Check the original (1964) version if you can find it. It was the UK Northern Soul scene where these old, obscure numbers were played that created the demand for the re-release, which made it a hit in '71.
I 1st heard a snippet of this song on that episode of the "Tiny & Toya " show where Tiny and her dad were singing it at the Spa. That was a very touching moment; awesome song and voices.
The guy in the middle was probably Horace Key, one of the original Tams. (Obviously, he's not having a good night here). He died some years ago I think. I'm not sure, but I think Al Cottle was the guy between Joe Pope (the lead singer) and Horace Key. Robert Smith, who used to sing bass, was to Horace's left. I think Al Cottle was the only one of that group who was not an original. He replaced Floyd Ashton. I guess Al Cottle is the father of current lead singer, Lillle Red, but I'm not sure.
I remember seeing this what is the deal with the guy in the background in the middle??..he hasn't got a clue & then he vanishes from the band halfway thru the set.
BRILLIANT XXXX

The singer's voice reminds me so much of Sam Cook. Good group.

Khultan,.. this group is not from England. They are alive and kicking in the east coast of the USA. Just saw them recently. Class act all the way.

Tool announcer goes: 'Check out the outfits' Early 70s England is a gallery of goofy looking bands.

@RK807 It is my understanding that Charles brother to Joe is Lil Redds father and Tiny is his sister
