Yes, you may hope but will be what will be.....Yagudin was a great wonderfull skater, but he is retired now, and I am sorry for this. The skating world are going on - with or without Alexei.....

They were rivals, at the time, in every sense of the word. They had been for a long time. They have no reason to be rivals now. Alexei won the 2002 title, Evgeni got second. Alexei retired, and Plushenko went on to win in 2006. Why should there be any hard feelings?

Exactly. If they hadn't gotten over it, they would be very petty people. Yagudin has his time, and Plushenko's on his way to becoming one of the greatest Russian figure skaters of all time, even if he just medals in February, and he'll probably win.
