Listen i've been dealing with Amana/Goodman for the past 15 years and just like Carrier , Trane or Bryant PARTS fail i don't care what ya say . So what if Amana Dosent make the gasket anymore use RTV High temp Silicone . Note to self if that Heat exchanger goes LIFETIME replacement to thye orginal homeowner !
I like the idea a few others have suggested, make a damn gasket. I would'nt want you working on anything for me if you just give up because the factory part isn't made anymore. Sounds to me like you're more interested in selling a new furnace to someone than fixing the one they have. Sure is easy to spend someone else's money.
i will not ever buy a goodman or amana furnace, am thinking of not buying that noisy comfortmaker those furnaces are no good. i install 15 comfortmakers back in july to august and they all had a motor bearing noise
I had the same problem but the seals are available! Any part for this is available! When I replaced the gasket only to find out the unit still leaked but the heat exchanger was cracked. The part was $40.00. The furnace is noisy but its in the basement so we don't notice it! Parts available in Des Moines, Iowa
I install and service Amana furnaces and haven't seen this problem myself. I have seen the drain hoses set like this cause a problem with the pressure switch because the water pools in the bottom. The biggest problem I see with Amana are the pressure switches and the ventor motors failing. As for gaskets, if they aren't available, I use high temperature sealant. Better than nothing.
Had the drain been installed properly at the install, this wouldn't be an issue. The long drain tube running left to right (under the inducer) is sagging and causing a trap. That hose should have been cut and installed on the same side as the drain. I'm always amazed when people post shit like this and bash a specific brand when it actually falls on installer error. I have been using Amana equipment for quite a while and it's as good as anything out there.
hey i been doing service for about 18 years....you can do this 2 ways...you can either use a high temp sealer which is basically like caulk....or you can get a gasket material at any auto parts place and template it yourself....me personally i would replace the heater cause amana is basically bottom of the barrel equipment...
I wondering if you could just put a high temp silicon as a gasket around the induce fan motor, unless its leaking around the second heat exchanger or underneath the metal plate
Amana use to make a good unit with there HTM's and other hi eff heaters and air cond. but parts are always hard to find after a few years, and now that they are under the Goodman Co. I don't know. I don't care for them my self.
The control board went bad because the collector box has been leaking water for some time I can tel by the rust inside there. You can still get those sill because I replaced on last winter for a friend of mines! Goodman Amana furnace are some of the best on the market if they are maintained right. I have rentals with goodmans and one amana and never had major problems with them. All manufacturers have that same problem with 90%. If you can't find the seal use gasket maker prom the auto parts
I have been servicing every brand on the market for the last 20 years. I did speak to Amana they dont have the gaskets for that shitty furnace. So the customer is shit out of luck. Buy a better brand of furnace or they need to be told to build a better product.
I have been doing the same 20 years. I my own company and have been selling Amana for the last 11 years. A regularly scheduled maintenance program on the SHITTY furnace would have shown this very early and would not have been an issue. That is a GUCA0703BX, give me the serial number and I will get you the part. Maybe they are shit out of luck for not calling the right person.
@jasonfieldingreilly I have the exact same furnace and problem with the leaky gasket jason, do you have the part number available. I just got off the phone with the Dey parts dealer in mn and they don't have a replacement part and they said amana doesn't either. If no part is available would you agree that a high temp rtf silicone would work?
brianadams1000: I have the exact same furnace and problem with the gasket that I just noticed yesterday and the parts dealer here said the same thing that amana doesnt have an available replacement part and the parts guy said they suggested that a high temp silicone like what you would get at a auto parts store would be there suggestion unofficialy.
Looks like the secondary coil might be leaking....look from below...Amana will give you brand new furnace....lifetime unit replacement.
