See? This is good! What ever happened to instrumental music? Are people too impatient these days to hear music with no lyrics...suggesting what they're to think about while listening to the song? Every album used to have one instrumental track in those days. I miss the kind of music where musicians got the chance to showcase the best of their craft.
i've been looking for this particular masterpiece for more than 3 decades, after my 45 r.p.m vinyl became unplayable-due to over play... what else can i say ? thanks to U-tube for bringing back to memory one of the best pieces that can only be be put together by the god father himself.
Hey, it looks like I can't link videos within a comment but, yeah, Digable Planets sampled 3:15-3:48 along with many others but Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson) owns that break now.
Search "Squarepusher A Journey To Reedham (7am Mix)" and get your mind blown.
Fantastic! A band I was in played this song back in '69-'70. I was only 14 years old at the time and was by far the youngest member in the professionally gigging band. I played tenor sax in the horn section: 4 reeds, (1 alto, 2 tenors, 1 baritone) and 4 brass, (3 trumpets, 1 trombone). The rhythm section was 2 guitars (lead & rhythm), 1 bass, 2 drummers and a B3 organ. The whole band was fronted by a single lead singer. Needless to say our whole show was influenced by James Brown.
