  • Question: can people not asian help

  • 0:38 this is why you should never fuck with us asians

  • Two reasons why I'm not gonna waste my time with The Last Airbender:

    1. Paramount ignoring the fact that the characters of Avatar are of Asian and Inuit culture and race.

    2. It has one of the morons from Twilight who disgraced the meaning of vampires,I can't trust anyone involved with Twilight as far as I could throw 'em.

  • man, this film is racist, BUY OUR PRODUCTS THAT SAY THIS FILM IS RACIST!!!!!

  • Racebending is just out to make money. It's all about profit. Trying ot make money with the sell of t-shirt. They are just one big rip off.

  • screw u its just a movie

  • @Codyrocks0510

If that's your sentiment toward the topic then you obviously have no idea how it feels like to be a minority. Being underrepresented in "American" aka "White" culture is so hypocritical taking into consideration how America promotes diversity and calls itself a "melting pot". There's no melting but rather assimilation into White culture or "GTFO" is the sentiment of the majority. EVERYONE in this country was an immigrant at one point or another except the Native Americans.

  • Please do tell how does it fell to be a minorrity. I my self I'm Native American, so does that mean I should hate white people for what they did? They are not all Caucasians. What are you looking at? The bad gays are the only ones asains. I pity you and your one way road mentality

  • @theewall200

Haha so let me get this straight. You're calling me along with anyone who voices against change to have a "one way road mentality"? You're really confused in the head more than I thought. The ones who are narrow-minded are the ones who don't believe in change and continue down the same road of stereotypical mal-casting practices. If it's led to higher profits before, why change now? Right?

I don't need your pity! I'm proud to be a part of this movement!

  • @theewall200

If America were in the hands of folks like you who wish to never seek change even though it's obvious that it's dooming yourselves, we'd never have seen Obama get elected into the oval office. McCain would of nuked the whole dam world that war-loving psychopath.

  • I like how you like to jump to conclusions. I never said change was bad, but racebending are racist for not wanting whites as major roles. If they choose an asain I would be fine with that.

I have no problem with Obama being president.

  • @theewall200

It's essentially considered "change" because if you look at theatrical casting practices for major movies, Hollywood has ALWAYS RESERVED THE LEADING ROLES TO CAUCASIANS. I hate to make this argument about race as much as the next guy because I grew up with a diverse ethnic background, but it's a FACT THAT CAN'T BE IGNORED! You may not be familiar with it, but ask your ethnic friends who see things from a different perspective.

  • @theewall200

How exactly is racebending racist? Whites ALWAYS get the major roles EVEN in movies where they are BLATANTLY not suppose to regardless of what the movie was based off of. That's exactly the controversy. If you look at the 1990's TV series "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues" starring David Carradine. It's a Chinese Shaolin Monk starring a White actor.

  • @theewall200

If you look at "Charlie Chan" in the 1920-1930's they star a White actor who essentially "yellowfaces" an Asian persona, depicting demoralizing caricatures and further perpetuating stereotypes. I did a search on "yellowface" on YouTube and it kind of surprised me. I used to think like you to because I'm a bit White-washed myself haha. I mean everyone who lives in America is White-washed to some extent. ;)

  • @jmlew, same with "Kung Fu' because casting Bruce Lee would mean an Asian guy is beating up white people, in the 70's, and somewhat today it would have been unacceptable. So they cast someone else, who could apparently play the role better than the king of Kung Fu? I seriously thate all the people who think yellowfacing is B.S.

  • @theewall200, i like your standpoint "racebending is slightly racist, meaning we cant be racist with yellowfacing, then we are right and im not going to listen to anything they say kuz they're Azn." Racebending isnt at fault at all, and most arguements are slightly hipocritical, and white almosyt always get the leading roles in movies, thats what they're trying to stop.

  • The irony here is that not wanting white actors in fact makes you racist.

  • @theewall200

The irony here is that there's a movie devoted to Asian culture, who the majority of its viewers take for granted that they're even Asian characters but for some strange reason Paramount decided to cast all Caucasians. Does this mean that the next time Paramount decides to create a movie about "American" aka "White" culture that they'll all Asians/Blacks/Latinos as the leading role and put Caucasians as extras??

  • @jmlew, id whatch that, lol, that cant be right though, kuz we would get too much done with just us.

  • my only thing is that the characters dont all look asian and I doubt the director is being racist its just a coinsidense some actors are indian. plus the firenation is near the equator so there bound to have dark skin and the creators of avatar are white not asian.

  • 1) Define "looking Asian".

    2) Coinsidence? Right. A century of yellow face is simply Coinsidence. *buzzer sound*

    3) Actually, they live south of the Equator. The original Fire Nation is based on Chinese, Japanese and Mongolian culture, not Indian.

    4) So your saying that women can't right male characters, black people can write black characters and any character a white person writes has to be white? *buzzer sound*

  • @racebending No im just saying that JUST because the characters arnt asian even though some indians are considerd asian, doesnt mean the director is racist and you shouldnt give the movie a chance. And for example look at the new karate kid.

  • @Blballerboy

What about the new Karate Kid? It absolutely makes no sense to call it "Karate Kid" in the first place if it takes place in China and the kid practices Kung Fu, which is not Karate. Maybe that's why they're renaming it, "The Kung Fu Kid". Study has indicated that most non-Asian Americans do not generally differentiate between Asian Americans and Chinese Americans. Stereotypes of both groups are nearly identical, thus proving the renaming issue of the movie.

  • @Blballerboy

"The characters don't look Asian". I wish I had a quarter for every time I heard that statement. How are Asians suppose to look then? Please enlighten us. Anime characters don't look Asian either, but they're obviously Asian or do you think they're Caucasian as well? This is absurd.

  • @jmlew first of all I said that the characters dont ALL look Asian so if your going to quote me please do it right. Secound Aang doesnt look very asian to me while Zuko does. Third im sure the director is not racist he just is taking a diffrent approch to the movie AND you gotta say the new trailer does look awsome.

  • @Blballerboy

Alright, so Zuko looks Asian so they cast Dev Patel as Zuko and remake the entire Fire Nation into people of Iranian/South Asian decent when they were strictly oriental? So the movie makers just stripped the cultural constructs of the movie and remade it with flashy CGI and pop-star quality main characters. Interesting.........

  • Oh look! Its you again! Your posting the same comment on a different movie, look at that!

And I'll say again, I can't believe your comparing Paramount (I went to school and learneded da english dis time, you prick) to Nazi's and the KKK.

Comments like that is exactly why I will NEVER take ANYONE from Racebending seriously. Ever.

  • The person above is not a representative or a member of the Racbending movement. In fact we have commented in the past on how pro-casters could ever equate this with Hitler's Final Solution is horribly racist and ignorant. If you want to talk to real people from Racebending, please visit our website and E-Mail us. We can answer any questions you have.

  • Honestly racebending guy, he is a representative, just as I and that Aang7777 kid are representative's of our side of this.

I'm not entirely sure if I want to talk to actual representative from Racebending. Because I'm already getting comments left and right from you people saying the same thing over and over and over for the past 6 months now. I don't need to hear it from more of you.

But hey, if these other people calm down, and I find a way to encourage myself to do it, I'll e-mail them.

  • your saying that because they didn't cast the movie exactly as you wanted it, they are as bad as the nazi's, who murdered millions of Jews. Yep that makes a lot of sense. Way to overreact. Oh yeah and i guess saying "fuck white ppl" isn't being racist at all.

i SUPPORT THE CASTING OF THE LAST AIRBENDER

  • Fuck Paramount we can agree with. Fuck white people however is dishonorable and makes our cause looks bad. We don't hate white people. In fact, over half this movement are supported by people of Caucasian Ethnicity. Please be more polite in your responses so we do not lose people such as the people who responded below.

  • @racebending See the problem with being rational, is that the majority of Hollywood's movies are already being decimated by greed and incompetence, and now in 2010, racism too? You, your children, and probably there children will be subjected to the watered-down garbage that is being churned out because of the overpowering worship of profit models and not the actual ART that should be the driving force. Something so absolutely complex and deep and cultural as Airbender, already another casualty.

  • @racebending

its just a movie bug deal

  • @ Codyrocks0510

Yeah, seriously Rosa Parks, it's just a bus ride.

If we can't take the little steps we'll never make big leaps. The fact the original story was so rich in all types of Asian cultures was phenomenal, and yet Paramount couldn't see it's beauty for what it truly was. It might not seem like a big deal, but to those that understand the cultural implications this film makes, it's a devastating blow to the original source material.

  • Support The Last Airbender. *TLA

  • Pro-casters don't think that "Asians can't act".....

  • LMAO nerdy Asians

  • who the hell cares if they're not asian omg!!!!! They don't look asian at all on the show!!!! Sure they're supposed to be... but they don't look like it so who cares!!!!! make a movie on what they look like not what they're ACTUALLY supposed to be!!!!!

  • THANK YOU

thats what I'm always saying, it was the same for dragonball Z(shitty movie though) people always bitch about how the actors arent Asian, but if the creators of the anime want them to be, then make the characters LOOK asian

  • @gcharocks wtf? they dress like asians and they're portraying an asian culture. how is that not at all like asian? wat do u want to see? chinky eyes? buck teeth? and an asian accent?

  • @shakazulu44 rofl wow!!!! "Chinky eyes" "Buck Teeth" hahaha ur the real racist!!! I wanna see that they LOOK asian sum do, ut Aang doesn't and he's the fricken main character!!! They dress like theyre race which is Fire Nation Earth Kingdom, etc. There is no real race. But the main thing is they DON"T LOOK ASIAN!!!!!!

  • @gcharocks aight then how do u suppose they portray asians in cartoons smart guy?

  • @shakazulu44 give em "chinkey" eyes rofllamo like sum of the characters WHO ARE ACTUALLY ASIAN!!!!!! XDXDXDXDXDXDXDXD you r one sad individual

  • and ur a one stupid individual. if thas the we're going by ur standards then there are NO asians in the series then.

but my point is they're all asian because they're portraying asian culture. they don't have to look asian. it's the fact that they're meant to be asian.

so shut up. u dont know shit about racism. in fact it's ignorant people like u who are causing the problem

  • @shakazulu44 I dont know shit about racism because it SHOULD'nt exist its just a lame excuse to boycott this movie!!!! Okay we get just dont WATCH it then. u don't have to go around wasting youtube bandwith space to make useless videos that only a few people watch! Some of the characters LOOK asian such as the monks and some of the firenation people. Make them Asian! Now thats a perfect casting! But aang as an asian kid would be a crappy casting! Racism is stupid!!! Rofl "Chinky eyes"

  • @gcharocks youre apperently hella ignorant too. just cuz u think racism SHOULDn't exist doent meant the it DOESn't exist. this is y ur dumb becuase u wanna just turn a blind eye to racism. and thas y u and people who think like u are the problem when it comes to racism in america

and about the characters who look "asian" in the cartoon, how can u tell that they "look asian"? it's arguable. wat isn't arguable is the fact that the whole avatar world is soaked in asian culture.

  • @shakazulu44, its not even remotely argueable, infact the creators themselves stated that the characters, and the universe of the show is asian, and what exactly makes a character asian, squinty eyes, yellow skin, and being good at math, is that what you were thinking?

  • @zillatamer are u arguing with me or agreeing with me?

  • @gcharocks

You're one pathetic individual who obviously thinks that even Anime characters should be portrayed as Caucasian because Asians obviously can't have big eyes or pale skin. News flash for you: it's a movie about Asians, they eat Asian foods, dress in Asian clothes, and have Asian names, but they're White?! Is it the fact that they speak English without an accent that throws everyone off? Never met an Asian who can speak straight English before? *looks in the mirror* oh wait...

  • well aang katara sokka and toph are voiced by caucasians in the show, so they are not voiced by asians, nor are they ever called asians or native americans in the show.

  • @Aang7777

You are damn persistent, I see you everywhere! Either that or you like to debate. You might make a good lawyer someday. ;)

Ok so like I said before,

Appa/Momo are voiced by a Caucasian guy, so does that mean a "white guy" should play them in the movie? Stick some fur on him and paint him white and add some horns.

Bart Simpson - voiced by a woman.

Apu - voiced by a Caucasian guy.

So if they made a live Simpsons should Apu be White and Bart a woman?

  • Yes, the only way you can make people look like a race is to give them horribly racial stereotypes. So according to you, you cant have black skin and curly hair and be African America. Only by giving someone a "coon face" can they be really African American. This kind of thinking is racist and ignorant on so many levels it's not even funny...

  • lol, you couldn't pay me to wear that shirt. And you all should drop the butthurt, the castings great how it is.

  • And yes, if master cheif was a fag I would send him to STD island too.

  • You know STD's had nothing to do with Homosexuals right? STD's have been with us since humans came on the scene two millions years ago. STD's don't care what sex, gender or sexuality you are. If you use your sex organs, your a target. Also, somehow, I don't believe you when you say "I'm not a racist." I'm sure if I observed you for an hour I would find you doing horrible racist things. Hell, if this the way you treat homosexuals, I can only imagine how you treat minorities.

  • @racebending

ITS JUST A FREAKING MOVIE! BIG DEAL!

  • @Codyrocks0510 yeah is just a movie but look at the cartoon series katara saka zuku even uncle iroh dont look like they look in the series, the fact that the director said he was making a duplicate of the series..... so should the incredible hulk be red because me as a director thinks that red compliments my city landscapes? i know it sounds stupid but paramount was the one who brought this whole race issue because in the casting they were asking for caucasian actors

  • And what the he'll are you saying mr. Racebending or whoever the he'll you are. Since when did 60's parents come up??? Wtf. of course I probably shuldent of expected any more sense from you, sorry for giving you too much credit.

  • "Gay" meaning it's stupid. nowadays the word is used with that meaning. And I think it's pretty obvious as to why it is used like that. and yes, I am opposed to homosexuality but stray from the topic.

  • Yes and a swastika is just a Tibetan good luck charm. The fact is that the word "gay" is a negative slang word for homosexual. Using the term "gay" to describe a negative event would be like calling our protest a "negro protest" with "negro" meaning stupid.

  • FEAR THE CHAIR!

    LOL Me like this commercial.

  • xD So want a shirt

  • Comment removed

  • You know that's not the principle of the thing right?

  • Somehow you using a homosexual slang in a negative fashion does not surprise us.

Also funny you say that, some of us members grew up or had parents grew up around the Civil Rights of the 60's...and that is also what people told them. Hmmm....

  • We already have.

  • @SkeenBot5000 What the hell is a "gay boycott"? This is about race not sexual preference.

  • But... Hitting them with a chair would be sooo satisfying! ;P

  • ahhh chairey no! Bad chairey! Down! XD

  • Hahaha this is great :)

  • Oh GOD, can I relate to this! When I saw the chair, I'm like WTF?!?!!

    Great job, guys! ^_^

  • The chair bit made me fell out of my chair! XD

Running the YouTube, I can tell you first hand that is how I feel about 90% of the people commenting on here. =P
