A bit from my fault, because I made emotional comment (bad idea in discussion).
What I mean is, that of course there were differences between every totalitarian regime.
But every one use violence to put into power, every use violence to control all people, and main 3 totalitarian systems in 30's, despite differences, were very similar.
Nazis were deadly opponent for Communists and vice versa is true, BUT look how similar this systems were!

This documentary exactly points out the democratic working-class nature of the October Revolution, which is in complete opposition to the Chinese or North Korean society, 'cause these are a dictatorship of a bureaucracy, not workers' democracies.
@Voinar010 then how come the main opposition to the NSDAP were the german communists? and why would hitler demonize marxism if they were = ? how do you think hitler gained absolute power? Do you know his party burned down the reichstag in a false flag operation and blamed the communists! Your stupid comment reminds me of a t-shirt that my sister-in-law bought me... "socialism does not equal fascism, if you don't know the difference turn off fox news and open a book". i suggest you do the same.
@BarbarasUrates Nobody is certain if hitler or his party were involved in that fire. Its true that it put him in a favorable position to gain more political power but that is not a good reason to say they were invoved.
Stalinism has some common symptoms with nazism. But else it's bullshit.
Did you even know, that multinational corporations widely did business with Nazi Germany and financed those fascists? The U.S intelligence even used fascists after WWII under the cold war, to establish military ditatorships in Latin America, tortur the populace and crush the workers' movements.
Ireland has different set of problems, and communism will not solve it. every nation should follow its own style of govt., if you are happy in communism than so be it just like china
@teja722 Only the majority of the Chinese populace lives in poverty and is not content with the decisions its government makes. Those who speak out are silenced, and the government has amassed the largest army in the world. Then again, the army could also turn against the government, but no signs of that happening any time soon.
American money keeps the police and army fed. Once again have americans dirtied themselves by supporting oppressive thugs. Russians might support North Korea with some aid but that is hardly as huge as the massive aid China gives to it. What does this prove? All superpowers are evil.
@DuffmanIRL It is not only about the economy, when everyone is equal noone feels special, there is no reason to study, sweeping the streets earns as much as being a doctor.
People wouldn't like communism, and if the people are not supportive, your government fails.
So communism does not work.
(not saying that capitalism is good either, but it's better than communism.)
@imperialcommisar No, the idea itself fails precisely because Marx never understood human nature. Capitalism fully admits that we are greedy persons by nature. It accepts that fact and tries to turn it into a good thing. And guess what? It works.
@teja722 Communism has only ever been defeated by military force, it has never failed. This is coming from the failed capitalist state Ireland. Communism (economic democracy) will be made real or humanity will destroy itself through capitalism.
@DuffmanIRL Communism has also never existed in any significant size. Place like North Korea and China like to picture themselves as communist when they are actually socialist. At least that's my understanding of it.
And just how did Lenin, as a political exile and ex prisoner, manage to get himself a sealed private train back to Russia from Switzerland - passing through a European continent still at war?
@afm1711 Pretty simple really. Lenin was part of an exchange program: Russian exiles for German civilians interned in Russia. The Germans had no problem with it because they knew the Bolsheviks would create domestic trouble for the Russians.
It was simply a family feud. Ulyanov a volga german was angry for another german Tsar for giving his bro a humiliating death. Another teuton Willy brought war to Russia and showed understanding towards Ulyanov. Kerensky who was a pure slav imprisoned the Tsar. This was a chance for revenge. Ulyanov took it and that was it. Rest of the Romanov family what was left got to feel the pain of losing a close relative.
@BENNYSIEGEL90 "Kerensky who was a pure slav imprisoned the Tsar. This was a chance for revenge. Ulyanov took it and that was it."
Not quite. Kerensky moved the Romanovs to Tsarskoe Selo, east of the Urals. They were nominally under house arrest but given their location and the looseness of their captivity, it couldn't be called imprisonment. It was only after the Bolsheviks moved them to Ekaterinberg that they were under close arrest before being murdered by the Bolsheviks in July.
"I am well on the side of safety when I say that the anti-Bolsheviks killed one hundred people in Eastern Siberia to every one killed by the Bolsheviks." General William S. Graves. The western countries allied with the anti-semetic white army and committed white terror. The Red Army was an army of workers, when they saw white terror, they used Red terror against the white tsarist armies.
The Soviets did seize supreme power, but in 1919 they began to lose their power and a party dictatorship/ bureaucracy formed. If you were a worker or a poor peasant you were automatically not affected by red terror, but white terror. The Checka was an all volunteer worker composed police force necessary to defend the revolution until the international proletariat revolution commenced. The it was known that if the international revolution failed, then the Russian Revolution would fail.
@4500jas "If you were a worker or a poor peasant you were automatically not affected by red terror, but white terror."
This is incorrect. The Bolsheviks effectively fought two civil wars: one against the Whites and one against the peasants, who they accused of hoarding grain. Squads of unemployed factory workers were armed and sent around the country to extract grain from peasants. They looted, raped, burnt, murdered and otherwise terrorised the peasant population. Party ideology gone mad.
@4500jas "The Checka was an all volunteer worker composed police force necessary to defend the revolution until the international proletariat revolution commenced."
No. Cheka was created to protect the interests of the Bolshevik party. The revolution could have happened without either of them. It very nearly did. If Kerensky had been smart, he could have arrested all the Bolsheviks in July. The Extraordinary Assembly nearly put them out of business. By 1918 the workers hated the Bolsheviks.
White terror was far worst than red terror, but if you think red terror as what the monstrous Stalin did you are wrong. In red terror the the capitalists and the rich White army supporters in other words the oppressors were terrorized. Keep in mind Lenin released the tsarist generals after the October Revolution, then the generals attacked months later.
@4500jas Stalin was not the leader during the Red Terror.
Yes: the Red Terror was designed to oppress the oppressors. It soon went a lot further than that. Anyone could be accused of counter revolutionary activities, locked in a Cheka prison (which was far worse than a Tsarist one) , given a show trial and summarily executed.
The Red Terror wasn't about getting equal. It was about getting even.
communism is clearly more better. I dont understand how it coould get any more free then it. In a shity democracy there is so much wrong with it, its not even funny. All u capitalits should read the Communist Manifesto or the Principles Of Communism
@Teutonic1250 hey you! ... holding beer in one hand and juicy stake in the other, having 3 cars the house, driving on the beautiful roads , can live anywhere in the USA . etc. and you are calling for the revolution , what else do you need ?
what a losers, the commies killed the great Emperor, and then the commie regime killed those people who killed tzar plus 40 million of others of their own people. Totally brainwashed, first thinking that communism is good, and then they suffered even more, this is how it goes when people believing in lies!
@JohanOlsson this was not communism, it was socialism, there has never been true communism in any country as it is not possible for it to exist without slave labour effectivly and fear is an extremely effective tool
@sasgayuchiha1228 well yeah sure, but Soviet was the first state in the world who created so called Communism "as they called it" :P yeah you are right, but still if we look at all those dictator countries which call themselves communistic, they are really brutal all of them =( Soviet/Russia, Burma, China and many more =( but a social country should have freedom and democracy and not include mass murdering or slavery which soviet had and all those other countries =( have a nice day =)
@JohanOlsson Yeah, of course, nobody got killed before the Bolsheviks arrived, did they? You can point to statistics and say only 4000 people were executed during the last 100 years of the Romanovs (including Lenin's brother) but that ignores all the exra-judicial executions and sanctioned murders by the land captains, the police, the village elders and Third Section which eventually morphed into Okhrana. Outside of the cities, Imperial Russia was totally anarchic.
@Camerameister1 Hi there =) hehe I've never said that, Romonovs army never killed anyone, but you have to understand that 4000 thousands compare to 40 millions which communists killed, is a totally HUGE difference =) have a nice weekend =) not its time for Modern warfare =) cheers =)
@JohanOlsson See, this is the problem 4000 is the OFFICIAL figure. The REAL figure is much higher. Don't forget; peasants had no rights until 1861. Even after that extra-judicial murder was extremely common. Re-read what I said.
And that figure of 40 million is almost impossible to justify. I'd call it propaganda.
I'm not trying to excuse the Red Terror. I'm saying that it was no better on the other side. Some people want you to believe Russia was a peaceful place until the Bolsheviks arrived.
@Camerameister1 hi again =) hehe thanks for the info :P yeah you are right about the killings during the Romonov times, but still the numbers weren't that huge as during the communism times. It says that Communists got a world record in killings =( not even during the war of Napoleon or during Alexander the great, the numbers wasn't even close compare to the communists killings =) but of course every Single-man ruling regime sucks =) But still Tsar Nikolai was nicer :P take care man =)
@JohanOlsson This is why people who believe in polemics should never be trusted with history.
WHO says anyone had a "world record" or what the figure was? I'm sick of having to bat away stupid, unsubstantiated allegations like this with real history when people like you do no reading and expect to be able to "win" the game with silly comments like that.
Can you quote any evidence of this claim? I am frankly incredulous that anyone could believe it. Have you never heard of the army opening fire on peaceful protesters in 1905? How do you think that revolution started?
January 9th 1905. Look it up. Anyway, it was not an isolated incident. The Tsar's army opened fire on strikers and even other soldiers off at the war (Lake Naroch, I think).
@JohanOlsson "this is how it goes when people believing in lies"
What lies?
People believed in ideals and for 6 months it looked like it might work. See, this is the trouble when you believe in polemics: you can be tricked into believing anything. Nobody doubts the Red Terror or Cheka oppression. Trouble is, nobody seems to have heard of the White Terror or the pogroms against the Jews.
@Teutonic1250 agreed, but we cant allow socialists, communists, anarchists, monarchies, Liberals, and most of all; Dictatorships to come in and fill up the power struggle
@Teutonic1250 Its not just america that needs a revolution man, speaking from Ireland I think we need a linked revolution across all western countries if not all the world. Its just that all the probs are best exampled from america.its like the states leads the way towards big brother and the rest of us other countries slowly but very surely follow.
Capitalism cannot exist without the master-slave relationship, and it's an insult to the word 'freedom' to apply it to capitalism. Freedom to choose your master, that's all.
@michaelwuzthere I hope someone tells you when to eat shit breath blink cause according to your pathetic mumbling your certainly not capable of practicing higher functions like, oh. I don't know...thinking. Try it once but please don't weaken the nation in doing so. Now go away or you'll get smacked in the ass; that'd give you a splitting headache.
You keep saying that to yourself. The fact is that as corporations keep abandoning American workers, as Wall Street keeps robbing these workers of whatever they have left after having survived itself because of massive government bailouts, and as the government does nothing to give a hand to the dying middle class, people are reaching their breaking point. If this trend continues, things will unfold in an ugly fashion for Wall Street and the megacorporations.
@echatterwa Don't believe everything you ingest. Your socialism is what's collapsing everything. 1 by 1 postwar Europe became socialist economies, Latin America, Israel..you name it. Now, 40-50 yrs. later, those countries that were unproductive/slothful see Italy,Greece,Spain, etc. are crying for bailouts. This is the end result of socialism. Here in US these bailouts are attempts TO nationalize industry. Laugh it up while you destroy yourself and blame me for it imbecile.
@chickenwretch European countries are unproductive as a whole? Northern Europe has some of the world's most productive countries (including many that are more productive than the United States) while having some of the largest social welfare systems in the world.
@echatterwa Don't you follow the news, not Tass or Pravda, or MSNBC. Germany is getting tired of bailing out the likes of Greece; you deliberately twist and shout. That's exactly what's shaping up here in America; Texans are tired of floating Californian sloth. I know, I'm Californian, to my shame. Some of my other threads qualify how and where socialism can be viable. But again, capital isn't magic dust from the skies, it's generated by a worldwide pool of limited value. War's for control of it
@echatterwa I believe it was the socialist impulse to grant mortgages to unqualified wage/no wage earners that toppled markets, coupled with BUBBLE GREED tasted by all, from lenders down to lendees. Yes Calif's. economy is huge and its inevitable collapse will begin Federal bailouts of states, which is what this is all about anyway; the hysterical desire for centralized power and the dimunition of state hegemony.
@chickenwretch "I believe it was the socialist impulse to grant mortgages to unqualified wage/no wage earners that toppled markets"
Was it really "socialist" though? The greed bubble you refer to tends to nullify that argument because the financial institutions were only too happy to get further into the housing market in the belief that they could not lose.
@Camerameister1 I don't think they thought they could have lost. You see, I'm more cynical than your not accreditng me. The whole stunt was a huge shuffling about of money; who profitted at the end of all this? banks, coming and going. And probably many other players.
@chickenwretch Oh, I agree with you. I'm not discrediting you at all. I especially agree with your comment about cronyism but with the rider that it happens in all political and economic systems.
@chickenwretch Yes but Germany itself is in pretty good economic shape, isn't it?
And California's economy is still much bigger than Texas's economy. It is true that Texas survived the recession much better than California. The irony here is that the reason why Texas fared so well through the recession is because of socialist regulation (dating from the 19th century) of its housing market, which saved them from the housing crisis that devastated California.
@chickenwretch As for nationalization, I WISH the bailouts had been used to nationalize the financial sector. If we had done that, we could have actually made them stop foreclosures and jumpstart lending to small businesses so that these businesses could create jobs. As it turned out, the banks just received a free bailout and sat on the money, continuing foreclosures at a steady rate and refusing to lend to small businesses.
@chickenwretch And Latin America became socialist after World War II? In what universe? Until a decade ago, Latin America was dominated by hard-core capitalist policies that did nothing to improve the lives of ordinary people there. Why do you think the people in Latin America have become so left-wing? It's because they realize that unfettered capitalism only works for the superwealthy.
@echatterwa Wrong again: all major holdings were controlled by an oligarchy that nationalized said holdings. Crony capitalism akin to Obamas Wall St.-GM-Green industry bailouts. Call it Right call it Left, its money and power CENTRALIZED in the hands of a few, the opposite of a constitutional Republic working from a free market model. What Americas become is something it never was; socialist. We are in the midst of hoisting that socialist flag thus, the bickering.
@echatterwa A bribe of this magnitude doesn't need to be called "nationalized," it was big filthy money split up between Wall St. and politicians of both stripes. Where did the money to reimburse these TARP scandals come from? us, the American taxpayer.
@chickenwretch Well, as I understand it, it was all part of the credit default swap scam which was rife in Wall St. Basically, companies would use AIG's AAA rating to invest in other projects, leaving AIG in credit to people who could not pay. That's something pension funds should not be subject to.
@chickenwretch No it doesn't sound similar to Social Security. Social Security has never missed a payment and is projected to remain solvent for decades to come. There really is no comparison between that and the private pension funds that were devastated by Wall Street gambling.
@echatterwa You're right, crony capitalism isn't socialism, its worse. We the small ones, derived nothing from this activity. At least under socialism there would argueably be a levelling and portioning out of funds. No, we all lost on this one; that's why I can't understand anyone approving a 2nd or 3rd etc.bailout. But it is a strong way to collapse a corruptly operating system.
@Camerameister1 thats obvious, and clearly he knows what hes talking about but they could atleast put subtitles or something so that i could understand it lol
@Teutonic1250 Ahahaha, another Revolution for your pig scum selves, who do not want to work, but suck off the hard working rich. Pigs like you are who helped get us into an economic mess with your debts! Yet, while the middle class is being taxed, wiped out and are being starved, you pigs, meanwhile, SUCK off their LITTLE bits of WEALTH. Vermin scum. Communism is a failure. Vermin.
@Tyco200 Stop masking your lack of intelligence with epithets. Do you have any proof that the poor are necessarily lazy? Maybe they are hardworking but lack the opportunities of ascending in the social scale, having not been able tu PURCHASE a good education or being in the social circle required to get good contacts so as to get good jobs. Oh, and when they said "another revolution", who was pointing to a communist one? Get real.
@Titi1ShadyLady No, he doesn't. He's been bandying this crap around in other threads too. He's just a brainwashed libertarian who is trying desperately to get people to believe he understands history with no factual knowledge at all.
This guy actually believes that Tsarist Russia was a happy little kingdom of benevolent rich people who got there off the sweat of their brows. He has read nothing of any substance on this subject and prefers to head but his way through with dogma.
@Tyco200 Amen to that brother. Most of these neocoms are still pubescient or attending PC colleges of their parents choice, since they, or something else, is subsidizing their braindead education. Fearfully, these money-spending Marxists are shitting in our nest but they'll be living in it longer than us. I got your back man, keep it up!
@Camerameister1 I reiterate: communism as has been practiced in the 20th century, has had to be imposed upon the populace due to its power-paranoia. The very Marxist precepts HAVE to be dictated because of its twisted definition of Mankind, and Marxs' insufferable selfrighteous impulses. Give me a practical historical model of Libertarian Communism that lasted, and became nationalized. I can't strain a venture. Thus, aptly...theory.
@chickenwretch Again, I quote my example of the Spanish Civil War. They probably would have survived had they not been overrun. ALL revolutionary philosophies, if not volunteered, have to be enforced. But you need to look at the countries where it happened to see why. There are always pre-existing conditions for revolution.
My point is that this sort of thing is not confined to communism. It applies to all revolutionary philosophies. You can assume the same for their implementation.
@TheWhoaDude There was a Soviet republic called Kaluga, which almost worked. It actually required all visitors from Moscow to have passports to get in! It was the the emergency of the civil war which necessitated centralised control and thus, overrode Kaluga's independence but it was, until then, a functioning communist state.
@Tyco200 You mean pig scum like Wall Street firms, who started this economic crisis but got trillions in bailouts and zero-interest loans while victims of foreclosure and unemployment got screwed?

AN IDEAL STRONGEST FORM OF DEMOCRACY INCLUDED (See Subchapter 3.1.2.1, Chapter 3, of Part One.).
It's just people like Stalin and Moa - men who are unwilling to give up power once they have it - who screw everthing up.
Also, puplic service. Who pays for and organises police and medical care and transport and so on if there is no government or taxes - that's the only thing I can't get my head around.
@jeramahia123 Communism was prostituted by people like Stalin and Mao. Communism revolves around the idea of self governing communes or soviets. The functions of central government in the ideal of communism are extremely limited. However, it was easy for a man like Stalin to exploit the system and turn it into a totalitarian state.
This is the difference between ideology and practice. As Professor Kevin Passmore says "Utopianism always leads to terror".
@jeramahia123 from what i understand, only in the final stage of communism is it no longer necessary for government, in the beginning, the government imposes very high taxes from every citizen to support every citizen and it is from this pool that public service is provided for. The idea is that goverment and even money will slowly wither away until the people are experts at governing, and providing for themselves.
The Kaiser allowed Lenin to move by train from Switzerland thru Germany to Russia. Germany believed Lenin would stir up trouble in Moscow & call for a truce w/ Germany so that the Kaiser could focus on fighting France & Britain. The first Russian Revolution wasn't Marxist but had many democrats in the govt. But the Bolsheviks won the Civil War & took power over all Russia.
@AlternityGM There were actually 3 revolutions; 1905, which resulted in the establishment of the Duma, February 1917, which was very bloody and resulted in the abdication of the tsar and the beginning of a popular mandate and October 1917 which was the Bolshevik revolution and the descent into civil war.
@z0mb1nat3r - No it is the actor Warren Beatty playing the character John Reed who wrote the famous book Ten Days That Shook The World based on his observations of the RR
If the socialists think their way of life is best, let them go to some island or small country and make a go of it. Stop migrating to the richest parts of the world to muck up the local politics, pit people against each other, then take over the works through subversion and terrorism.
I keep on hearing how great "real" socialism is. Well then you go live that way, and leave me be. If I want to buy your ideological product, I'll let you know. Stop trying to shove it down our "stupid" throats.
@Velzish So what about Kruschev, and Breznev were they nice little men hmmmm i do read and Russia has been a demonic satans paradise untill the early 90s. Look the idea of socialisime in society cant and wont work as the human race is genraly greedy.
Everyone whants to be rich thats why you had so many escape to the west thats why the soviets built the wall in east germany to stop the peaple escaping the bullshit that was socialisim, because it was shit FACT
@mrjkt123 Socialism doesn't fail because people are greedy, but because people aren't stupid. When they see rich socialists lording over them while they work and starve, it's not difficult to figure out why they're outraged.
I don't care what stupid ideolgical reason you use to tell me that the work that I do belongs to you, or the products that I make belong to you. If you want what I have, either prepare to pay for it or prepare for a fight.
@DrCruel Mate learn the definition of socialism before you try to slander it, it's not about rich people lording over everyone while they work and it doesn't state that everything you make belongs to everyone, it's supposed to be the opposite of that, you own what you produce, power to the workers, there has never been a country that has used a complete socialist system sure there has been those that have built some degree of socialism but never complete socialism.
@DrCruel And just because facists and dictators have claimed to be socialist/communist doesn't make it so, both communism and socialism have gained a bad reputation due to dickheads commiting atrocities in it's name. Look up the actual definition of communism, a stateless classless society which uses workers concils and there is common ownership of the means of production, now has there ever been a country like that? These so called communist countries are all state controlled.
@lavery869 Just because socialists claim that other socialists aren't "really" socialists doesn't make them any less so. In the 1970s, Bolshevik socialism was all the rage amongst Western Leftists. Only after their fall did these same Leftists "suddenly realize" that the USSR had been a state capitalist regime all along ...
Christians still catch abuse for the Inquisition. I think socialists ought to address their own dirty laundry too, rather than try to pawn it off as someone else's.
@Velzish Shut up you commie bastard yea russia is sooo good half the russians want to live in Europe even when the commie bastards ran russia they all wanted to leave

"Reds"

It was simply a family feud. Ulyanov a volga german was angry for another german Tsar for giving his bro a humiliating death. Another teuton Willy brought war to Russia and showed understanding towards Ulyanov. Kerensky who was a pure slav imprisoned the Tsar. This was a chance for revenge. Ulyanov took it and that was it. Rest of the Romanov family what was left got to feel the pain of losing a close relative.
BENNYSIEGEL90 3 months ago

4500jas 3 months ago
The Soviets did seize supreme power, but in 1919 they began to lose their power and a party dictatorship/ bureaucracy formed. If you were a worker or a poor peasant you were automatically not affected by red terror, but white terror. The Checka was an all volunteer worker composed police force necessary to defend the revolution until the international proletariat revolution commenced. The it was known that if the international revolution failed, then the Russian Revolution would fail.
4500jas 3 months ago
@4500jas "If you were a worker or a poor peasant you were automatically not affected by red terror, but white terror."
This is incorrect. The Bolsheviks effectively fought two civil wars: one against the Whites and one against the peasants, who they accused of hoarding grain. Squads of unemployed factory workers were armed and sent around the country to extract grain from peasants. They looted, raped, burnt, murdered and otherwise terrorised the peasant population. Party ideology gone mad.
Camerameister1 3 months ago
@4500jas "The Checka was an all volunteer worker composed police force necessary to defend the revolution until the international proletariat revolution commenced."
No. Cheka was created to protect the interests of the Bolshevik party. The revolution could have happened without either of them. It very nearly did. If Kerensky had been smart, he could have arrested all the Bolsheviks in July. The Extraordinary Assembly nearly put them out of business. By 1918 the workers hated the Bolsheviks.
Camerameister1 3 months ago
White terror was far worst than red terror, but if you think red terror as what the monstrous Stalin did you are wrong. In red terror the the capitalists and the rich White army supporters in other words the oppressors were terrorized. Keep in mind Lenin released the tsarist generals after the October Revolution, then the generals attacked months later.
4500jas 3 months ago
@4500jas Stalin was not the leader during the Red Terror.
Yes: the Red Terror was designed to oppress the oppressors. It soon went a lot further than that. Anyone could be accused of counter revolutionary activities, locked in a Cheka prison (which was far worse than a Tsarist one) , given a show trial and summarily executed.
The Red Terror wasn't about getting equal. It was about getting even.

Camerameister1 3 months ago
@Camerameister1 Hi there =) hehe I've never said that, Romonovs army never killed anyone, but you have to understand that 4000 thousands compare to 40 millions which communists killed, is a totally HUGE difference =) have a nice weekend =) not its time for Modern warfare =) cheers =)
JohanOlsson 3 months ago
@JohanOlsson See, this is the problem 4000 is the OFFICIAL figure. The REAL figure is much higher. Don't forget; peasants had no rights until 1861. Even after that extra-judicial murder was extremely common. Re-read what I said.
And that figure of 40 million is almost impossible to justify. I'd call it propaganda.
I'm not trying to excuse the Red Terror. I'm saying that it was no better on the other side. Some people want you to believe Russia was a peaceful place until the Bolsheviks arrived.
Camerameister1 3 months ago
@Camerameister1 hi again =) hehe thanks for the info :P yeah you are right about the killings during the Romonov times, but still the numbers weren't that huge as during the communism times. It says that Communists got a world record in killings =( not even during the war of Napoleon or during Alexander the great, the numbers wasn't even close compare to the communists killings =) but of course every Single-man ruling regime sucks =) But still Tsar Nikolai was nicer :P take care man =)
JohanOlsson 3 months ago
@JohanOlsson This is why people who believe in polemics should never be trusted with history.
WHO says anyone had a "world record" or what the figure was? I'm sick of having to bat away stupid, unsubstantiated allegations like this with real history when people like you do no reading and expect to be able to "win" the game with silly comments like that.
Good luck with your projects.

@JohanOlsson "Romonovs army never killed anyone"
Can you quote any evidence of this claim? I am frankly incredulous that anyone could believe it. Have you never heard of the army opening fire on peaceful protesters in 1905? How do you think that revolution started?
January 9th 1905. Look it up. Anyway, it was not an isolated incident. The Tsar's army opened fire on strikers and even other soldiers off at the war (Lake Naroch, I think).
Camerameister1 3 months ago
@JohanOlsson "this is how it goes when people believing in lies"
What lies?
People believed in ideals and for 6 months it looked like it might work. See, this is the trouble when you believe in polemics: you can be tricked into believing anything. Nobody doubts the Red Terror or Cheka oppression. Trouble is, nobody seems to have heard of the White Terror or the pogroms against the Jews.

If this trend continues, things will unfold in an ugly fashion for Wall Street and the megacorporations.
echatterwa 4 months ago
@echatterwa Don't believe everything you ingest. Your socialism is what's collapsing everything. 1 by 1 postwar Europe became socialist economies, Latin America, Israel..you name it. Now, 40-50 yrs. later, those countries that were unproductive/slothful see Italy,Greece,Spain, etc. are crying for bailouts. This is the end result of socialism. Here in US these bailouts are attempts TO nationalize industry. Laugh it up while you destroy yourself and blame me for it imbecile.
chickenwretch 4 months ago 2
@chickenwretch European countries are unproductive as a whole? Northern Europe has some of the world's most productive countries (including many that are more productive than the United States) while having some of the largest social welfare systems in the world.
echatterwa 4 months ago

Yes Calif's. economy is huge and its inevitable collapse will begin Federal bailouts of states, which is what this is all about anyway; the hysterical desire for centralized power and the dimunition of state hegemony.
chickenwretch 4 months ago
@chickenwretch "I believe it was the socialist impulse to grant mortgages to unqualified wage/no wage earners that toppled markets"
Was it really "socialist" though? The greed bubble you refer to tends to nullify that argument because the financial institutions were only too happy to get further into the housing market in the belief that they could not lose.
Camerameister1 4 months ago
@Camerameister1 I don't think they thought they could have lost. You see, I'm more cynical than your not accreditng me. The whole stunt was a huge shuffling about of money; who profitted at the end of all this? banks, coming and going. And probably many other players.

@chickenwretch Yes but Germany itself is in pretty good economic shape, isn't it?
And California's economy is still much bigger than Texas's economy. It is true that Texas survived the recession much better than California. The irony here is that the reason why Texas fared so well through the recession is because of socialist regulation (dating from the 19th century) of its housing market, which saved them from the housing crisis that devastated California.
echatterwa 4 months ago
@chickenwretch As for nationalization, I WISH the bailouts had been used to nationalize the financial sector. If we had done that, we could have actually made them stop foreclosures and jumpstart lending to small businesses so that these businesses could create jobs. As it turned out, the banks just received a free bailout and sat on the money, continuing foreclosures at a steady rate and refusing to lend to small businesses.
echatterwa 4 months ago
@chickenwretch And Latin America became socialist after World War II? In what universe? Until a decade ago, Latin America was dominated by hard-core capitalist policies that did nothing to improve the lives of ordinary people there. Why do you think the people in Latin America have become so left-wing? It's because they realize that unfettered capitalism only works for the superwealthy.
echatterwa 4 months ago
@echatterwa Wrong again: all major holdings were controlled by an oligarchy that nationalized said holdings. Crony capitalism akin to Obamas Wall St.-GM-Green industry bailouts. Call it Right call it Left, its money and power CENTRALIZED in the hands of a few, the opposite of a constitutional Republic working from a free market model. What Americas become is something it never was; socialist. We are in the midst of hoisting that socialist flag thus, the bickering.
chickenwretch 4 months ago
@chickenwretch The Wall Street firms were NEVER nationalized.
echatterwa 4 months ago
@echatterwa A bribe of this magnitude doesn't need to be called "nationalized," it was big filthy money split up between Wall St. and politicians of both stripes. Where did the money to reimburse these TARP scandals come from? us, the American taxpayer.

@chickenwretch What would you say about the decision to bail out AIG? Remember where America's pensions were...
Camerameister1 4 months ago
@Camerameister1 Honestly I don't know enough about the AIG bailout so am not qualified to opine. What do you think, fill me in?
chickenwretch 4 months ago
@chickenwretch Well, as I understand it, it was all part of the credit default swap scam which was rife in Wall St. Basically, companies would use AIG's AAA rating to invest in other projects, leaving AIG in credit to people who could not pay. That's something pension funds should not be subject to.
Camerameister1 4 months ago
@Camerameister1 Hmmm, sounds alot like the way our Social Securuty Administration conducts matters. Any comparison?

Camerameister1 4 months ago
@chickenwretch No it doesn't sound similar to Social Security. Social Security has never missed a payment and is projected to remain solvent for decades to come. There really is no comparison between that and the private pension funds that were devastated by Wall Street gambling.
echatterwa 4 months ago
@chickenwretch I agree with you on crony capitalism. Crony capitalism, however, is NOT socialism.
echatterwa 4 months ago
@echatterwa You're right, crony capitalism isn't socialism, its worse. We the small ones, derived nothing from this activity. At least under socialism there would argueably be a levelling and portioning out of funds. No, we all lost on this one; that's why I can't understand anyone approving a 2nd or 3rd etc.bailout. But it is a strong way to collapse a corruptly operating system.

Give me a practical historical model of Libertarian Communism that lasted, and became nationalized. I can't strain a venture. Thus, aptly...theory.
chickenwretch 4 months ago 2
@chickenwretch Again, I quote my example of the Spanish Civil War. They probably would have survived had they not been overrun. ALL revolutionary philosophies, if not volunteered, have to be enforced. But you need to look at the countries where it happened to see why. There are always pre-existing conditions for revolution.
My point is that this sort of thing is not confined to communism. It applies to all revolutionary philosophies. You can assume the same for their implementation.

Communism is a great idea.
It's just people like Stalin and Moa - men who are unwilling to give up power once they have it - who screw everthing up.
Also, puplic service. Who pays for and organises police and medical care and transport and so on if there is no government or taxes - that's the only thing I can't get my head around.
jeramahia123 6 months ago 2
@jeramahia123 Communism was prostituted by people like Stalin and Mao. Communism revolves around the idea of self governing communes or soviets. The functions of central government in the ideal of communism are extremely limited. However, it was easy for a man like Stalin to exploit the system and turn it into a totalitarian state.
This is the difference between ideology and practice. As Professor Kevin Passmore says "Utopianism always leads to terror".
Camerameister 5 months ago
@jeramahia123 from what i understand, only in the final stage of communism is it no longer necessary for government, in the beginning, the government imposes very high taxes from every citizen to support every citizen and it is from this pool that public service is provided for. The idea is that goverment and even money will slowly wither away until the people are experts at governing, and providing for themselves.

The first Russian Revolution wasn't Marxist but had many democrats in the govt. But the Bolsheviks won the Civil War & took power over all Russia.

DrCruel 9 months ago
@DrCruel Mate learn the definition of socialism before you try to slander it, it's not about rich people lording over everyone while they work and it doesn't state that everything you make belongs to everyone, it's supposed to be the opposite of that, you own what you produce, power to the workers, there has never been a country that has used a complete socialist system sure there has been those that have built some degree of socialism but never complete socialism.
lavery869 9 months ago 3
@DrCruel And just because facists and dictators have claimed to be socialist/communist doesn't make it so, both communism and socialism have gained a bad reputation due to dickheads commiting atrocities in it's name. Look up the actual definition of communism, a stateless classless society which uses workers concils and there is common ownership of the means of production, now has there ever been a country like that? These so called communist countries are all state controlled.
lavery869 9 months ago 4
@lavery869 Just because socialists claim that other socialists aren't "really" socialists doesn't make them any less so. In the 1970s, Bolshevik socialism was all the rage amongst Western Leftists. Only after their fall did these same Leftists "suddenly realize" that the USSR had been a state capitalist regime all along ...
Christians still catch abuse for the Inquisition. I think socialists ought to address their own dirty laundry too, rather than try to pawn it off as someone else's.
