Pixar does this with pretty much every movie. Mr. Ray in Finding Nemo was played by one of their story editors, for example. I really think that they pay much more attention to actual voice quality than to star quality.

I love how Pixar wrestles its employees to do some of the voices in their films, big or small. It gives the film a kind of indie appeal.

Not to mention, Brad Bird's E = awesome.
