Cool. I was wondering why it derailed. A pure case of "String lining" at the curve when the cars derail being that they are lightweight models.

How tight is that radius? Some walthers cars aren't able to go through a radius tighter than a 24 radius. That may have caused the derailment. If that isn't it, than it may have been the switch that caused it. Great video. :)

The radius is 33 1/2". There was a broken and missing guard rail that has since been replaced. Thanks for your willingness to help.

Like I dont know how it happened but I see there is a little small lumpish lol but i thing the passenger car was too long and the bottom of it hit the top of the small bumpish and shook it and derailed...Im so confused.

When a car derails on a curve and pulls several others over with it, it IS called a "stringline".

Been there dozens of times (especially since i have 22" radius curves and like to run long trains), and yes quite often i let the 3 and 4 letter words fly because it's a pain to rerail everything (especially a trailer or doublestack train). Better get the switch fixed before a freight hauling hazardous materials derails on it :O :)

The track looks good. The grass looks like it came out of a Tyco train set. $1,000 if you shop in a full price retail hobby store. Ebay is the way to go.

The cars are Rivarossi and correctly weighted. The switch was bad and caused the derailment - it has been repaired.

This was the graduation party for the Amtrak engineers class from the Puppy Mill training center for engineers at Wilmington known as Choo Choo U. Also in this class was the engineer that was going 25mph over the limit on Amtrak near Chicago a couple weeks ago.

Stringlining, don't you hate it? ;) You can fix that by weighting down the cars a bit.

Thanks, the cars are weighted. A facing point curved turnout was recently replaced there & the track alignment was not done correctly.
