I recognise the Superchannel intro. That's where I last watched this serial when SKY TV was just a single channel, somewhere around 1989. Jan Francis mmm.
I think this was written by N J Crisp who later penned Secret Army. Significantly it starred Jan Francis and it also featured Hilary Minster as the pale-faced motorcyclist. He later appeared in Secret Army and also in its parody Allo Allo. Another significant point was that it featured a gunman called Kessler, a name later associated with Secret Army. Although this was shown on what is nowadays called CBBC it was really more for young adults.
FYI Simon Turner who starred in it, is now Simon Fisher Turner, a very well respected left field composer. I too recall this from childhood, i am going to Grassington tomorrow, which is what jogged my memory of it....
Wow! Never mind the quality which isn't that bad at all. This is the first time I have heard this for nearly 35 years and hearing it now brings it all back. What I would give to see this superb series again on TV or on DVD; it is my No.1 most 'want to see' series from the archive ! Where did this theme music come from? Thank you so much for posting.
i remember the filming of this in Tobermory (now famous as Balamory) one of the best summers of my teenage years. Wonder what happened to Simon & Christopher who stared in it.

The theme music I think was by Geoge Fenton who also did many other themes including Bergerac.

Yes indeed; and Shoestring. All quite similar sounding pieces of music.
