  • Love this. Are you a photographer? I'm an amateur photographer and you seem to have taken care over framing, and have captured the mood really well, like I try to with my photos. I've recently bought a crappy old video camera and you've inspired me! I hope you don't mind if I copy your idea.

  • go for it, zedbra. follow your dreams

  • i like the fact that u r sensitive to everythin around u. ur artistic skills n sensitivity animates everythin 4 u, right? it feels great.

Havnt seen anythin like ur vids on YT.

  • thanks a lot for that thoughtful comment, matchingsky. i wish i could sustain a similar outlook in all aspects of life, but sometimes i get down, just like everyone else. I suppose my videos are a means for me to construct a vision of how i wish i could be more often. and a good excuse to stop and smell the roses.

  • of course u get down sometimes. as i said, u r sensitive(not in the weepy, emotional kinda way..oh but u get it.) but thats ok. v all survive that. :-) And ur vids r a vision of wat u ARE . noone can impart 2 any1 a feeling thru a vid that they dint feel while making it.

i'm sick of me talking this way now.. u tc!

  • That's how I feel after making one of the videos where I talk. ha ha! I suppose the internet offers the potential to show yourself in the best light possible, because what is posted is a construction based on choices. We get to put our best foot forward if we choose to. I really appreciate your comment, matchingsky. Thank you for taking the time to express it.

  • Like a photograph come to life. I love trains as well as B&W. Amazing work.

  • Thank you, TheRavageShow. There is something about black and white that really brings the simple details to the forefront.

  • these images are really attracted to me ... Beauty and industry intertwined ...

    Interesting -

    Greetings-

  • I always enjoy the beauty of decay, and machines always seem to spotlight decay. Thank you for watching, micrimen.

  • have been watchintg a lot of your videos today

this is one of my favorites, along with central park and east village

there are so few b&w vids on youtube

yours have a classical look about them

the editing and narration are awesome

btw what kind of camera do you use?

  • Sorry for the very long delay, tiglath. To answer your question, I use a Canon ZR 850 camcorder. I am a big fan of black and white as well, but lately have been immersing myself into color again.

  • I watch trains every day that I work but I've never seen it dramatic like this. Very nicely done!

  • Thank you, ZoeToots!

  • I love trains. 5*

  • me too.

  • Yep,trains are great!good footage,good sounds too!

  • thanks, man. i ride the train every day, and it's a good thing because gasoline is so expensive these days! cheers.

  • very nice shots... high drama in a subtle way.

  • yeah, you never know when those trains are gonna sneak out!

  • Your shots are always such a great perspective. I like the subject and the chain link view...

  • thank you, cookstrez. it's pretty hard to shoot things in New York without a fence being in the way, ha ha! :)

  • Dude... very wabi sabi.

    Ok. I'm hooked.

  • cool and i like that: wabi sabi. i just looked that up on wikkipedia:

represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience.

    that's a cool thing. thank you. :)

  • Well, thank YOU for posting the vid.

  • wabi sabi describes the cracking cieling, the tattered prayer flags, etc. living with my mom. she always says that; "oh we believe in wabi sabi," haha.

  • and it's also fun to say!

  • 'tis 'tis. yes!

oh, and such beauty in decay...

    [poem? ha]

  • That looked like the intro to a cool movie, you got some good shots man.

  • thanks man! I wonder what the movie would be about. I am glad the tube finally figured out how to host high quality vids, it is making a big difference. Thanks for the sub as well. :)

  • I would normally say graffiti but trains are paint resistant now. :(

  • Hey :)

I like travel of any kind even if it's just a journey to a shop or through a field...artistic people like ourselves see beauty in things like journeys & travels...so just a simple video like this can be very enjoyable & remind a person about all the meaningful journeys that they have made throughout life...like i just did :)

    Cool Video

    Peace & Love

    Pete

    Gabriela

  • More than interesting, Great camera and use of color. I love it.

  • very cool and very New York..

  • That was New York! Home of the crooked governor Elliot Spitzer! Sucka.

  • Reminds me of our conversation the other day talking about troppochook.

Amazing technology we have with these super duper mobile phones and internet chat and stuff and yet we still have these clunky noisy trains that seem somewhat out of our age.

  • Very pretty!

  • that was truly wonderful

  • Yep, it's defintely a transportation series!

  • OK, I just saw planes, now trains, so I'm guessing Automobiles are next? Or Superman!

  • haha I was really waiting for that train in the beginning, geart shootings man, I like the spere and I like TRAINS!!!!

  • thank you, dudean. i just bought a tripod and was trying it out!

  • yeah bro, can't do without!!! I got a big one and a tiny tripod which I often use outside. it helps to create cool images. I also like the hand held shootings especially when I want to create spheres! blairwitch was a stupid movie but I liked the images a lot!!!

  • riding on trains...very good memories! and that sound......ah yes!

  • nice to hear i was on the right track. (har har)

  • ha ha, good! :)

hey congratulations on the job front!

  • What was that the Path? I love trains and the B&W worked great.

  • thank you for the comment on the black and white. i want to try to use my camera to make some videos that work like photographs.

  • you managed that allright! got to check your planes video!

  • And this turns out really well. I like the perspectives you chose, in combination with the sound you make this cityscape look almost elegant.

    Good job!!

  • cool man great feel

  • thank you, bro.

  • I love trains; always brings back wonderful memories and warm thoughs :)

  • they always take me to work, ha ha!

  • Traaaiiiin, train! Take me on out of this town! ;)

I never see trains, anymore, since I moved back from Ohio. Thanx, sweetie! *hugs*

  • your quite welcome, Shortbus!

  • very cool...

  • thank you. there were some people who wondered why i was filming that train, but they never said anything. they just were watching while i pointed the camera. ha ha.

  • I think that has just made me a better person thank you buddy

  • Very well done.

  • thank you, allen. i am so glad it is warming up and i can go out with a camera again. :)

    cheers!

  • I look forward to your future work. You have an amazing eye for simple things, that are visually stimulating.

  • He does amazing work and I believe he was my very first friend here on YT

  • Pretty artistic there,AVDJ. Who would think the anticipation and viewing of a train would be interesting? Yet that was the case.

  • very kewl !! i was like sucked in,it held me there frozen almost. Very Nice Work

  • thank you. i hadn't expected the anticipation aspect of the video when i took my camera out, but i am happiest about that part of it. thank you, kidblood

  • Having such a huge city as a backdrop must really be inspirational!

  • it is nice everyday, but in the summer it smells, ha ha!

  • I imagine it is very easy for Gotham to reek

  • Just like a B&W Photograph in motion. The contrast and depth of the shots is exquisite, and the sound is truly immersing. Another stunning video, my friend.

  • thank you, kassidynet. I managed to get the camera at a good place to record the sound I needed. there are some cool sounds around here, but I always forget to hear them. i like black and white pictures, so this was a fun project.

  • gahhhh... stunning! and the sound, i can almost chew it. brilliant AV ♥

  • Yeah! hee hee. This little camera I have just makes some cool black and white. I love playing around with it. I think I will try to film some more video with photography in mind. this is my first try with a tripod. I like trains!

  • wow. gorgeous like gershwin, visually, and dont you just love the birds, the human chatter the kinaesthetic energy of the train, the stillness of the observer, the silence at the end? too i love boucrate's vision, above. clean green public transportation yah. -- back to the video, amazed visually and by the layered soundscape starred and faved for beauty

  • ha ha, thanks for the gershwin thing, medicinesocks! I really enjoy putting my soundtracks together. This video was shot pretty quickly, but i am happy with the way it turned out. i wanted to do something kind of simple and nice. thanks for checking it out.

  • I like that! Even if I'm living in the birth place of railroad in Canada. No Railroad, no Canada from East to West! And if all goes well trains will be helping us back in a more environmently safe way of living. Marchandises and travelling peoples. As you can see I love Trains! They put me to sleep at night and my house shaking is like being swing in caring arms lol! Great anticipation time in a cool framming bringing out the atmosphere of inner city railroad. And woosh here it goe's. Thanx!:-)

  • yeah, man you are right about the energy we save when we take the train! it's amazing how many have been built since the very beginning. I am glad you happen to be a fan of trains. I see them every day, but sometimes I wonder about the intricate plans required to make it all work.

  • awesome bro, I love the perspectives you are using and that black and white does it!!!

  • Thank you. I am having fun with taking pictures. I want to do some more like this. maybe a candy machine.

  • Relaxing... really. :-)

  • thanks, man. I wanted to stop and smell the roses, but I never could find any.
