  • This is freaking bad-ass and really AWESOME artwork of Bald Eagle! I'm VERY OBSESSED with Bald Eagle myself. I have million of Bald Eagle collections. I'm going to start drawing and paint eagle and will post on youtube one day soon. Thanks so much for posted, I have fell in love with ur artwork Bald Eagle!!!! Thanks so much again!!!

  • @Jayjen2830 : ) Thanks so much!! Eagles are awesome creatures!! Please let me know when you post your vids...I'd love to see them. Thanks so much for your encouraging words and feedback! Have a great day! : )

  • Amazing, I use a Wacom Tablet too, but I could never paint like this.

  • @kieranfivestars Hi and thank you very much! I've really benefited from art classes. There are 2 videos on my channel about the school I attend. Look for Declare Success Your Major 1 and 2 if you're interested. Thanks again!

  • im sorry i have 1 question what do you uses to blend, ive looked at smudgeing but i dont like the effect it gives, (overly smudged even when i change the settings or to blurry)

  • @enterusernameplz I generally use the the stock airbrush and work back and forth between the colors I want to blend - selecting colors, shades and tints etc that are in between those I'm blending - working it until there's a smooth transition. Often beginning with a higher opacity brush and reducing it as I make the blend. As you've discovered I've found this produces a more controlled blend than any digital manipulation like the smudge tool. Hope this helps

  • love autodesk...

  • @HackingDutchman Me too...what's not to love! : )

  • holy shit, you got talent dude. hope to be as good as you one day

  • @MarkusSJ94 : ) Thank you very much! Like many things if we just keep working at it we WILL improve! Best wishes with your dreams!

  • ... how... do... you... :O do this?!?! Gawd, it's like going to a museum to see magnificent things. O_O

  • @KCPixie08 Thank you for the high praise!! : ) I really appreciate it. A few years ago I started taking classes at a nearby community college. First for digital art like 3D and Photoshop etc. Then I found out they had a really good traditional art program where I learned the fundamentals of art design, color theory, painting & life drawing etc. All that has helped me tremedously. I've posted 2 videos about the school on my channel. Please check 'em out if you have time. Thanks again!

  • love how you focus on the eye and keep it sharp. but the feathers background etc have a slight blur.

  • @jesman1985 Thank you very much! Glad to get your good feedback! : )

  • Wow, I thought that was a real eagle. Nice.

  • @fableowns Thanks so much! : ) I appreciate it!

  • sketchbook has the easiest interface, i still prefer it compared to painter 12

  • @swiv2d Yeah...that's what I've found too! : ) Haven't messed much with any of the Painter versions but have begun experimenting with painting in Photoshop.

  • sir the way you use your mouse is really good

  • @jtrigoura1 Sorry I'm so late with a reply. Thanks so much! Quite a while ago I did use a mouse to draw with...but I now use a Wacom Tablet...which is a lot like drawing with a pencil or paint brush. Thanks again!

  • i get soooo jealous watching you do that!! also took a look at your website! so talented!!!

  • @moomisscowtoyou Thank you so much for taking a look, for the good words about the video and my website! I appreciate it! It's great to get good feedback! : )

  • stunning

  • @kingcorvette427 Thanks!

  • @clairlabolle Hi. I generally give myself a base color to start, rather than white "canvas". Then sketch in whatever I plan to "paint". Then work up from dark to light. Shadows & plains roughed in 1st & then brighter & brighter colors adding detail. Highlights are usually last. This is the ideal but I often break these rules as you see in the vid. I've found the tablet to be relatively problem free. Although it may take some practice when looking at the screen on drawing on the tablet.

  • That's awesome!

  • @AnotherSchmoe Thank you! : )

  • What did use to paint it, i mean what tool, brush, airbrush? what tool exactly, i would really appreciate it, Thanks and great painting

  • @kevino025 Hi Kevin. Thanks! Yes I use mostly the stock airbrush 99% of the time or my own custom version of Sketchbook Pro's airbrush mostly when I want to work VERY small . I keep the opacity very low, usually around 11% but as you might see in the video vary the size and color endlessly. : )

  • how long did it take you to draw/paint that well?

  • @bigapplezpengu I've been cartooning and sketching just for my own enjoyment for many years...and it was all pretty basic. But in 2005 or so I started taking art classes at a nearby community college and I have applied myself and really learned a lot. You can see a lot of my art work at my site: Jephyr dot com

    Ciao! : )

  • @bigapplezpengu Oh...forgot to say Thank you!

  • SO MUCH DETAIL *explodes*

  • @paclac1337 Wow! Thank you!

  • nice. Thanks for sharing. I don't know why but I miss the blu sky in the bakground.

    Well painted, thumb up!

  • @mssfldt Thanks! Yeah...I used a photo for reference and it was against a similar muted background. : ) Thanks for watching!

  • amazing! How long did it take for you?=)

  • @MrMaybeimdreaming100 Thanks so much! It's been a whikle but I think it took under two hours start to finish. Thanks again : )

  • @JephyrX wow under 2 hours that's incredible!

  • yes sir , thats what i call inspiration right there

  • @mistagrafix Thanks! Much appreciated! : )

  • It looks so much like a photograph! *blinks*

  • @AFox2Sly Thanks!

  • exelente

  • @damianfausto gracias! : )

  • i´m speechless. really really good!

  • @tank981 Thank you for a very motivating comment! Much appreciated! : )

  • Is this from a photo? I actually have a photograph of an eagle that looks exactly like this.

  • @fiyrdragon5 Hi, Yes I found it on-line and liked it a lot. I'll try to find it again and post a link in the description. Thanks for looking in.

  • How is that humanly possible? You must be an android or something!

  • @Mordorat95 hahaha Thanks for the great comment!

  • just amazing. looks awesome

  • @Turribleproductions Wow! Thank you so much!

  • How does this only have 55 comments? It's at the top of the page when you Google "speed paint".

  • @DelaPhoenixFlaym Quality over quantity maybe? : ) Glad to hear it's ranked well. Thanks for looking in and commenting!

  • awsome!!

  • @sharaaxkiinomoto Thanks so much!

  • it looks like a picture!

  • @Nolimitsfan : ) Thank you!

  • NICE

  • @Dawni32 Thanks!

  • I wish i could just add a bunch of shapes together and make a painting. Saddly other than musically (i play the guitar) and mechanically (build hot rods) i have the artistic ability of a rock.

  • @salemcripple haha Well you have one on me for sure, I am completely non-mechanical! Thanks for looking in!

  • good video and good music

  • @dromerz Thanks!!

  • whoa

  • : ) Thanks for checking it out!

  • Awsome i can't believe it was a speed painting it looks like it took hours

  • Thank you! : )

  • im planning on buying a Wacom tablet, which one do u think is the best? WACOM INTUOS4 WIRELESS or just WACOM INTUOS4??

  • I didn't know there was a wireless version. Sounds very cool though! Because even though the INTUOS has a generous cord I sometimes find myself dragging it around or getting it tangled up. So if money isn't a concern, I'd go wireless.

  • Ok, thanx for the adivse! X3 i also thought that wireless was cooler but i dont think u can plug it into the computer then :s

  • Very telented. Great video and illustration. Simply beautiful.

  • Thank you very much! I checked out your Michael Jackson Tribute Poem video...very moving. Your site is cool too!

    Thanks again!

  • Amazing dude. It looks so realistic!

  • Thank you so much Patrick!!

  • hey great vid!! can you scan and trace line work in sketchbook to color like you can in photoshop?

  • Almost real time here. : )

Yes, Sketchbook handles most file types including PSD, jpeg etc. You can't scan directly into SB, but there is an "add image" option.

SB uses layers and is similar to Photoshop. So put the image on a layer, adjust opacity, and trace away.

BTW, there is a new SB version out with expanded features. Check it out.

  • Thanks too!

  • One more thang: Unless the newest version of SB has more layer features, it doesn't have "multiply" and "color" layer options. I'm experimenting with that in PS right now myself.

  • @JephyrX cool!I just got a wacom tablet and your vid inspired me. I've been drawing for yrs and want to take on the graphics world. i need an alternate to photoshop because it's too much 4 me right now expense wise lol. did it take you long to learn this program and using a tablet?

  • just ordered my intuos 4 and sketchbook pro 2010! it is now time to expand my art to the computer

  • Ahh! The fun begins! : )

  • OH YES

  • : )

  • hey be encouraged, thats awesome

  • Thank you!

  • Fantastic drawing & video, this certainly helps me as a new Intuos 4 user and inspires me. TFS

  • Thank you very much! : ) I've been inpired by so many here too...glad if I can do the same!! Hope you enjoy your Intuos as much as I do!

  • Amazin drawing skills. Would you recomend this package for studying graphic design?

  • Thank you!! I'd say it's one that could be used for GD...at least from the drawing and "painting" end. Sketchbook Pro is improving, adding features and may someday reach this status...but the industry tends to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Many Digital Painters also use Painter 11. Thanks again!

  • how long did it take for you to learn how to use that software and hardware

  • I think by the time I made this video I'd had the software and hardware about a year and had been working with it off and on. But around the time I made this video I'd been using the software daily, for hours at a time, for 3 weeks or so and was starting to feel like I was "getting" it. : )

    Thanks for checkig it out!

  • sped up a lil, but still amazing

  • Thank you very much!

Yeah, I didn't time myself...but I'm sure this took at least an hour to paint. Cam Studio compressed it into what you see in the video.

    Thanks again!

  • That's sick! you are very good :) wish i could draw like that .P

  • Thanks for that! Keeps me motivated to work even harder!

  • Thank you! Appreciate that! : )

  • WOW! thats Unreal!!! GREAT JOB!!!

  • you are the man

  • Thank you sir (but I believe YOU are the man!)

    : )

  • AWESOME, watching these speed paintings gets me inspired lol

  • Thanks! Me too...I've learned a lot...and gotten very inspired too...from watching all the different speed drawings and paintings here on YouTube!

  • wow man that is really good and well done, great job dude :D

  • Thank you!

  • Nice work JephyrX, Looks great! I've been looking into buying a tablet with more pressure sensitivity to it (mine only has 500 and something levels). Have you tried other tablets that have different sensitivities, and do you think it makes much of a difference? The tablet I have now is my first, which I bought because I wanted to see if I'd like it. I'd never go back to a mouse when drawing now, lol.

  • Thanks sos! Yeah...you can NEVER go back!!! : )

If you want to draw subtle gradients...or like to draw with a very light touch...you will probably notice the difference between 512 and 1024.

I've heard good things about the VisaTablet: which is affordable ($130.00 (us) or less if you'r a student) and it's 1024.

    Thanks again!

  • is Sketchbook Pro free?

  • No...but it's affordable...under $100.00 (US)

  • If you're absolutely in need of a free program (or one that costs next to nothing) that works in a similar way, you should try out ArtRage. The free version allows you to use most of the more important tools, but locks the layers on you. But the full version only costs $25, so it's not like it'll put you in debt to buy it. One of the best programs I ever bought.

  • True sos! i have ArtRage too...just haven't put as much time into learning. But it's a good program...with lots of cool tools. ie: I really love the pencil for drawing. It looks very real!

  • looks so real! do you paint in real life to??

  • Thanks! Yes a bit. I'm taking art classes and used a lot of what I've learned in this video.

If you wanna see more of my paintings, drawings, videos and digital art

please check out my site: JeffCurtisArt (dot) com

    or

    JephyrX (dot) com

    Thanks again!

  • ahh... ok, cool! thanks

  • yw : )

  • Hoh mai!

  • Thanks! : )

  • What type of Wacom tabled do you use? How many dpi is for painting usable? And thx for nice vid 5/5

  • Thanks!

I use the Wacom Intuos 6 x 8. I tried the 9 x 11 but it was WAY too big!!

The Intuos has very nice touch sensitivity @ 1024 pressure levels. Bamboo is HALF that.

I used the default resolution of 100 pix/inch.

    Thanks again

  • wow! cool!

what is this for a programm? photoshop cs 3???

  • Thanks!

I have Photoshop...and you can use it to produce this kind of image.

But I used Alias Sketchbook Pro software which is very cool. It doesn't have all the filters and advanced image manipulation etc that Photoshop has. But it's very easy to use AND you can find a student version of it for under $100.00 (US).

  • Also, nice job on it, it looks very COOL! =) 5/5 rating

  • Thanks much! : )

  • Long time you made a video huh?
