So this one is the Plain Flip Ultra not the HD if I`m not mistaken? So would the Ultra HD would be better than the ordinary FLip Ultra? What I`ve seen so far on youtube is that the Mino HD is the best camcorder for indoors and the Ultra HD is the best for outdoos.

A really good question. I didn't know the answer, so I got the camera out and tested it. It is fixed focus and works fine from about 8 inches away from an object. Anything closer than that is out of focus. Keep in mind that the camera here is the first generation flip ultra with 60-mins of recording time. There are newer models available that might have macro capability.
Wow man that video looks really good! I have been looking everywhere for a camcorder to use for my kayak and boating trips. Currently I am using a miniDVD corder and its too much of a hassal to convert the videos just to edit in movie maker then finally post on youtube. Tired of fooling around with the miniDVDs too. Glad I seen your vid of scenery, I am getting one of these tomorrow. I was wondering how well it would work with scenery and this vid answers my question.
Hi, thank you for the questions. The short answer on both is no. It records in VGA quality with a 4:3 ratio and it can't take still pictures. The Flip MinoHD (see another comment below) will record in widescreen but I have not tried it out.
I guess this camera isn't for me then! I'm now looking at buying a Sony Cybershot W220, I'm waiting to hear from Sony whether or not it can zoom during video capture> Thanks for your help!
Hi, thanks for watching and the nice comment. As for the price, I see the Ultra is on Amazon for about $115. The MinoHD is about $191. Reviews and comments I've read say there isn't that much difference between Ultra and Mino picture quality. For the price, I think the Ultra is a great deal.
An excellent question. With a full, fresh charge, I have found it good enough to last for 60+ minutes, which will accomodate the maximum file size. The battery, as all batteries will, loses capacity over time if it is not used, so I've found it important to do a fresh charge before an important video session. Thank you for the question.
Nice review. Check out thesmartpod channel for a unique video mount accessory that attaches anywhere and can hold any position. Perfect for people who vlog on the go. Also, would you consider doing a product demo? PLEASE CHECK OUT THE SMART POD AND THE DEMOS. THANKS.

are the camcorders durable?
i saw one at the store and it went for about 180.00
but there was a digital camera for 140 10mp and everything.
i dont know which would be better to get.

Thanks for the question. Yes, the camcorder is durable. As for which choice to make ... why not try both and keep the one you like?

Whenever I put flip video ultra videos on youtube, It won't let me watch it in high quality. why's that?
darkmatter83 3 years ago
because it IS high quality
cream171 3 years ago
Good, cause I just bought a HDTV and this camera would fill the screen perfectly without any loss of resolution. Thanks for the response...

Do the flip camera have a widescreeen feature?
tresensei85 3 years ago
Hi, There is no specific control for widescreen, but when viewing the videos they look really good on a widescreen display, so maybe it is built in.
