where i go to school, first student..a crap company.. took over star shuttle.. another crap company... there service is now even worse than ever. my bus on a half day comes at 12:17 (or is supposed to) the bus actually comes at 2:50...WTF get here on time!!!!

my drivers not very safe either...

I worked for First Student from 2001 to 2005, I'd never drive a school bus again because of my experiences as a driver...Nothing that travels on the Connecticut Roads, can't I drive...Semi's-Class 1, motorcycle, auto and then public service license...Bus drivers are so under paid for the responcibilties they have, it's a shame...Remember, ya get what ya pay for folks...Shit pay gets ya shit service.., As a company, time to send FS back to the UK...

while i was watching this video, i shut my eyes, and it was all to familiar, we are a branch of first student in canada and also have a union, but the company totally ignores are rights, and does what they want when they want, its pathetic how any company can treat employees in such a manner, but FIRST STUDENT takes the cake. I say stay strong what you guys did is awesome, i only hope our drivers wil find the same strength to do the same

I was a very good bus driver....I had a very good driving record..It was mentioned in this video that the company wants us to be "PROFESIONAL".....When I was doing my job I was "PROFESIONAL"...When I wasn't at FS...What I did on my own time was MY BUSINES..Weather it would be posting an ad, Going to a bar and drinking, going to a party...the company had NO BUSINES TO FIRE ME...I VIOLATED NOTHING..There was NOTHING in the handbook that said I couldn't post a personal ad, Having fun / drinking.

They are spending tons of money for these new safety things like ZONAR..They spend lots of money to UPGRADE those child check mate systems last year..the factory ones were just fine in my book...They wont stand by a driver and support them....They are inconsistant with there consistancy...They are always changing the rules..FS is making Laidlaw look like angels..and Laidlaw had issues but nothing like this...

I was a bus driver for 17 years with Laidlaw/First Student...I was terminated back in june of 2009 becasue I posted a personal ad on Craigs list...I had nothing in the ad about me working for FS / As a driver / Looking for any kids, It was an ad looking for companionship / partner / some fun...the company got wind of the ad by another driver and they terminated me..the ad was posted in Feb and they they fired me in june..They said no profesional bus driver should be posting any ads like that.

I know this stuff still goes on and should still be investigated by the City of Pittsburgh. All of the Former City Employees Hate this company and are in fear of making any slight mistake.. Example: "You guys LEFT A red rag on the floor next time I see this you are getting written up" .This company has Fired technicians for doing paperwork wrong ! THATS INSANE ! HELL YEAH!! . I worked for First Vehicle for Almost 3 years (CITY OF PITTSBURGH) The Rumors and Allegations are True about this company. I was forced to resign because of their micromanagement bullshit. All they wanted was paperwork and Micromanagement. They worked really hard to FUCK the people that know what they are doing and turn facilities Union against them. They Harrassed me to the point Last Year where I had to take 3 months off work from the mental anguish in fear of losing my job !

I was a mechanic for Firstbus and the shop forman used to sell illegal smokes and probably grugs to the drivers. I told the upper management and they did nothing! The drivers used to perform a drive through in the shop to det there shit!!!

We need unions here in Ontario, Canada, badly. We don't get paid for pre-trip inspections of our buses, only from our first pick-up in the am, we are expected to clean our own bus, both inside and out and now they are taking away even the little things like coffee in the driver's room and no more Christmas bonuses.

Our wages or lack thereof, do not reflect our level of commitment and responsibility we have towards the safe transportation of our students.

First Student needs to give ALL their employees the same benefits. Meaning... if the branches in Scotland and England get pensions, healthcare and decent pay... then the American Branches should get those.

They are lying about things to the Unions... who are fighting for these workers... saying they don't have the money to give the raises... and yet... they can go around buying every company out there and turn it to crap...

Also why are they firing people when it is so hard to get bus drivers in the first place. I totally agree to fire someone if they are a possible danger, but come on a bad check? Totally ridiculous!

hey i was fired too for writing a bad check and i know there are people at the same company and still have there jobs and rhey have harsher crimes on there background like child endangerment assault and battery and beating the crap out of there own child someone who left child on bus and the list goes on but i got fired hope the UNION will get me my JOB back keeping my fingers crossed

Update:

The company backed down on the first two terminations and reinstated Robert Newcomer and Katonyah Bell with full back pay... Katonyah is back at work but Robert, on the advice of his doctor, immediately resigned)...

This victory was only possible as a result of their union taking the fight forward against this union busting company.

Teamsters are trying to form a Union right now at First Student Houston. Now I am scared!! By the way pay is 12 bucks an hour, lucky if you get 30 hours, health insurance and dental is 30.00 a WEEK!!! AWFUL.
