  • This was one I remembered so much. I am still looking for the EGG BEATERS who did rascals Good Loving.

  • if there's anything bad about the 80s I've yet to discover it.

  • This guy works in our office, but has never revealed that he is 3-D... He told us he worked for a drop forging firm in Willenhall....

  • this is so good it's slightly unreal!

  • Wow, just wow! Thats just stupidly impressive on every level!

  • awesome video!

  • The show was called Puttin On The Hits and it was one of my favorites back in the day, i was just a little kid back then but we would stay up late and watch it and dream about going on the show to be a contestant.

  • Freakin awesome.....

  • 3-D did a fantastic job.

  • DUDE ,LOOK LIKE RAY LIOTTA FROM THE MOVIE GOODFELLA LOL!!!

  • As I can see it: he made it perfect! What's his name? Douglas ... ? What happened to him after this show, does anybody know?

  • There's going to be a modern version of this show starting around the end of Nov. 2011. Should be great!

  • that was pretty cool...looks like my old GI JOE talking

  • I thought the best performance I ever saw was the guy who did "Say Say Say" by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. You could only see the side of his face when he began singing McCartney's lines, then when it switched to MJ's lines, he turns his head and it's in BLACKFACE!

This show was great because it didn't matter if you could sing or not.

  • i remember seeing this when it was on TV when i was little. last night i was watching "we were soldiers" and this morning i woke up with this stirring performance on my mind. i'm so glad it's here on youtube!

  • Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was a Fan of this show and even was a $25,000 Grand Finalist (Screamin' Jay Hawkins - I Put A Spell On You). This is one of The Greatest Acts to EVER appear on POTH. Just FANTASTIC!

  • Its amazing how many people reference this performance when talking about P.O.T.H, it was such a stand out performance and likly the best of the entire series.

  • guy reminds me of talking heads once lifetime

  • 懐かしい曲だにゃ〜。

  • I am 36 years old and I remember this performance like it was yesterday. It was simplistic and the lip sync and robotic movements were tight. His performance was haunting in that he looked like a dead soldier. Even at a young age (10) I got chills thinking about the words to this song. Epic!

  • Best I have ever seen. When was this show on.

  • @bobtis 1984-88

  • this guy is good

  • only 19 smh

  • pray for the tweens

  • Oh my god, I thought it was a mannequin for the first few seconds, but it's a guy! He's really damn good here!

  • fucking crazy... my dad told me to lison to this song..... im joing the marins nexst mont... as volenter... fuck... .... the average living time for a vietnam private was 20 minutes....

  • 9 People Cant Bust a Move

  • wow lol

  • 9 people don't have a sense of culture

  • Courtney, Me. You. This song. Talent Show.

  • this is super creepy, i love it....

  • At first I thought you were a real robot. The act was that convincing. Very good work Doug. By the way what are you doing nowadays? Do you still dance?

  • This is brilliant, fantastic, awesome artistic creativity. I did not see this until 2010.

It must have been brilliant in the 1980's and it still is today. As soon as I saw this performance I knew you had won the competition, Doug. Ihope you spent you prize money wisely. $25,000.00 WAS A LOT OF MONEY IN THE 1980'S. IT STILL IS TODAY. I hope you are alive and well wherever you are. Can you stll move like that after all these years? The ravages of time do have an effect on the body.

  • Omg I remember this show! That guy was amazing

  • wow this guy looks evil lol i love this guy, wonder if he is still doing this today

  • Wow so cool

  • the best performer i have ever seen. really good. no BS .

  • i dont get it

  • Eight to Ten years after coming home, lol what a load of bullshit. American troops were there officially from 65-73. This part of the lyrics doen't make sense! and is total Bullshit.

  • Comment removed

  • @happymana it say 8 to 10 years after coming home they were still fighting the vietnam war. meaning the way people treated them and fighting it in there head.

  • Great stuff,i was 19 when this came out,Doug could you buy a house in the states for $25,000 back then? perfect lip sync, i met Paul Hardcastle in londons docklands in 1988..nice chap

  • This guy is an 80's legend! I remember watching it.... WOOT WOOT

  • When I close my eyes at night - this is what I see.

  • GENIAL

  • I had Paul Hardcastle himself talk to me about my dads video, its so awesome to hear from the actual artist commenting on how he enjoyed my fathers video.... so awesome

  • "What will you do if you win the 25,000?" "Er... buy a car and a house!!!" Aint inflation a bitch?!! Brilliant tune though....

  • Thank you Mr 3D for inlighting the minds of those that have no idea what the Vietnam Combatent went through after they got back from to that HELL. My hat goes off to you and always my respects to all War Veterans. God Bless America

  • Thank you Mr 3D for inlighting the minds of those that have no idea what the Vietnam Combatent went through after they got back from to that HELL. My hat goes off to you and always my respects to all War Veterans

  • So in retrospect Doug was like the 1st ever American Idol.

  • wow youtube got it all..evertime i hear this song i think of this guy

  • did that guy won?

  • @MrCocho69 Yes, he won this show. I remember it like yesterday!

  • @birdsong40

He won the episode he was on, but not the finale. A man called "Dallas" who was half Lionel Richie, half Diana Ross won the finale (I have the show recorded too, and am surprised there are others like me out there!)

  • @cajoboy I remember the guy who did "Endless Love." He was fantastic also!

  • @cajoboy Where did you find the "Dallas" video? I've looked for a long time for it. Loved this show!

  • @Shaleification

I found it on my tv back when the show aired late one Saturday afternoon. I believe I recorded at least the two performances to DVD for a friend a few years ago, so it does survive. If "Dallas" is not on you tube at all, let me know and I will rummage to find it and post it.

  • @cajoboy I've looked pretty thoroughly before commenting to you. But so you wouldn't rummage unneccessarily I spent several hours yesterday looking all over the web, not just YouTube. Let me tell you, when you enter "half man, half woman" into google you can come up with some interesting and/or scary sites.lol. I found tons of people just like me who would love to see "Dallas" again. Every post I read was asking where to find it ... with no answers. If you post it, can you let me know? Thanks!

  • @cajoboy

Actually he goes by "Houston", not "Dallas". So try that.

I do have it on my old Panny DVR, just watched it this morning. So I thought to save time I could remove the HDD and download everything to my PC. Well, it didn't work and now I just screwed the pooch and it won't read it anymore; it just wants to format the drive (means I'll loose everything). I'm willing to send it to the factory if they could retrieve my shows.

  • @cajoboy Actually, his name was Houston.

  • i think this was also personal for him i saw this when the show was on tv years later it still effect me the same way thats talent....i was looking for this i was typin in paul hard castle -vietnam it was wrong all along it was nineteen i forgot the name good thing u-tube has related videos i would have never found it

  • This man is my hero. :D

  • @Trookieness Glad you enjoyed my performance! Hero? Hmmmm..... :o)

  • man, why ist 3-D not an ASL interpreter?? good job!!!

  • @tantramutant Glad you think I should be an ASL interpreter....Actually, I have thought about it, but haven't been able to do..... Just happy if my message gets across to everyone whether they can hear or not.....that's one of the reasons I moved my mouth so emphatically...so people could see what I was saying!

  • I love it! You did an excellant job on this video!

  • Almost 30 years later and this is still incredible.

  • @MrUnidyne thank youu! lol

  • If this was truly appalling then you shouldn't have wasted more of your time by giving us your opinion.

  • this is how I dance when i hit the clubs...bloody good stuff this old boy

  • For Douglas:Compliments! In your performance you seem a perfect mix from a phantom and a soldier that seems moved as dummy.

  • Yes, he truly was fantastic, and deserved those scores!

Trouble is, he also did this performance as a form of protest to show how so many Vietnam Vets still feel that pain to that day .... and to this day!

  • I remember this guy and this show.I always thought this was the actual video on MTV because my parents and I used to watch it all the time in the 80's.I had to google it to remember the name.Thank you for posting this!!!

  • this guy is DOPE!

hits everything, you get the feeling of the song. is on point.

  • How do you put VHS onto the internet? My dad has a bunch other videos I want them on here on youtube with this one. help?

  • I use my digital video camera as a bridge. I plug the camera into the PC using the USB connector (as if I was going to import my home movies), but the camera also has video-in connectors. So, I run my VHS into the camera, and that signal is then sent to the computer. I think video capture is built into Windows, but I use Adobe Premiere (iMovie on a Mac will work too, I think) to save the signal as a video file.

There's other more direct ways, but you'll probably need to buy specialized hardware.

  • Contact your local computer shop.

  • best dancing i have ever seen!!!!

  • so cool!

  • that was super!
