lol he totally knows what hes doing... look at the ipm hes taking ( thousands per rev) at that rpm with out any coolant.... the rapid programming... pretty sweet if you ask me
Hehe. Depends what you aims for. I made this one with new leadscrews, bearings, bearingsblocks etc., spindle controled by gcode, full enclosure and flood cooling and much more. BTW i sold it and is making ready to build a new one from ground up. More videos to come...
what did you use to read the spindle speed?

Nice job on that - CNC seems the way to go to get a nice looking radius.

By the way, Good Job.

Actually its stainless, you can see the small chips curls up if you look carefully

cutting stainless like that.. impressive or is video speed up?
atleastitsnotcrack 2 years ago
Its speed up, i think i even wrote it in the info:-)
Guldbergdk 2 years ago
I would say its probably 17-4 stainless, which machines very nicely.

Wow that was a while ago, I still remember it well though. I didn't read the info correctly and still feel stupid for it now.
I unfortunately am a novice when it comes to machining even though I brought my first lathe - C2 300mm - 4 months ago.

Know I see it.
You could even say that I have to listen how turning this material sounds.
Because brass sounds very different than Stainless.

I use a machine that's slightly bigger than whatever you work on.

Nice job. im in the process of soldering together a stepper motor driver, hopefully it will work. But great job!

Great.
I just bought a unimat baby lathe and can't see it being to difficult to retro fit?
Must be only two steppers and a simple controller?

Machine tools are great. I always wanted a job working on one of those multiaxis mills machining engine turbines.
