Not even Goku was able to kill Buu until he had his powers restored. If neither Vegeta or Hercule were at the fight with Kid Buu, Goku would've died. His "pride" is the power passed on in his family. He has a lot to live up to, so he talks about it.

Thats his downful at times. Goku fighting style (whick I credit Akria for displaying in a cartoon) is more flexible. For example, Vegeta should have killed 2nd form Cell, in turn being the hero and he could have faught Goku till his heart's content.

I believe it is impossible to hurt Goku's feelings. Nothing anyone does gets him truely mad (except Krillins death). Thats his advantage....he doesn't take anything personally.
