The COP no longer distinguishes Baranis and Cuervos. They're simply front somersaults with a half twist. It doesn't matter how soon/late you complete the twist. As long as you complete the twist at some point in the rotation, that's what counts.
I *think* that if a layout Cuervo style vault is performed you don't get a zero but lose for early twist. There's something in the WTC newsletter explaining it but you can't see the symbol notation very clearly on the pdf but I think that's what it says.
a cuervo is the front handspring with a 1/2 twist, pike coming out of it. This link here is like a cuervo but without the r/o back handspring onto the board.
Looks like the bailed on that first vault. Her number flashed a double twist but she opened up at 1 1/2. The 2nd vault looked dangerously close to being a Cuervo in the post-flight, which is not allowed.
The difference between a Barani and a Cuervo is that a Barani is a front flip with a half turn, where as a Cuervo is a half turn into a back flip. Pretty similar, but a Cuervo is no longer a legitimate vault and so anyone using this technique should get a 0. That's what the rules say, but the judges don't enforce this most of the time.
To clarify the Cuervo issue...
