do is have good detection for chemical residue of explosives as part of our screening. We all need to stop being afraid to use ethnic profiling.

  • I am a religious, Orthodox Jew. We wear tefillin every day during our morning prayers. They are leather boxes which contain parchments with Biblical verses on them. This ritual is over 3,000 years old. We wear one on the head to symbolize devoting our intellect to serving God, and one on the left arm (ajacent to the left side of the chest, where the heart is). This symbolizes devoting our actions (arm) and emotions (heart) to God.

I have no problem with what the airline or police did.

  • IGNORANT NARROWMINDED IDIOOOOOOOTTTTSSS!

GAWD I'd sue the flight attendant if I were his parents, or fire him if I was his boss, sorry I just cant stand close mindedness.

  • id check that jew too never know???

  • That's exactly what the rag-heads are attempting to do; make professional people act stupidly. If people stop flying it won't be due to terrorist, it will be due to all the f&*king security BS and stupid flight crews like this one.

  • You'd figure the flight attendants would have basic training on non christian prayer rituals. The security obviously has training on how to "randomly" check a "brown" person.

I took a train to Chicago for a Cubs game a couple of years ago and a woman was shouting at the devil the entire time. Screaming at him or it in the empty(for obvious reasons) seat next to her. We didn't stop for that. That's a lot weirder.

Still the most fun train ride I've ever had.

  • i saw a guy using a tefflin, i thought he was casting a spell. it was the coolest thing i had ever seen.

  • @dxward it's not A teffilin. It's simply tfillin.

  • Comment removed

  • You misbegotten cowardly little sack of shit.

  • lol how am I cowardly you stupid cockfiend, just because you say so? oooo bitch.

  • that is the funniest thing i've EVER heard....Olfactory????????????

    i can't stop laughing....what an imbecile!!!!

  • @bethnivelern

Me too .... what, like some sort of aroma? ..... LOL!

  • Are we the dumbest country in the world or what? What a bunch of pussies.

  • This reminds me of when my husband and I were on the Eurostar to London. My husband went to the area (on the train) where the luggage is stored to pray, an English couple sitting near me peered down the train & saw him putting his Teffillin on & I heard the wife say to the husband "I wonder what he's doing" he answers "I think he's praying bc they're Jewish" to which she says "no they're not, I heard them talking English"!!

  • Also, Jews don't "need" Tefillin to pray. Jews wear the Tefillin only because it is a distinct commandment in the Torah which has been observed for thousands of years irrespective of prayer. Tefillin are almost exclusively worn during the morning service on Sunday-Friday. Very few put them on during afternoon service and they are not to be worn during the evening service. They are not worn on Sabbath or or on holidays such as Yom Kippur (which is associated with prayer/repentance) .

  • You would think something mentioned explicitly in several of the most famous verses of the most famous and widely owned book in the world aka The Bible, and which has been worn for literally thousands of years would be fairly well known in what is allegedly a predominantly Christian country, but never underestimate the overwhelming ignorance of today's populace.

  • "Device" ?? What a fucking moron to not know what tfillin are.

  • "It's called an olfactory".....LOL!!!!!!

    Phylactery!! Bless him.

  • For such a religious country people in the US are unbelievably ignorant about their own religion not to mention any others. It mentions Tefillin four times in the Torah. For all the Bible thumping that goes on in this country you would think people would know a bit about what is actually inside the book.

  • This was a hilarious description of Tefillin or an "olfactory" as this guy so eloquently put it. A "religious device"? It is some leather straps and a couple of boxes which have been worn for thousands of years by Jews all around the world. Jews have been wearing this "religious device" twice as long as Catholics have been eating wafers and their own "saviour" put on his "Olfactories" every day. Morons.

  • Black one inch wide leather boxes scare the FBI morons more than a full sized Black Nigerian terrorist.

Typical 'bash the Jew, bow to Allah' sort of behaviour.

  • this is ridiculous he has a right to wear tefilin on the plane anyone who says he is an extremist is out of their mind

  • regardless of what he had on his head, why should a box on someones head NOT be suspicious? could not a Extremists of some other religion wear a box on his head with explosives and claim to be Jewish, ?

ok i smell a big large lawsuit.

  • So a radical islamic terrorist gets on a plane in Nigera and flys half way around the world loaded with expolsives and nobody says shit to him. This harmless Jew (a group not known to blow up planes) sits with this thing on his head and and everything halts. Unbelievable. The people in charge have no idea what they're doing.

  • This whole thing is so funny to me.

I've worn my Tefilin many times on my flights, obviously without any incident.

  • @whyiswhat: You remind me a little of the fanatism on the different religions, for example, those from the extremist group "Al-Qaeda", who say to die in the name of God. You talk of religion, and you can't see that religion thoughout history was and has been what took some Men to give up their lives for a greater good and love for the rest of Mankind, with great examples such as Jesus Christ, Mother Teresa, Francis of Assisi, etc.

  • WHY do you respect those who have shown themselves to be the most immoral, such as Jesus (the creator of the doctrine that condemns those to eternal torture for no other "crime" than simply denouncing his claims of being a god) and Mother Teresa who was a professed atheist and con artist, that forbade divorce even in the cases of abusive marriages

IS there no bottom to the depths of your amorality?

WHAT other wicked allegiances do you wish to confess to all of us?

  • I won't spend my "latin" or better said... my English with you anymore. You must have serious problems (at various levels), and you are seriously misinformed about a LOT of things. Anyways, as a "friend", I advise you take psychological counselling - you really, really need it.

    Él-oh-él.

    P.S.: God bless you.

  • WHY would your god bless someone who doesn't believe it exists?

IS your god in favor of those who are so condescending as you have been towards me?

WHAT would I do with the blessing of a sadistic god who allows children to suffer, ignores the prayers of amputees who wish to be restored, defines rape as a spoil of war (Deuteronomy 20:10-14, Judges 21:10-24, Numbers 31:7-18 ) as well as permitting slavery (Exodus 21:2-6, Leviticus 25:44-46)?

  • Religious prayer box with a leather strap, that goes on the head and attaches to another.......... wait..... WHAT?

All that just to be able to talk to a fucking imaginary friend? I thought most people believed their god to be omnipotent?

  • dont be disrecptectful now, religious choice is a fundamental right

  • Oh, fuck. Here we go with "respect" and "rights". I don't owe any religion any respect, especially when it's all a load of fabricated bullshit meant to control weak minded people. That's not worth respecting. Not at all. And if people have the "right" of religious choice and freedom to express it, then I so do I. And I say they're all a load of shit.

Let's not trample one person's "rights" just because thier opinion displeases the flock. That's BS.

  • Are the republicans going to blame this on Obama as well?

  • You poor dumb fuck.

  • u're a fucking criminal

  • Holy cow! That's one of the dumbest things I've heard in a while! Now the whole airline is going to have to go to Jewish Awareness trainging I bet! Good for them, don't know a freakin prayer box when you see one! If I was that kid I would have been pissed!

  • WHY does non one sue the religious leaders of the Abrahamic death cults (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) to regain the money lost through their adherents nonsense?

IS there a reason thinking people continue to acquiesce to the whims of these death cultists?

WHAT will it take to rid the world of the religious parasite that contaminates the human brain?

  • @whyiswhat: then why don't we just get rid of the whole Human race? As we all carry common diseases such as hatred, greed, etc, etc, etc? If you believe you can build a perfect world society as the Communist dream did believe (in the end it was nothing but a rude failure) go on... you'll end up in the same place they did. Thankfully you have good examples to learn from and improve. Unfortunately you don't want to.

  • The failed communist experiment you point to was a false paradigm. A representative socialism that was no different than our representative democracy. Well one small difference, we have two or three parties they only have one. There is no difference, the choices are still the same, preselected puppetedents to pick from.

In a true Utopian socialist society there would be no government. Just because you can't imagine it doesn't mean it's not possible.

Is your vision of the future - Blade Runner

  • Perhaps... in theory it works. But in practice it failed. And Blade Runner is just a movie - but I don't know... perhaps sometime in the future it will happen, and it will succeed, or not.

  • WHY do you extrapolate from my statement that we should rid our selves of the human race?

IS that not the position of the death cultist who continuously remind us of how base, filthy, contemptible, sinful and deserving of eternal torture the human race is?

WHAT particular death cult do you subscribe to, or feel the need to defend, that makes you clearly so dishonest and disingenuous?

  • @whyiswhat: Extrapolate your statement? That's a good laugh. You don't know me personally, so you will never be able to judge me, by only thinking that I have a religion or not. Dishonest - never have been. Disingenuous - never have been. Naive? Perhaps... because I still believe that Mankind can always be better and do good.

  • Was he escorted on the plane without a passport by a well dressed man?

  • Didn't he go through security? Why did she freak out?

If the phylactory passed inspection, she shouldn't have had a problem with it.

    Pure stupidity.

  • The christmas day bomber also passed through security, therefore your logic suggests the stews. should'nt have had any problems either.

  • Dude did NOT get screened... Not that the screeners would have caught powder in his drawls. But he was escorted right onto the plane... past security.

  • @AAAAkuuuu I'm sure standard TSA guidelines mention tefillin. Second of all, he left from New York City's LaGuardia. In case your not aware, New York City has the highest concentration of Jews in the country, making up around 20% of the city's population. Orthodox Jewish men will always bring their tefilin with them when going on a flight, as they must don them everyday except for the Sabbath. I am sure the TSA agents at LAGuardia are quite familiar with what 2 by 2 leather boxes are.

  • HOLY CRAP people are dumb 9/11 false flag attack used to bring in a illegal patriot act witch goes against the constitution. oh yea "god is dead and no one cares, so if there is a hell i'll see you there" trent rezner

    '

  • Obama's liberal stormtroopers overreacted. Maybe if these idiots were better educated the whole episode would have never occured.

  • The world doesn't run on education, information data or truth. It runs on emotion, fear mostly. People are bombarded with stuff to fear everyday: Fear of terror, fear of change, fear of losing a job, home, mate or children, fear of external enemies, fear of not having enough stuff to attract a suitable whore to mate with, fear of never knowing where we came from, fear of death and the unknown, fear of eternal torture for not picking the right god and worshiping it properly

    So much to fear

  • awesome

  • I'm pretty sure it's not called an olfactory. Though also on the head, that is a nerve in the sinuses that allows for the sense of smell. Try Phylactery.

  • Just ban religion in public.

No churches and no outward signs of your religion.

  • @adolfhitler: freedom is nothing then? Freedom is to be shaped according your own desires? Shut up and go back to your rat hole, you freak.

  • @AvatarMarxon90

    Its not adolf you moron.

Freedom for the rest of the plane?

Whats he need the boxes for?

God really wants those boxes strapped to his head and arm?

Why can't nudists get on the plane naked?

Freedom my arse, don't go asserting your stupidity on the rest of the world.

  • @adolthitler: I apologize for the error on your nickname. Anyways, you can't have such a stupid example such as a nudist and a man with a little box on their head. It's completly different and it just explains how retarded you really are. Though I agree that the man shouldn't have went on board with those boxes; you can't just go on spreading your half-assed crap around such as banning all churches and public signs of your beliefs. I guess you should expect anything from that side of the globe.

  • Its not stupid that you oppress the rights of a man who chooses to wear no clothes?

But its stupid to oppress the rights of a man that chooses to wear odd boxes and straps on a plane, where such things often end in explosions?

    Who is retarded again?

    Who is oppressing who here?

The only reason we have bombs on planes is religion.

  • Or better said, the only reason we have bombs on planes is because of fanatical and extremist Islamic groups. You don't see other religions doing it, so you can't generalize (once again). The Germans are all guilty because of the terrors made by only a part of its population during World War 2? Definately no.

  • @AvatarMarxon90

LOL you think christians are not that crazy?

    They bomb abortion clinics.

The world is a dangerous place because of religion. We should respect al-Quaeda, if we are to respect religions.

  • @adolthitler

No, the only reason we have bombs on planes is because of islam, a cult of violent, hatred and death.

  • @Lagolop Ok so we can't allow bombs on planes but we can allow them in abortion clinics? Are christian bombs the "good" bombs?

I support you on Islam being a vile religion, but so is christianity for pretty much the same reasons.

All religion has all the same problems.

  • @adolthitler

I sort of agree with you. All religions have their extreme components and I think religion has been the cause of wars time and again.

Islam is not only a religion but an ideology, a dangerous one. It takes top honors these days. I am no religious expert but it seems to me that while Judaism and Christianity has progressed, islam has regressed to it most base.

PS no bombs are good bombs, no terrorists are good, and NONE should be referred to as "freedom fighters"

  • The Islamic Nuts make it tough for the Islamic Non Nuts & all the others. It's reasonable to make the connection that a box might be included in the Islamic Nuts' Exploding Arsenal. Shoes & underware have already been used by these Islamic Nuts, so why not a box. The only way to ever turn this craziness around is for the Islamic Non Nuts to stand up to the Islamic Nuts. The Islamic Non Nuts need to report these Islamic Nuts at every turn, especially when they're preparing to blow themselves up.

  • Thanks for the anti-islam rant, but this had nothing to do with islam. Praying with the tefflin is a JEWISH religious rite.

I'm not a religious person at all, but come on folks, haven't we all seen devout jewish people on TV or in movies, with these little boxes tied to their heads?

Doesn't the airline have ANY diversity training, to prepare the ignorant flight attendant on the use of phylacteries?

    Well, they will now.

  • lol "idiot" americans!?!? ahahahah

  • On the one hard, this is obviously an inappropriate overreaction on the part of the flight attendant. On the other hand, why the hell do yo need to strap boxes to yourself to talk to god? That's just silly.

  • Mighty tolerant, ace.

  • You can call it ignorant, you can call it irreverent, but sarcastically saying it's intolerant is ridiculous. Intolerant would be saying "these box-wearing people must be stopped!" and I'm ambivalent, in all honesty. It just strikes me as a little strange to need paraphernalia to pray, but I'm not particularly religious, so obviously I am biased.

  • WTF? People need to stop freaking out. Look what Bush did to our country. And yes 9/11 was an inside job.

  • HeeHee, there wasn't a single other jew or reasonably intelligent person on the plane?: )

  • a religious device known as "olfactory"!?

  • Religion has finally gotten out of control.

  • religion has been out of control for a very long time

  • ya gotta be kidding me they freaked out over a Jewish prayer box.....

  • So you landed the plane because of some lady that complained.

What happened with the Christmas bomber?

He didn't even have a passport yet was let on an international flight.

    INSIDE JOB!

  • true!

  • lol
