At my school we had 3 cheers for the tryouts and then we did our jumps XD Practice/camp today was pretty hard because we had a long routine that we did countless times XP but I can't wait to do the stunts in it instead of just marking!

isn't it crazy how many times you do the same thing over and over??! but learning by marking helps you remember the moves correctly and then it's not so hard when you put it together cause then you can concentrate on your jumps. But it's awesome when you get to put it all together with everything, specially stunts!!! good luck and have a great time!!

yeh its weird...at my college in england they tried 2 start a cheerleading squad and like 2,000 out 2,500 signed a petition saying no...i guess it's jsut so americanised

I'm surprised because they have teams from many different countries that compete at Cheerleading Worlds. It is expensive and most schools don't support it any more. Parents and students cover most of the cost, unlike football and other sports teams.

the biggest problem is that people in england think cheerleaders are just flirts in skirts who twirl batons and pompons lol. But being a competitive uni and allstar cheerleader in the UK, i understand why. If you or anyone at your college do want to cheer you could always look up allstar teams in your area x

of course not .. it's the first day of tryout practice and they are watching the video for the first time... at the end of the day, they put it together. that's what cheer tryouts are about - those that can do it make the team, those that can't, don't!!

lots of girls make it without any experience if you just have a positive attitude and act like you really enjoy yourself! Not sure of your jumps but you can always practice basic ones. The biggest thing is confidence, try to keep your arm motions tight, no "spaghetti arms" and seriously, smile!! If you make a mistake, keep going and don't act all scared or obvious, keep going! Everyone is nervous, but keep it hidden as much as possible til it's over!! Good luck!

this is our high school and it just opened this year so there's only freshmen, sophomores and juniors, no seniors. I guess age range would be 15-17

it happens with the new schools in the first year. the juniors are always the oldest but you're the first year to graduate. it's really kind of weird. and the sports teams always play older teams so sometimes it's hard to win

over 90 girls tried out for 28-30 spots. some girls counted out before trying moves, mostly girls with prior dance and/or cheer experience. some just had a hard time getting fast moves in a short time to learn. Part of making a team is being able to learn quickly sicne there isn't lots of practice time.

tryouts are for Frontier High School. Varsity, JV and Frosh/Soph are all together and picked from this group after tryouts according to ability.

they give tryouts all over the country and can only send 4-5 people to each cheer camp where there may be over 150 girls. The girls learn from the video as a group & then work with the NCA coaches in smaller groups to improve.
