  • Dans mon genre le ti gars !

  • un des mes plus vieux DA dont je me souviennes ! Quel générique, très rythmé, très soul !

the 1st cartoon I ever remembered, i was 7 or 8 and the sound is terrific, so soul ! Great, I love ! Diffused in the earlier 80's in France

  • thanks for posting this, I loved this show.

  • i've been looking for this for years!!! BRILLIANT

  • i love this bit of memory

  • Oh yeah!!! Mainly remember the extreme trauma of watching his pet bunny being mauled when some other animal (fox..?) broke into its wee cave cage.. :'((

Cried for days and Mum would not let me watch Kum Kum for ages!

  • DAMN! I feel dizzy.....lol

  • We got this in the early 90s when I was little at a garage sale. My favourite episode was the one where Kum Kum and his father are trying to trick an ostrich away from her nest so they can steal her eggs XD

  • I had a video of this as a child and loved it! I remember on where The Wise One's son Roman comes home, one where a volcano erupts ash everywhere and one where he had a rabbit called Little Bun and he kept it caged up and a fox killed it!

  • j'adoooore ! que de souvenirs...

  • wwwwhoooo has been a lot of years... only the casuality bring me to this video...

    thanks... a lot.

  • according to the credits this was made in "MCMLXXVII" VII is 7 so it's either 77 or 87

  • After doing a bit of research I have just found the Kum Kum video I had as a child on ebay! but the guy is asking £40 for it so stuff that. It has the episodes: Catching the clouds, The ostrich egg, The seafolk and The rainbow fish.

It is either The seafolk or the Rainbow fish where you see Kum Kum's cock so check it out.

This would explain why I never saw his dad being killed by a bear as some of you have pointed out

  • why is his mum and dad white?

  • The things that stick in my head are:

The last shot of the intro when the characters sit on the rocks and open their mouths at the same time.

An episode where they go into the mountains to catch clouds in bags.

An episode where kum kum has been naughty and is sent to a room by his dad and he eats lots of fruit or veg??

and lastly I remember there is a shot of kum kum's penis! I remember pausing the video in one episode because kum kum is swimming under water and he flashes for some reason.

  • I was humming this music the other day and I remember it was from Kum Kum! My mum gave this to me on video about 24 years ago. I didnt rmember the music having a 70's porno guitar riff! I see that there are full episodes on youtube so will give them a watch later.

  • This is the OUTRO, not the Intro

and Kum Kum is a boy xD

  • Thought i was alone in remembering this one - also remember we got this while other regions got "superman" cartoons

  • Run, little cavegirl, run!

  • I remember one episode where Kum Kum found the bear that killed his dad, he was standing atop a cliff and instead of killing the bear with his spear...he pissed on it's head. It was a mad cartoon from the late 70's/early 80's i think.

  • Are you sure it was this anime?

I remember an episode when kum kum and his dad were hunting a killer bear wich had killed a brother or friend of kum kum´s father many years ago. At the end his dad doesn´t kill the old bear, wich kum kum can´t understand, and think for himself how he will understand as he grows up that you must learn to forgive, or something like that.

This is one of my favorite old anime. Used to watch it irregularly in Mexico. Never knew how it ended.

  • @rickthenailer

Dude, your right, your description was spot on of that particular episode, i remember that when they decided to not kill the bear, either Kum Kum or his dad took a piss from the top of the cliff they were standing on...nailing the bear on the head....is that right?

  • I don´t remember that particular part, but it sounds very possible that kum kum did it, just for the comical effect. This was the first time I knew you could suck your finger wet and puting it up to the wind to feel where the breeze is coming from, so you can walk towards the wind to not scare your pray with your smell. I still think of kum kum each time I do it.

  • watched this when I was 5. Well, 30 years ago...

  • Yo ya la vi cuando tenia unos 18 - 19 años y no sabia que era un anime, si lo hubiera sabido no me hubiera gustado, je je je, pero me encanta, extraordinario, historico y genial, saludos desde mexico

  • ...this looks like some prehistoric anime.

  • I loved Kum Kum. Watched it every Saturday morning (in Australia) on Channel 10 I think.

You can buy the DVD just goggle it :)

  • i think it was some year from 1978 to 1980

  • i used to love this!!! wish i could get it on DVD!!!

  • BLAST FROM THE PAST OR WHAT!!

i SEARCHED FOR THIS BECAUSE i THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERED IT!! OMG!!! ROCK ON!!!!!

  • JEAH ME TOO!!

When I told everybody I'm searching for an anime with a kid living at the stone age everybody said they don't know it. But I watched it every time I visited my grandma, she even recorded it for me but deleted it afterwarts. I was very little when I watched it, maybe not older than 3 or 4 years! I'm soo happy I've found it!

  • @cutemeet me too!

  • @cutemeet I thought the same thing too.

  • Cool...there was a brontosaurus wasn't there...?

  • i was probably 7 or 8 when i used to watch this. great show but is it available on DVD?

  • god I hated him

  • This was an excellent animation. I'm lucky enough to own four episode on video. Unfortunately I've had the video since the 80's and it is much loved and doesn't play very well anymore.

  • KUM KUM POR FIN!!!, AT LAST!!!!

  • Kum Kum rulz !!!!

  • muchas gracias por subir esta caricatura, es de las primeras que vi en mi infancia, si alguien por aqui sabe donde la puedo encontrar en español se los agradeceria mucho me informaran. Saludos desde México.

  • Eran las mejores caricaturas de la época.

  • This show was the best!!!

  • Hurrah! Nobody believed me that this cartoon exists. Yay!

  • Man i used to like this cartoon, it brings back alot of childhood memories. lol. thanks for posting it

  • i remember this oh yeah, i think my fave ep was the one with the rainbow fish that they tried to catch lol loved it

  • Saturday afternoons in Zimbabwe. My mother knew it was the only time she could get us to sit down and eat lunch, so she scheduled meals around it. When I have kids, I hope they will love it too.

  • Eu achava que havia sido um sonho meu, pois nunca havia encontrado ninguém que lembrasse deste desenho como eu... Passou aqui no Brasil na década de 80... Obrigado, foi maravilhoso reve-lo.

  • Kum Kum was ace. He even used to stop and take a piss sometimes. They'd NEVER show that these days, with the world gone PC mad!

  • wow that brings back memory tx man for the vidio kum kum was on ten kimba on abc

  • Totally remember this one. It was on Australian TV. My little sister and I were obsessed by it and it was only only randomly very early in the morning (I think on ABC or Ten). We used to scream 'Kum Kum' when it came on, then we were quiet for the rest of the show. Mum liked it too, obviously. Also Kimba and later Star Blazers - but Kum Kum was our fave.

  • This heavily reminds me of the original Dragon Ball. I don't know why...

  • i used to love this. i even whistled the tune in perfect time after about 25 years! i remember 1 episode kum kum tried to hunt a wild boar for its tusks so he could say he killed a mamoth!

kids dont get quality cartoons like this anymore!

  • my brother and i love this cartoon, brings tears to my eyes, i rememberthem tring to get a rainbow fish into an enclosure, get upset then free it! does anybody else rember that? Anyone know if we can buy the english versions on dvd, or anybody got them 2 upload onto you tube, would love to see em all!

  • I loved hearing his theme song again after almost 25 years. I never missed Kum Kum in the early eighties and would often cry and laugh with every adventure. I still whistle the tune many years later. Thanks for posting this gem.

  • Thanks for posting this in colour! All I'd seen previously was a B&W one. I remember loving this years ago, before I even knew what "manga" and "anime" were. I had no idea, at the time, that it was Japanese. All I knew was that it was fun. And that Wildflower was a sex goddess, LOL!

  • i liked this series too when i was young,i allways remind an episody when kukm and friends are going to hunt a wild boar and then appears the wild boar´s mother and it pursues to everybody.but here i saw the original open and the diference whit the american version are abysmal.

  • It credits Keith Scott... I wonder if it's the very same Keith Scott who played Bullwinkle in the movie, and wrote the page turner, The Moose that Roared.

  • Yes,i remember this Japanese animation,it is "Naughty Prehistoric Kum Kum" or "Kum Kum the Menace" the original title is "Wanpaku Omukashi Kum Kum"in Italy the title was "KUM KUM"!!I used to watch it in the Italian TV when i was a kid,and i loved this series!!
