  • Very good, sound advice! And I can relate to the spiritual element that develops when working with Astrology, as I have also come to perceive the planetary archetypes as Gods and Goddesses. I would love to attend a talk by the very gifted and eloquent Richard Tarnas... if only he would come to Australia...

  • addition to comment below:

Can't wait to read Tarnas's book or meet him. There has been far too much superstition and shallow belief creeping into astrology for far too long as well as blanket rejection. It's time for some in depth, mathematical observation.

  • I have been writing a book giving the exact dates of Pluto Uranus angular aspects (as well as others) in history and exact dates of actual events, then stumbled upon Richard Tarnas. Pluto Uranus square will peak in 2012 and afterwards on several dates. I have been going over every Pluto Uranus square, opposition and conjunction for the last 300 years and the revolutionary events in both the eastern and western hemisphere during these periods has been fascinating.

  • To DonsonJack

First of all, whether or not one believes in some sort of mystical attachment to the years surrounding 2012, it is an astronomical, not astrological, fact that the time period just so happens to correspond with the extremely rare alignment of our sun with the galactic center of our home galaxy; an alignment that happens only once every 26,000 years.

  • Can you explain briefly what this alignment between the sun and galactic center is or point us to a site that has illustrations...Thanks very much. I'll be looking on line in the meantime at astronomy sites.

  • Basically the best way I can explain the alignment is that every star in a spiral galaxy, like the one in which we live, is in orbit around a black hole central to the galaxy. The black hole at the center of our galaxy is classified as a "Super-Massive" black hole, which apparently is rather uncommon as far as we can tell (which is agreeably not very much). Anyway, our star's orbit is on a roughly 26,000 year orbit around the central black hole.

  • How a civilization that vanished from the face of our planet over 7,000 years ago understood and centered their very lives on such an event is problematic enough considering the amount of time it took astrophysicist to find any sort of significance with the date, even with extremely advanced technology.

  • In my mind, if the moon is responsible for the cyclic shifts of a womans menstrual cycle, and Jupiters gravitational field operates as a medium for our radios, and that immense flaming sphere of energy at the center of our solar system is responsible for every photon radiating within every one of your strands of DNA,

  • then one would suppose it not to be too farfetched to claim that realigning with the center of a super-massive black hole, an event that modern man has never before experienced ( although geologic records show a major climactic shift on every such occasion), might slightly quake the cosmic energies in a way to create some sort of change in the patterns of human existence.

  • If you ask me, the fact that two highly intelligent organic creatures are capable of having this 'conversation' via 'computer' is proof enough for 'magic' to exist. You ought consider revising your choice of "a deluded mind" as phrase to use when speaking about something that you are obviously completed uneducated about.

  • Also too, if you are referring to Richard Tarnas as having a "deluded mind" then it might be in your best interests to read his books before you go about making yourself look like a fool with another such statement, the man is of rare brilliance. There is a paradigm shift happening right in front of your face my friend, open your eyes and add some more concentrate to the sharp mind of yours.

  • yea.......

  • What is new about astrology? The Mages in China were going over this stuff over 2,000 years ago. It is deterministic Bullshit.

  • if you were to read his book cosmos and the psyche you might be enlightened on the subject. As humanity has taken itself out of the universe viewing it as a materialistic souless entity we damage our psyche. But if you view the universe as an intelligent entity and trow in the events of sychronicity and archapypal influence you start to understand the mysteries it holds.

  • Why you have numbers 2012 in your nickname ?

afaik most astrology disciplines dont recognize such a number having any significance.

I think it takes deluded mind to believe that position of stars effect on your life, it takes a person to willing to believe in magic and mysteries, person who _wants_ to believe.

Therefore you are prepositioned to believe in magical stories.
