Fred always has such a good time, love his playing! His earlier prowess on the GHB set the standard for many pipers and now his transition into a less traditional style is what keeps piping new!
His formidable prowess on the Highland Pipes gained him honours in the Scottish competition piping circuit (the most exacting in the world), including the gold medals at the world's premier piping competitions at the Northern Meeting in Inverness and the Argyllshire Gathering in Oban, and he has taken the prestigious Macallan trophy at Brittany's Lorient Festival seven times.
plus a whole load of other traditional solo piping awards too numerous to mentio here.
@Brannruz Not a piper? Personally I put Fred at the top of my Piper list talentwise right up there with guys like Carlos Nunez. I have heard him play Highland pipes as well as smallpipes. To be able to play at such speed while maintaining technical accuracy and rhythym is quite a feat. Fred is a piping GOD!
@Brannruz , I have to agree with piperdoon123. Fred has incredible talent. just because he doesn't play competition style piping doesn't mean he is less of a piper. actually, it was the English that started the pipe competitions. the bagpipe is a folk music instrument. with folk music, you can change it around, and mess with the notes and ornaments, but its still the same piece of music.
he must have sold his soul to the devil...
