Oklahoma's offense got dominated by LSU's defense all game, but OU's defense finally woke up and smashed LSU's offense in the 2nd half! it was such a great defensive game!

Matt Mauck I love you but I'll be damned if you didn't try to give away our three biggest games this year.. Georgia, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma.. just killer turnovers. Good thing our defense was out of this world.

USC was VOTED national champions. The Oklahoma team we beat would have murdered the slow Michigan team USC beat by 14 in the Rose Bowl.  Oklahoma underestimated KSU and played horribly, but they had a whole month to get things together and prepare for LSU. We still won and dominated the game. Their offense averaged 46 ppg. They got both TD's from short fields. If Mauk hadn't thrown that pick, this game would have ended up about 31-7 LSU.

@machine1418 TO be honest it should have been USC and LSU in that title game. that could of been an even better game. just like in the 2005 title game auburn was robbed of a shot at the title against USC, Auburn was unbeaten in 2004.

That was a talented team LSU had...Just their QB depth was ridiculous (Mauck, Randall, Russell, Flynn). Coached by Nick Saban, offense ran by Jimbo Fisher, defense ran by Will Muschamp...Just insane

Jason White was nowhere near 100% in this game.  That he took every snap is still beyond me. Even strange was that Oklahoma was never really out of this game. Credit to LSU and an incredible defensive game plan.

I am sorry Pete Carrol. USC accepted BCS money and therefore must accept the final results of the poll. Congratulations,you won the AP poll . In the grand scheme of things,that's the same thing as winning a poll conducted at Pete's pool hall. You won a protest vote because the AP was mad their voting power was decreased.

@TJ8974 ......I don't think there's any question that these were the two best teams that year..........at least when you look at resumes. The 2003 Oklahoma Sooners are without question the best team LSU's beaten in the last 20 years.

LSU won their national championship on the field...in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. USC "claimed" their national title the next week when they had to wait on the pollsters to vote them #1. There's only one crystal ball...and it's tough that USC didn't get into the BCSCG game but they agreed to the system before the season started
