Amazing! I am working on an Arduino based balancing robot. I don't see how you keep the gyro from drifting without an accelerometer. That's a real puzzle to me!
I see you have the rxe file on your site but I can't open it in a text reader and read it. Any chance you can put at text version of it up? Thanks! Keep up the great work! XD
I just bought the IMU, based partly on this video you made. You should get a kickback from Dexter Industries ;-]
So far, I've just done an iterative accelerometer calibration function in NXC, which I'll be happy to share with anyone who's interested.
I would be very interested to see the program for this bot, and even help translate it in return, if you like, into NXT-G or leJos. Let me know. Cheers!
@bain006 Thanks Will! A LeJos and NXC version would be very cool. Right now I'm preparing for a big NXT event, so the online stuff is a bit on hold. But offline... I'm going to program this thing to follow lines :) Shoot me an email in a while so that I can send you the code when it's ready.
That looks like a very stable Segway. Did you use the gyro, the acceleration or both sensors from the IMU in your application? Is the performance comparable to the HiTechnic gyro in your Segway?
@Vuurzoon Currently I'm using only one axis gyro function. Other functions in this sensor could be used for other actions like detecting something it runs into, and avoiding it. But this specific program will work just fine with the HiTechnic Gyro. I'm still working on the code, which I'll eventually release. (Once I get to translate it to NXT-G). I have another Segway "Anyway" video which uses the other gyro sensor.
@ctimesrocker78 They asked me to become one and I am -- But I don't want to bother my subscribing fans with ads :) I add them only to the videos that became small 'hits' - typically the videos the subscribers have seen ages ago anyway - so basically just bothering the non-mindstorms owner who happened to come across :)
When the video was loading I was expecting a lot more wobble. This is amazing!

Excellent work! Best one out there, I think.

Hi Laurens,
