  • What are the OXO cubes for?

  • why is there coffee in the bags? only drys you out! if i wold take a hot drink for a morel boost i would take tea:)

  • Ill probaly put this tation in the bag i use when i forget my keys and have to camp on my doorstep.

  • @coverchenko dextrose are glucose tables and oxo cubes are dehydrated stock

  • are you rockin the DPM Para smock? nice.its all about DPM.nothing else will do!

  • i thought "Rations" meant a mix of any food you want, chocolate + biscuits + beef + chicken + anything, then putting everything in a blinder, than serve it to the soldiers

i was saying to myself, (why they don't get a diarrhea from eating this?)

    xDDDD

  • @wall2rockclimber

i would recomend an MRE really good and easy to make

  • How long are these intended to last 1 man each?

Cuz by the looks of it, between the two of them i'd have them both in half a day.

  • @Marktheshtfgenius id have one of them for lunch !

  • hey how do u get these ration packs cause i could really use some..

  • pencil no sharpner. whats wrong with a argos pen same size

  • not much on the savory side

  • hahaha the british loves their tea!

  • I prefer Actionmans kit better than these BCB products, bet he didn't pay half as much, and will be full after his meal rather than just sustained, neither of these two products are worth a place either in my belt order or bergen. 2x FAIL.

  • the first 1 wood last for 5 fats if you share it out proply

  • The red ration pack was in the movie Blood Diamond.

  • Where's the food???

  • You can buy the second emergency ration pack at a place on ebay called The Bushcraft Store I think is costs $15.

  • I would think there would be more salt packs in an emergency considering theres so much more you can do with salt than sugar.

  • sound like he just put a bunch of long shelf life food together in a creative way..

  • Mike does stuart still sell these rations on ebay tried looking for him using world of survival but no luck, any help is appreciated thanks love the vids big fan!!!!

  • @ascorpio09

Hi, i did just search for you but came up empty handed, i dont think anyone is selling them anymore.

Did send you a PM though!!

  • @wall2rockclimber zeroneairsoft sells them

  • wtf tea you need emergensy food not tea

  • love it

  • What would be the comparison to US MRE?

  • @Hoffa3381 MRE's Contain actual food, This is more like candy XD

  • so much better than US emergency military rations

  • What is an "Oxycube"?

  • @wardenphil Bouillon cubes,soup stock,chicken/beef flavor cubes.

  • hey mate great vid; where did you get the Military version from I have never seen those for sale. A link would be much appreciated if you have it at hand, cheers

  • @rollerpodger hi there, you can contact Stuart @ world of survival on Ebay he can get them for you, just tell him i sent you or you see my video on them.

    hope this helps

    mike

  • @wall2rockclimber

great video everyone should store or have atleast a 3 day emergency pack

  • oh no im gonna die!!! oh wait ill just have a coffe:P

  • For £8 dont bother, theres far better options out there, besides the fact you can reproduce this pack for as little as £4.

  • Are these like rations in like the "Metal Gear Solid" game?

  • i like the second one more but is it much heaver

  • good..that answers the question that i had about your "10 survival items" post. where's the food?.i've been beating around the woods since the 60's and have US Army service and i know you will be hungry long before you need a big knife.

  • What's the name of the music you use in this video and others?

  • @fdsman hi there, this music was made using the old playstation game by a friend, it was made many years ago but he allowed me the use of it.

  • @wall2rockclimber so, could I get the name of the game?

  • @fdsman

if you contact Actionman via his channel and if he wishes to release the info then you can have it.

    mike

  • Good thing you said don't hold me to that on the energy bar, you can get Millennium Energy Bars anywhere.

  • how quickley will the fuel tablets boil water

and approx how long do they last

    all the best the octoman34

  • @TheOctoman34 hi mate they last around 10mins if enclosed, but if you let too much wind then the time is reduced, they boil up water just as good as heximene

  • @wall2rockclimber why dont they use the fuel tabs in the standard rat-packs instead of heximene blocks? those things are a bitch to light

  • where's the bacon????? ^_^

  • that looks like, idk, a lot more luxurious, if the word, then other ration packs i've seen.

and my history teacher(in marines for 25 years) is bringing ration packs for us to sample.haha hes like if you can get past the look and smell you might survive

  • Do you have an online store on your website. Have looked but can't see it if you have.

  • Some of these comments are from people who have never served in the forces. These people should take advice from people like yourself mike and stop criticising your reviews. I have served in the forces and agree with your advice. Keep up the good work mate.

  • thanks mate,

as you know i would jump at this kit if it was available when your breathing out of your arse lol!

something people dont appreciate in civvi world

  • That was an interesting set of things in those two rations packs. Looks a bit...eh. I mean it would definetly be good for hiking and stuff. And I must say that it would probably be good to give a soldier energy to keep going.

  • thats what they are for, soldiers.

they were put together for them by them.

  • I plan on going into the armed forced when I turn 18. When I get back I may order a few of these and do a review myself.

By the way, what is an "Oxo" cube? Sorry if I spelled it wrong.

  • hi mate, good luck to you chap.

the oxo is a beef stock cube used to make a drink with.

  • Sounds good to me. lulz

  • LOL at sproose. I believe these are mainly for giving you energy to keep moving on. Not to make you all full and happy.

  • they look like junk to be honest,

i mean all you have to do is carry a snickers and some brew kit and you have basically the same thing,

i do like the takeaway tin idea though , so i will knick that for my kit

  • good luck with that combo on the hill, in a emergency situation you need fuel and warm drinks to calm your mind, but hey your the expert!

  • hahaha i dont claim to be an expert by anymeans,

but come on , a brew kit and some candy bars doesnt constitute emergency retions, id rather take one meal and a hot chocolate,

lets face it , you are never going to only have the contents of that baggie, if you can make sure you end up with that in a bad situation, you c make sure you end up with a canteen and cup and the baggie

  • not saying you are mate, just realise these are tried and tested rations used by special forces world wide, the company that makes them employ ex forces to put them together.

  • yeh i apreciate that they are made by people who probly know a lot more than me,

but i cant see that being any good for more than an afternoon hike, (personally)

the civi one looks well thought out, but still a choccy bar and a few brews doesnt constitute emergency rations for me ,

but a nice review of the product none the less,

  • yep thats the difference between soldiers and civvis, and i would hope that it would only be for the afternoon, the forces are generally good at search and rescue.

    great debate!!

  • beans?

  • What, the infantry one is all simple carbs?

  • what are you getting at?? yes of course thats what keeps a soldier going in battle.

they are tried and tested by me and other soldiers and special forces for many years

  • Forgive me but I was under the impression that complex carbs fueled the body longer without the junk-food crash afterward. That stuff seemed like it was straight out of a cheapo breakfast cereal box. I guess I'd eat it if there were no more termites or grasshoppers around.

  • different country's folk opinions, no worries though the stuff works, i use it when i did all my tours of duty and also now when i do treks.

and we have none of them insects on the mountain or in the woods.

  • keep up the good work man !

    =)

  • i love kendal mint cake, when i was on a exercise the rest of the boys in my section didnt like it was more for me :)

  • I bought the BCB Emergency Ration pack, which has a very long shelf life so it's well worth the money. I found it to be an Ideal addition to my survival kit, I carry it in my Viper assault vest which I use to carry my kit for 1-2 day outings.

  • make your own, based on the video but with the tastes you prefer. Simple.

  • Urbanwild - we are sorry you were not happy with your Ration Pack - your item could have been exchanged or refunded. Send me your invoice number and I will get you a refund or a credit.

  • I compared Best Glide A.S.E.'s Emergency Ration Pack with BCB's Ration Pack and found the US version to be superior in more than the food products. The Mainstay 1200 calorie bar is just that - a "mainstay"...and there was a strange but very tasty thing called a "Peanut Patty" that is high in calories and carbs. Two of the items which make the US version superior are the emergency knIfe and Fresnel Fire Starting lens. The BCB version I tested had the nastiest mint cake and tasteless hard candy.

  • Just FYI--I ordered the civilian version from Best Glide (the US version of BCB) and the food items were crap--wouldn't eat them if I was starving! The items were totally different from what they put in the British version. Even the aluminum tray was a small loaf pan that I could buy at the market. I don't think the US version is worth the money. Watch this video, then put up your own version with better quality (and tasting) ingredients! You can buy the empty sealable pouches from BCB, too.

  • good review.

  • what are millennium bars like? chewy or hard? tasty?

  • not to sure mate, it is a hard bar.

i use this for an emergency food, leaving it at the bottom of my bag/pouch, for when hunger really kicks in.

    mike

  • they are nasty! there usually in the mre's i had a tiny bit and almost threw up!! stick with the brtish army yorkies

  • kinda stiff, like your biting into a semi hard block of cheese.

  • Nice review. Where can I find these, how much would they cost?

  • hi there you can find them at "world of survival" on ebay as they have the best prices i have found and best of all the service is great!!

  • Hey thanks! I did manage to find these on ebay! They really are a good emergency supply to have!

  • Diabeties in a bag - cool...

  • These are lightweight, fairly compact, little or no preparation needed with quick energy and alertness/endurance aids (caffeine).

My opinion is that they are for evasion, escape, if you can't make it back to base camp in time due to delay, reinforcements haven't arrived etc. & your supplies are exhausted. Emergencies.

  • what the hell are oxo cubes?

  • they are a gravy type drink, you make you stock with them,

    mike

  • would it be a case of google 'bcb ration packs' to look further into them? and do you think they are worth it overall?

  • I'm in the U.S. but have great respect for BCB (and might actually own a product or two from them).

There's more thought put into those than meets the eye, I think. They are not 100% food so that you will ingest water (IMPORTANT) to get the calories out of a beverage. They have salt (essential to life). They have caffeine (to keep you alert for battle, security watches, and escape).

You can almost replicate, but it will probably cost more unless you build lots & sell them to friends.

  • If you are given one to carry then fine, if you pay the asking price then your an idiot, very expensive for what they are

Katanaburner, try the Brit rat packs, much better than the MRE packs.

  • guy stop comparing, they are all fucking awful to eat

  • thats right mate, never been any god to eat, its only sweets, chocolate, and sugar bars. oh ye and some brew!

  • Guys guys guys! He wasn't comparing it to our MREs. He said that this was for emergencies and that it fits in a pouch. He mentioned something about ration packs on a side note. I think if you're in a real jam and you lose your rations and this is all you have, well at least it's light enough to carry around you. Personally I think that our own MREs might be too big for our military to carry them. I do love the separate condiment packages of our MREs though. Quite useful. Need more tobasco though

  • The British Rations look cheap to me. Even the issued one. MREs, Meals, Ready to Eat, Look alot better.

  • i agree

  • you cannot compare the USMC MREs or even UK MREs (original military) to this crap. In most of content its just a sugar. And sugar is not enought

  • its not being compared to ration packs, its for emergencies and sugar gets you moving and thinking

    mike

  • Indeed Mike, but its a very short time solution (less than 24h) for sustaining (IMO) battle-ready infantry.

  • Actually I would think that plenty of carbohydrates will do you just fine for a while. I'm sure the best soldiers can fight for at least 2 days without food anyway.

  • Actually - f you were to compare it to earlier lifeboat rations....

  • Good review Mike. I will have to order a couple of those for emergencies in my bug out bag.

  • mike

those bags look foil coated fo if you put water in them could you put them in the fire and boil water in them.

  • hello mate,

yes, you could do it but not over the open flame, do it in the hot coals and it would work.

    mike

  • where in UK is this park you go bushcrafting? I am in London and cant find any place like this to go,

  • Im from suffolk and we have some nice places up here.. Any one feel like a meet?

  • this is a good idea for the new kit i'm making

    thanks mike

  • Good Video Mike.

Both of those ration packs will be a fine addition to any kit.

  • thank you they would be very good to be left at the bottom of a bag or for those that wear plce webbing

  • Nice. Gotta try these. Cool re-sealable bags aswell.

What is the weight of these two packs?

  • ye they will hold about 1 pint easily, the emergency ration pack(the red label) weighs 220g and the emergency belt order (green label) weighs around 200g

  • nicly done mate

  • thank you

  • nice vid!

you really are a big BCB fan?

  • they pay him. hehehe.

  • truely? (was that spelled right?)

his vids are still very good and informative so i don´t care :-)

  • ha ha, ye i wish, no guys they do not in anyway pay me or influence me, my reviews are my views only.

    mike

    stoneage bushcraft

  • Im a big fan of theirs aswell. I have one of the BCB survival tins. Had it for years and take it everywhere. They have really cool gear.

  • yes there survival gear is favoured around the world, their survival kits are also added to aircrews ejector seats and others carried by infantryman and forces alike

  • thank you, yes i do like there kit. i used alot of it when i was in the forces, they are at the cutting edge of technology, supplying the special forces and armed forces
