  • sabbath's snowblind>>>>>>>>>>this

  • Love Styx <3

  • video makes no sence to what the song is about or is reference-pulled from airwaves-yes-that is all we had for most part in sharing music- in early 80's--very addicting music-through in the snow your hooked--glad i made it out alive

  • Yes im soooo high!!!!!

  • The best Composition James Young ever wrote...

  • I feel stupid to admit that, even though I knew my rock pretty well, the first time I heard this I didn't know this was Styx until Tommy's vocals came in. As long as James was singing and that synth riff was playing, I was thinking, " damn, this is a cool song, I wonder who it is?"

  • WHO WOULD HAVE THE BALLS TO RE-DO THIS SONG... LET ME AT THEM.. FUCKER~S the BEST Styx song ever~!!!!!!!

  • I remember when this "lady in white" had me feeling like this. Thank God not anymore!!!

  • A song about cocaine called "Snowblind"? Wow, okay!

  • this song is about cocaine.

  • Awesome song, awesome guitar solo.

  • You filled me with confidence but you blinded my eyes...it was 1981.

  • Knowing is light and light hides what is known. Only in the darkness can you see the stars.

  • @synchromorph "Woe to those who say that darkness is light and light is darkness" - Jehovah God, Creator of heaven and earth.

  • It's really about any addiction, including money, power, status, materialism. It's about seeing the surface and not the depth of anything. It's about how the snow, literal snow can blind you to the truth.

Neo: Why does the light hurt my eyes?

Morpheus: Because you've never used them before.

Most people are literal, left-brained, and stupid.

  • this is great!!

  • @patty45100--dude it's the 1981 what did you expect??

  • amazing song...why is there a postman walking in winter...the songs about the cain fever yayo some good old snort

  • Holey shit it just started snowing!!!!!

  • this video is dum they should have done it better than this omg!

  • And sacred, you obviously didn't know that their original name was Trade Winds 4, but the record label already had a band by that name, Oh, and Hades and Hell are two different places, two different religions, two different concepts. Nice try though

  • Not many know this but styxx is a river that runs through HeLL. Top comment Crack wasn't in exsistince then maybe cocaine you mean but blah huh

  • Not many know this but styxx is a river that runs through HeLL. Top comment Crack wasn't in exsistince then maybe cacaine you mean but blah huh

  • To those 8 dislikes I have just one thing to say.....nah, you would'nt understand anyway..

  • великолепная работа на тему песни, и ничего, что сама песня про кокаин, что не совпадает с темой фильма. Главное, что все получилось органично и загадочно. А для тех, кто фильм не смотрел и содержания песни не знает - вообще все будет по кайфу.

  • I forgot all about this songs other meaning with the devil thing. Every time i listen to this song it makes me think about the white power. The song is so freakin easy to understand what its about. I mean come on (DEVIL IN WHITE) is cocaine. Your so fine, i can't get away, is cocaine. How can anybody think this song is about anything other the a person's addition to cocaine. Because they say devil it is about the devil, how lame. Don't like the music then don't listen to it.

  • hahaha

  • I AM SATAN, BOW BEFORE ME I AM YOUR GOD, I WILL GROW HORNS AND WORSHIP YOU BACK I LOVE YOU YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO GAIN, FOREVER AND EVER I WILL LIVE.

    ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI

  • @Shinzu92 You Athiest Bastard! God Is My God, And He Always Will Be! YouTube Is NO Place To Say Shit Like That! This Song Is About A Cocaine Addict, Not A Satan Worshiper. I Can See Why You Said That, Because Apparently YOU Are The Satan Worshiper. Oh, COULD YOU PEOPLE CUT IT OUT WITH THE FUCKING ILLUMINATI CRAP!?

  • @xxMichelleLovesBTRxx I AM THE DEVIL AND YOU ARE A SHEEP. BOW DOWN BEFORE ME.

  • @Shinzu92 Nahh, I Think I'll Have To Pass.

  • @xxMichelleLovesBTRxx DITTTO!!! This songs about cocaine, and thats all there is to it. (THE DEVIL IN WHITE!!!!!)

  • I don't quite grasp all of this Satanista crap. The Homo Habilis types who condemn Styx are not exactly Mensa alumni, do you get me?

One arcane thing I DO know: Shaw is a freaking Hobbit. No, I mean it! Tommy is a stupefyingly talented guitarist and all that, yes yes yes. All hail to Shaw, the Guitar Lord- absolutely.

BUT: he's also a freaking Hobbit. The Dude don't measure but all of 4 foot 6". Don't piss him off, 'cuz he'll gnaw right through your ankle.

  • beavis...play it backwards and listen for yourself....the line forwards is" I tried so hard to make it so" you be the judge

  • No devils here...just R&R...

  • Awesome song! If you play it backwards it's wicked creepy and one part sounds like "satan moves in our voices". People were busting their balls about it long before Tipper Gore

  • @KurtVail44 give me a break...

  • Awesome song! If you play it backwards it's wicked creepy and one part sounds like "satan moves in our voices". People were busting their balls about it long before Tipper Gore

  • this little kids fuckin scary

  • You have to look pretty hard to confuse this as a satanic song.

  • Super cool classic song and I like this video. Great Job !

  • Super cool classic song and I like this video. Great Job !

  • Gee, was I ever wrong. (oops. T'was just my guess about the song. Thought it was about J.Y. taking Tommy out of his shell as mentioned in Guitar Player summer 81 issue) So it was about that (cough, cough) 'white substance'. Gee whizz!

  • Comment removed

  • why you peoplen concentrte in the negatjve things and just enjoy the G.TH.MUSIC!!!! dummis

  • I HATE LIBS!

  • For all you who didn't read the caption, the video is listed as Snowblind with a Night Gallery episode (an old tv show similar to Twilight Zone.) Tommy Shaw admitted in an interview that he used to do coke in the early '80s, maybe some of the other band members also did?

  • @jeffb2066 JY was a big "snowbird" too

  • shut the f... up all of u

  • Tipper Gore is a CUNT!

  • Tipper Gore is an idiot!!!!

  • Big Snow this week, blowing and snorting from the skies.

  • great song. wtf kid in the video?

    where is the cocaine?

  • @BalthazarAtlanta wtf mail man in the video?

  • i thought rainbow did this song?

  • Styx is a river that runs through hell. Not heaven.

  • Heh, loved this song back when I did coke.... still love it now, LOL

  • Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, 10 A.M. ...N 43 ... W 124 ...still snowing big fat flakes, 28F on the themometer. ???

  • up and over, roundabout i need a hill to slow my mind

  • Nothing like a song about the illusion cocaine will give you!And the addiction sets in and you cant get away!

  • @warpedkaine11 Absolutely!! thank God I'm not living under this illusion anymore!!

  • This song just outright rules!!

  • When I saw the first scene of the kid in bed I thought it was Troll 2 for a second...

  • i remember the days of bein sbow blind yeah baby

  • @funhatecrimes So do I, Baby, So do I & this was one my theme songs Ooooh

  • I kinda thought the song was about cocaine. I was around in the 80s first time I've seen the video.

  • @shelbysea3 umm the song is about cocaine

  • The kid in this video LOVES coke.

  • FUCK. I thought this was a cover of Black Sabbath and I would ignore that it was Styx. I was sadly mistaken.

  • oh thank god this isnt a black sabbath cover

  • Adam Sandler and the movie Big Daddy helped to bring back public interest for Styx.

  • THIS VIDEO SUCKS ASS BUT THE SONG IS REALLY NICE THOUGH.

  • @thewrightlilbro hahaha thats why i have enjoyed 10 times better the live version this video is clerly gay

  • Brings back memories...

  • @tjrtherocksponge Thank you! now i know, and oh i didnt know it actually broke them up, i wasnt alive then, i was born in 1991, but im a big follower!!! i always love to learn something new about my favorite rock band :)

  • I dont actually think dennis was to much involved in the writing, just because tommy shaw was the one who had the cocain problem, thats why he almost lost his wife, but im not sure on this one.

  • This song is indeed about cocain, listen to the one verse, "harmless and innocent, you devil in white, you stole my will without a fight, you filled me with confidence, blinded my eyes, trick me with visions of paradise" totally bout coke

  • what's the video from?!

  • @DcBTrout read the notes

  • this video is totaly about cocaine when your young and you want to try a new high

  • i used to be snowblind...this song takes me back to my party days...

  • I grew up on the south side of Chicago watched these guys practice when

they were called TW4.All that satan bullshit is nonsense the song is about

    someone strung out on blow

  • there was no crack back then....it was freebasing..

  • like many songs there is a dual meaning. many parents forbad their kids to listen to styx because of this song. i chose to interpret it as a love song.

  • rock and roll at its best

  • I wonder if this song has any connection to Snowblind Friend by Steppenwolf??

    Check it out on youtube.

  • You are right.. i always loved this song, but i didn't really understand what it meant.. now i know after you said cocaine, the words make sense. best cocaine addiction song ever

  • best song about cocaine addiction! by far.

  • actully i think system of a downs snowblind is a better cocaine addiction song just my opinion though

  • i totally agree

  • The video makes since, if you've ever been there. Thoughts of nothing else..peaking out the window......Snow Blind. I guess its an 80's thing.

  • always loved this song

  • I think Thunderhawk70's comment is slang for "kick ass" Don't be hatin :)

  • Mr. Roboto is underated they jumped the shark with "lady", come on now!

  • Haha, are you serious? Mr Roboto was a big downfall of their career.

  • Ya I know the song is kind of a joke but after a couple of beers it sounds pretty good. My point is for every good song they had they had a big joke song. I think Lady and The Best of times are two of the worst songs in rock and roll history. Conversely, I love snowblind and renegade

  • Lady is a terrible one too, I couldn't agree with you more

  • @Johnbonham911

The album that song was on: they came up with it to fight accusations over the alleged backwards line "Satan moves through our voices" heard in "Snowblind."

  • good song. horrible video that makes no sence

  • My fav Styx song...

  • 1 BAD TUNE... Takes me back A few.

  • i think this just became my fav styx song. i love how jy starts off ominous and dark and mysterious(actually reminds me of phantom of the opera) then shaw comes in pushing the song into a whole new dimension

  • I love Styx and this is defiantly is a classic. They were great till they jumped the shark with Kilroy was here. I just couldn't get into that mr. roboto shit. I could have wore out The Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight.

  • @RAPSUCKS1738 I agree. and I did were out the GRand Illusion and piecesof eight.

  • @RADKRAZY I'm not surprised, Classics They still sound great today, If I had to replace my collection they would on top of the list

  • Oh yeah! That works on several different levels!

  • so fucking greatest hard/pomp rock hymn!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats a mythological rock music!!!!!!!!!!

  • System of a Down - Snowblind ...

Black Sabbath - Snowblind.. they both show tht its about cocaine lol thts why they say "COCAINE!"

in both of teh songs.. but soad covered black sabbath's version of snowblind

  • This merge of Night Gallery and Styx is brilliant-Styx 4-ever! Thanks to whoever made this, I will continue to enjoy it!!!

  • the kid looks high!LOL

  • I like how you hear James Young's voice very deep and slow, pretty calming, then it just turns into Tommys energetic voice, that changes the song completely!

  • great song - it's about coke - and i'm TOTALLY into Satan...

  • One of my favorites when snowmobiling!

  • The whole satanist thing was started by Al Gore's wife in a futile attempt to rid the the world from rock. The song is about a friend on crack and not satan. By the way, turn the song backwards, it doesn't sound like anything evil. It sound like someone gargling

  • I think most bands used the satanist thing to sell more albums. KISS, Rush, Motley Crue etc. King Diamond and Marilyn Manson are the only two artists that I know of who are real satanists.

  • That's good 1guitarwiz. Nice. I too have played the song backwards. Sounds just like gargling in a toilet bowl. Awesome song tho. Right on wiz!

  • @1guitarwiz

I just looked up the allegations made against this song, as well as the other songs that were accused of having "backwards, satanic messages." LOL these women deserve to be shot, for they are the only ones trying to spread evil by trying to downplay the greatness of these songs and the bands that played them!

  • @1guitarwiz so it sounds like bob dylan (whom i am a fan of)

  • Comment removed

  • Heavy Metal Poisoning was a "Fuck you" to the "church" crowd. And yes this song's about coke. But that doesn't mean their music is evil.

  • The song was about cocaine abuse. "Devil in white" for example. The "She-man Satan Hater's Club" (aka PMRC) of the early 90s headed by people like Tipper Gore that crucified many recording artists (only to have her ass handed to her by Dee Snider) attacked this song ignorantly. Good times! LOL

  • Agreed, heard this song 100+ times, it's definitely about coke. "You build me with confidence but you blinded my eye"?

  • superstitious stupid bastards. Decade after decade, attacking music. Just like the Salem witch trials, GOD give me a fuckin break. And WTF kind of name is TIPPER, anyway???!!??

  • @wconditi Actually that would be the mid-late 80's. Do your homework.

  • @romeokid69 Yawn....

  • @wconditi You're just a jealous little troll because I corrected you. Get over it and go get laid.

  • I did not hear any messages. What are they talking about?

  • Some people claimed that this song had satanic messages when you played it backwards. Of course, that was a whole pile of bullshit because anybody that knew STYX would know they're not that kind of band.

  • Same with Stairway to heaven.

Just cause you play something backwards and it sounds evil.

and most of the time it doesn't even sound like it's even saying a word.

It sounds like BRAHGHGNODUIHGIOSGWJRGOIAHDGIOAJGIOSFJGSIOFJH to me.

  • Its true!!

    yours truly,

    Satan!

  • kick ass bluesy song

  • Tommy Shaw and James Young..great musicians

  • great song, good show,

    GREAT VIDEO.

    Thanks for making and posting!

  • that ad thingy is wrong the album is 'Paradice Threatre'

  • Yes but this recording is from their live tour album Caught in the Act, although it's originally from Paradise Theater.

  • Chug, I never realized it was anti-drug, but it actually is when you listen to the words, isn't it?

I know Tipper Gore was the one that said it had backward Satanic messages in it... which was hilarious to me at the time since any Styx fan knew better! Glad she gave all her foolishness up!

  • I love Styx.

  • my fav stxy song

  • awesome video colediamond , just creepy enough !

  • Is this Beaver's house in the 70s ?

  • Styx's snowblind is an antidrug song

    Sabbath's snowblind was prodrug lol

  • of Course not many are smart enough to realize at all!!!!!

  • I agree that the latter was. It is kinda sleezy listening to it. I am addicted to the sound.

  • When we were kids suposed to here satanic stuff we tryed with this song but most my vinyl gone we herd somethin don remember but back then we playey alot of songs backwards vinyl is the best!miss it expensive now this about to much coke i guessing ?well good tune

  • Comment removed

  • In wich part there is a backmasking on this song?

  • Its hard to find this out, but from what I've heard if you light a couple up, get hammered, spin yourself around and stand on your head the "I try so hard to make it so" is supposed to be "Satan move through our voices." This, of course, in an anti-drug song. See Kilroy Was Here for the Stygian reply

  • First of all youtube can go fuck itself! Dennis De young wrote this! James Young and Shaw sing it! And we should all enjoy it!!!

  • Great song !!

  • Kind of "Dark Side of the Rainbow" thing going on with the vid...love this song!

  • Thanx Whammytap.

  • Dennis DeYoung wrote this one. Just ot let you know.

But this really is an incredible song, not to mention album. I've got the original on vinyl and it's just bloody amazing.

  • Correct. Dennis and James wrote this song - James (JY) sang the verse.

I too own this on vinyl & CD. I love the Vinyl version because it has the rainbow stamped ladies like the theater columns on its face.

  • Tommy Shaw's songs were always better than Dennis DeYoung's songs.

  • .....beautiful

  • 只々懐かしい・・・。そして、あの頃を思い出す。

  • I love Styx.

    My favorite's Renegade.

"HANG MAN IS COMIN' DOWN FROM THE GALLOWS AND I DON'T HAVE VERY LONG!"

  • Black Sabbath version is better :P... just kidding... well put together

  • Great song!!!! I love the lyrics!!!! One of their best.

  • 只々懐かしい・・・。そして、あの頃を思い出す。

  • のtakaomurasakoありがとう

  • By far one of the best songs from Styx, from one of the best Albums ever recorded (Paradise Theatre), along with Moving Pictures,Led Zeppelin II, Dark Side of the Moon, Toys in the Attic and Hotel California. Long Live Rock and Roll. CLASSIC. Nothing in today's music comes remotely close.

  • couldn't agree more man. word.

  • well put together

  • Thanx

  • i wonder what type of snow james young is talking about in this song :-)

  • yep 80s

  • Black Sabbath's Snowblind destroys this.

  • well go say that on a black sabbath video because styx fans don't give a fuck about black sabbath

  • styx jams and so does sabbath

  • Yep - the lyrics remove any doubt what "snow" James Young was singing about.

25 or 6 to 4 - another fun drug song.

  • for anyone who doesnt know, this song is about the cocaine. perhaps the child in the video represents the innocence lost.....

also check out 25 or 6 to 4 by chicago for a simular song.

  • Most preachers thought this song was written by Lucifer. Preachers are gay.

  • Killler song.....sadly they put a cheesy video to it.

  • Satan move through our voices

  • I believe in God and Jesus Christ, but I do not believe in the absurd claims of backmasking. For a good rebuttal of the idea, view the Wikipedia article on it.

  • crazy liberal....

  • For the record, I am actually rather conservative, as such things go.
