I cancelled both accounts not over MT but for being lied to and disregarded because Incarna is clearly designed for high end machines and CCP is basically telling me, upgrade or quit. The MT handwriting has been on the wall since those skill point injections that allowed them to test future functionality. If they can inject skill points, they can inject anything we want to buy. CCP still has failed to address fleet lag
If these items move beyond vanity items... a new player can spend real money and buy "i win lasers" and probably "unbreakable tank" items as well.
sounds shitty.. but I don't see the difference between this and spending real money on PLEX to exchange for ISK and having a fully trained character suddenly appear (ok not suddenly but you know what I mean) on your account.
Sounds to me like Scott Holden is the real instigator...pushing microtransactions to the level we're all raging against. Holden...doesn't sound very Icelandic to me. Sounds more like an American--and we all know how american corporate culture thinks. Or at least we Americans do.
@Mandrak789 Not really. From what I've been seeing, it has actually all been a clusterf### of miscommunication, and the main reason the CSM was called to Iceland seems to be to have it all straightened out what was what and have an actual group of players unassociated with CCP get the straight talk who could then straighten it out for the rest of us. I'd hate to say it, but a GOON was probably our strongest link in these meetings. His after-action report was quite reassuring, for me.
CCP has Lied to their customers time and time again, time after time they have repeated their Lies, and they expect to get away with it, and you know something, they will get away with it, but there will be a price to pay for such dishonesty.
The player base of eve will suffer greatly because of their deceit, it is unfortunate that i have spent so much time and money on this game, because i can see it wont be lasting much longer, there are too many things to talk about what is wrong with eve-O
Anyone who knows eve and understands what has just happened will already know the answer, and that answer will be a resounding YES from CCP.
What you have to realise is that CCP is a corporation, a Business, and they have to make money to sustain what they do, all businesses HAVE only one goal in Life and that is to make money, they really have no other purpose in life.
@AtomRage A company that shits on its customers is a failed company. Capitalism never worked, and will continue to never work, CCP must realise that what they are doing wrong is not saying no to non-vanity items with micro-transactions. It will ruin the game instantly if non-vanity goes into MT, people with loads of money will waste it away, macroers will buy tons of plex to convert to AUR and buy fancy big faction points and lovely new ships, ruining EVE's economy and PvP. They have fucked up.
one of the biggest reason people play games is to get away from RL
this mean some one with a better RL job or live in a richer country is BETTER then the next guy who is more skilled and is more willing to put the time in
yes selling the plex meant you could buy in game money but its better then the RMTers would could also in turn kill this game
from this i could see a type of player base coming out of this i dont want to play with, which you can easily find on XBOX live PS FUCK YOU CCP
Why is it that whenever a player base reacts to outright greedy decisions from the developer (EVE Online or Dragon Age II), the devs' label their consumers "afraid of change" .
EVE Online playerbase "Afraid of change" ? Really ?
Until now, we had only new content added with each *free* expansion. CCP stood out as a mmo dev for going forward in the making of an entire virtual galaxy, ran exclusively by its players. Now they want to destroy it all and we're to just sit and watch, and pay ?
Umm, slight problem with this argument... doesn't the current system that has been in place now for over a year "The buying and selling of Plex" allow players to raise in-game currency that can be used to buy whatever they want.
So how is this going to be any different? Just because it's got a new shiny label on it?
Plex is paid for with "real world currency" the only thing the new currencies have brought in is that micro-plex transactions can be made instead of trading in just absolute Plexes
@Kelrae1 The difference is when you trade a PLEX for ISK, you're trading 30 days of gametime to a player in exchange for ISK they've raised through their own efforts, and if you then use that ISK to buy something, say a battleship and fittings, all those fittings and the hull were all built by players, using minerals mined by players, transported and traded by players.
Giving 15 bucks to CCP in exchange for a battleship delivered to your hangar completely circumvents the entire player economy.
@Fishbreath03 It still gives the player who purchases the currency using plex an ingame advantage and the ability to essentially purchase any items they want through means of real world currency. The argument at the moment seems to be based around players being able to unbalance the game (Specifically pvp vets) by purchasing gear with the new currency, they aready can. The economic implications are a different argument , remember plex is not mined or crafted. It is generated by CCP.
@Kelrae1 You have a point. However, with plex you get a choice of 30-days game time or 380mil isk. As the guy said before, players work up to that money and the ships that are bought are made from players, the isk circulates. If non-vanity was to come into MT there is nowhere for that AUR to go, no player recieves AUR, no player puts the non-vanity item on the NeX. It is one step further and unbalances Eve's award winning (well it was) economy. This is what players don't want.
@ChrisArnol9010 "well it was" would apply if there was, at this very moment, game-changing, non-vanity items available. As it stands, it's still not the case, and the news out of the CSM who went to give CCP a piece of their minds suggests it won't be the case. But, I can't tell you what to do, just as you can't tell me what to do.
Still waiting for the joint statement, but I'm far more optimistic after reading/hearing some relatively positive feedback from the players who serve us on the CSM.
@Kelrae1 You don't seem to understand the heart of the issue. CCP creates the PLEX, yes, but it has value to players, and when it's sold for ISK, it's sold TO ANOTHER PLAYER, for ISK that player has collected. And if it is then SPENT on in-game things, those things it is spent on were also created by another player, rather than poofed in by CCP.
And even without PLEX, $ would still be traded for ISK. RMT would still exist. Does that mean we should give up and go WoT-style pay to win?
Helicity was not pre-emptively banned. He was banned for being a douchebag. He pushes buttons and tries to see how far he can go, how far over the line he can cross. He finally went too far and was banned. Had nothing at all to do with Incarna or Aurum.
Oh look. A bunch of freeloading crybabies complaining about nothing. There are no performance affecting items available now and there haven't been any announced.
So you're complaining about MT in a game that you can play for free, receive expansions for free, and even buy the MT items with in game currency. Classy.
@Reloading78 You apparently didn't read the whole thing, they mentioned ships, ammunition and modules, and even fitting slots... this game is turning into Star Trek Online, which charges you on top of the monthly subscription half the game more of content... and given the prices of the current "micro-transactions" they'll prolly be ridiculous. Freeloading crybabies.. I pay $15 a month, and because I don't want to spend several hundred dollars a month on a freaking game hardly makes me a crybaby
@Reloading78 Eve is subscription based. Which means CCP wants us to pay extra money to stay competitive on top of a hefty, compared to other mmo's, monthly fee.
@richardcnkln That is, of course, your assumption that they want us to pay extra to stay competitive. Based on comments from the CSM, it's not the case. Of course, if you want certainty, wait until the combined announcements and such, but I think the reactions and comments I've read from various CSM members prove what caused the biggest outcry really was a non-issue, and CCP tried to tell us such but we had a hard time believing it, considering what information was available.
Awesome video; really gets to the heart of the matter. I have 2 accounts and have been playing for 3 years. CCP has disappointed me with their lies more than anything else with this release. Before I always felts like we were all in this together, but I don't feel that way anymore. It seems like CCP has been taken over by soulless MBAs or Russian mobsters. Either way, if they keep dumbing down the game or add pay-to-win, I'm gone forever.
wow this video is really good... love the song btw it fits... my actual play time on the game has slowed alot since the release i dont even know if i have anything in my training que... and im not a vet player ive played for about 2 months now and what brought me to the game was the depth of it and how hard and long you had to work to be more powerful..I think i dont play much now is because im unsure if my time is going to be worth it anymore
Greetings, I will make this message brief and to the point, I am not at liberty to divulge much information on behalf of my client, but my client has asked me to extend a hand to any EVE players interested. This involves an opportunity that the said client is attempting to bring loyal, honest and patient members on board. if you are interested contact me at WRVONE1@gmail.com.
I am not an Eve Online player, but I am an MMO gamer, and in this matter, I support my proverbial brothers-in-arms.
It doesn't matter what game you play. Maybe you like WOW, or EQ2, or Eve, or Hello Kitty Online. We're all gamers, and we never like being lied to, or seeing others lie to our peers. CCP has much to answer for, and I hope that the players get the truth, good or bad.
“Let justice reign even if all the rascals in the world should perish from it.”
@Eindrachen Fortunately, CCP has proven, yet again, that they are still and always have been for the gamers with the joint statement released just hours ago, with sections by both the Player-elected Sixth Council of Stellar Management and CCP Games themselves, written at the conclusion of an emergency summit to reaffirm their commitment to their players. I'm rather embarrassed for doubting them, but the concerns were quite valid, considering what looked like the situation.

Welcome to being rendered (mostly) invalid, video. Everybody, read the joint statement and be enlightened.
I kinda feel bad for doubting CCP's commitment, to be honest. They've been one of those 'by gamers, for gamers' sort of companies for ages.

I have an ATI. I get no more heat or stress on my 6870 in Captain's Quarters than I do sitting outside of a station. Just thought I'd mention that.
Not to say people did not have issues- just that they have either been fixed, or just my card is not affected.
