Friend, I have a white macbook 2010, when you go COMPUTER tab has two options of Mac models. In my case when I go to this tab, my Macbook does not appear. The white macbook is not compatible with the Apple TV to view movies that are on it?
hey, i think yiu can help me here.. ive rented a movie on apple tv and when i hit "play" it doesn't really show.. it comes back to the main menu i dont know why .. PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP
It's because it's still buffering or your ISP connection is slow, remember you gotta have at least 5Mbps connection for any content to play immediately, if not, apple's lowest recommendation is 1 Mbps this will play your movie in about 10~30 min depending if the movie is HD or not.
Maybe I am missing something, but I just dont see the purpose for something like this. Seems like a very roundabout way of watching video. I just download/stream a movie and play it from my laptop on my TV. Maybe I lucked into a good system? As for there being no TV shows in Canada...dude Fox is on ever Canadian cable or sat network.
@gazaraider Right now I do the same, I get my HD movies from the internet and plug my MacBook Pro up to my TV and play the videos using Plex media center. But I'm considering getting an Apple TV and jailbreak it so I can watch my plex movies without hooking up my laptop every time.
@MaxxABillion i would disagree substantially... having internet on your tv just isn't a satisfying experience or at least to me it doesn't seem so.. mouse tiny scroller moving around the screen typing on your lap.. just seems better to use a laptop.. apple tv is just going to get better over time.. i.e. airplay and possibly apps
I bought 2 of these yesterday. Im extremely impressed. Setup is simple and quick. The speed is also incredible. I would give it a perfect 10. For $99 there is no competitor.
Can you use the AppleTV with a PC to stream movies you own, or do you have to have a Mac to stream your own movies? And do the movies have to be in a particular format?
If you're streaming a video from a computer using Apple TV, can you use the computer simultaneously while streaming from it? Eg. can someone use the computer to surf the internet or play games (or even watch DVDs) while another person is streaming content from it using Apple TV in another room?
@iBast Of course. You actually don't need an Apple TV to try that. If you have two computers turn on Home Sharing on iTunes on both and you can stream and sync content between them.
Can it play AVI movie/video files that i may have in my folder? Also, I can't stream netflix because I am not in the US mainland, I would have to change my IP. Being that you are in Canada do you have any issues streaming netflix on the computer and apple TV?
why is called apple TV? if it isnt one
huzy71 8 months ago
@huzy71 because you use it with your tv, im sure IF Apple were to ever make an actual tv it would be called something like Apple Vision lol

I'd like to know if it is possible to watch the movies that is on your TimeCapsule without turning on your Mac?
TobiasNorbo 1 year ago
@TobiasNorbo The Time Capsule doesn't have any media server that I'm aware of. So I don't think you can.
