  • you look like Rob Riggle.

  • I wouldn't have the outer chains in a practice basket, it forces you to have more accuracy.

  • Terrific clip, thank you very much for posting it. Keep up the great work!

  • Where do you get the chains? Veteran disc golfers.

  • Excellent! What hold the wheel on the fence post?

  • Nice design I'm going to make 1 good video

  • how did you get the bicycle rim to fit so nicely in the main pole? just attached a fitting piece?

  • R u located in mn because I found this basket on craigslist and it looks like the same wall and gravel in the picture backround

  • @BurtonBoardsRule365 Nope I'm in BC Canada

  • Hey Chris,

I love your design and plan to make my own basket very soon. But first I need to ask: how did you attach the tire and spokes to the poll???

    Thanks

  • Hi Chris!

I am about to make a disc golf catcher tomorrow with my friend. We really appreciate your design. How long is each section of chain?

  • @nateismoney23 The Chain Strands are 25" long about 20-21 links of 2/0 long link chain

  • @nateismoney23 The Chain Strands are 25" long about 20-21 links of 2/0 long link chain. Thanks for the positive feedback

  • used alot of your ideas with some of my own .donut spare tire for my base(found it on the river bank)wooden base and top from a 24" wire spool(some people used them as coffee tables back in the day)eye hooks to hold the chains .18 shelf brackets $10.00 (3 to hold the btm,3 to hold the top and 12 on the perimeter)24 eye hooks $6.00 .50 ft. of chain was $25.00.20 ft.of acetylene torch hose was $3.00 at a flea market. So for less than 50 bucks I have a nice basket. Thanks for the great ideas Chris!

  • what size rim did you use for the top of the basket??

  • better than spending 200 on one

  • cool vid, I'm gonna try making one myself too.

  • Wood will rot in the weather. Won't last long. Also, more costly for the parts let alone time invested to make it worth while. Just buy one. Good thinking though

  • Your design makes for one beautiful basket. Honestly it's an amazing thing, and to anyone who does infact love disc golf it's a worthwhile investment. Now to improve to short game and put it to work. Thanks man, you've done a profound service to the sport.

  • This is very impressive and not too hard! Thank you for the video and a great looking product

  • What length did you cut the chains?

  • What length did you cut the chains?

  • I found out from another site that if you get trap chain #2 you can get 100ft for about $50 so you could make two holes for the price of one. Thanks for the help. Hopefully I can get some extra money to get it soon.

  • how well would you think that plastic chains with work i need to cut out some cost

  • @TheSkierka123

I think because they are alot lighter they will not absorb the disc's energy as well and disc's wont stay in as well, to make up for it you could try putting more of the chains on it.

  • @TheSkierka123 If they are alot lighter they will not absorb the disc's energy as well so may not work well on the faster hits. I think you can make up for that by putting more chains on it.

videos basket is so nice, beutiful :)

  • u should make me 1 of those

  • how much would this cost? I'm interested in making one as cheap as I can.

  • Tire rim = free

    fence post = free

Basket brackets and tubing = $22

    Wood = free

Umbrella stand = Free (if you dont have one $20-$25)

Chains = up to $50 but you can put as much or as little as you like

  • Nice video and creative design. Keep up the good work.

  • Check out Innovas website and look at there Disc catcher Pro it has dimensions on the page. also check out PDGA basket requirements which gives you a range of sizes that it must fall in to be used in a competition

  • yes, thank you :-)

  • hello, does anybody know the real proportions of the basket like diameter of that upper circle, height etc.?

  • nice.

  • so how exactly did u connect the wheel to the center pole?

  • Thanks for the info.....:-)

  • what width is the fence post

  • Great idea man, thank you

  • Just made a basket using a lot of your Ideas. Worked great! I did 12 outer and 4 inner chains. Duct tape got to looking kinda trashy (yours was much neater) I used tiny u clamps on spokes . added to cost but looked great. Thanks for the Video

  • Id love to see some pics. Glad to see the video was useful.

  • awesome idea i'm gonna build my own too i hope i can make as good as you : )

  • I have added more detailed info and instructions at the link in the info portion of the video.

  • how many separate chains do you have hanging down?

  • If you are just doing the out side rim 16 strands. I modeled mine after the Innova Discatcher Pro which has 12 outer chains 6 Intermediate and 6 inner for a total of 24 strands.

  • What is the wheel size?

  • The actual rim size is 22.8 inches. The tire that goes on it is a 26" tire. Hope that helps.

  • How did you attach the bike tire to the top of the fence post?

  • I shaved down a piece of 2x2 and rounded it so the tip just fits in the post then turned it upside down and hammered the wood in about 6" or so then cut it off flush with the pole. to keep it in place I put a self tapping screw through the pole holding the inner block of wood in place. Then removed the bike axel and used an 8" wood screw with a washer to screw into the inner block of would. Then your good to go. Hope that helps

  • Awesome video great mind

  • OMG this is hilarious! i mean, great video about disc golf baskets, very inspiring

  • So whats the total cost?

  • Basket cost about $180

  • 180!! you know you can buy them on ebay for 100-175 with free shipping and no work...

  • you get what you pay for. i.e. chains and i built another basket with some of the left over stuff and it only cost $60 so two baskets with 24 and 27 links of chains for $240 is still a good investment to me. I also enjoy building things
