Not a film, it's a plexiglass or Lexan type product. Not a chance in hell a film would resist that, even if applied to the outside of the glass

By the looks of it I would say yes it's security film, have seen a fair few demonstrations by various companies some good others not so vary in quality and performance it's probably 350 micron. For casual info. safety film is 100microns thick & applied in-situ, designed to retain glass but no more. For security film it must be BSAU209 certified & min 300microns thick, the glass needs to be taken out and film applied to entire inner glass surface ancored. it falls inside door otherwise.

Many weapons are fibre glass/carbon fibre for weight being carried about, so if the weapon he was using didn't have a hard point to it, it shouldn't have broken the toughened glass. A few years back i watched 2 kids trying to break into a normal car drivers side window using a brick, it just bounced off over and over.
