I'm only watching #1 because I like your stuff #2 because this chick really has the ears of the younger crowd. They're playing this everywhere I go here in South Florida. Can't see why, but at least she really can sing.
@powergirl901 Yea, I've only heard this one song from her. But like I say in the description, this song got under my skin and if you've ever read how this song was recorded, you'll know why, it's the real deal. It's got heart and soul and a 60s classic kind of vibe to it. As always, thanks much for watching my stuff.
Great cover as usual!....Just wondering do you have plans to get another acoustic drum set to play around on? I have a acoustic kit but wish I had kept my Roland td3 kit, especially when it comes to recording.
@Rimshot247 I never got rid of my acoustic sets: a Pearl Custom Session and a Gretsch Catalina Elite. I also play 2 different types of Yamaha kits and a Mapex kit at my work at the church.
BTW: saw your cover of Jackie Blue, pretty good, you had the groove. I think you and I have the only drum covers of that one on YT. Keep drumming!
While learning this song for our band, I watched Adele's drummer doing accents on the OFF-BEATS on the hats. Check it out. This song is not as easy as most think. I also end up doing clap triggers from my kit too. Keep them coming as I enjoy your covers.
@Videditor1067 Essentially it's a simple basic groove, but there are a number ways this groove could be embellished and made more complex, however, that would be what I, and some other drummers I've seen who cover songs on YT refer to as "non-essentials". Yes, I've seen a live version with Adele's band and the drummer played some interesting fills between the beats while keeping it in-the-pocket. Thank you for your encouragement and appreciate you watching my videos.
@rhythmantic No disrespect... I understand artistic license. I am just more of a detail type person. "Non-essentials" to me are just an easy way for many of those YT folks to put out a ton of videos playing a basic 2/4 beat. I have watched & learned from many of your videos, so thank you!
If I spend my time watching someone doing a cover, my hope is that they put everything into it too make it perfect with artistic flare. Anyway THANKS for the discussion... all is good.
@rhythmantic had to watch it yet again, getting my first set of drums, being delivered this week. I'm 45 years young and I have never played before so hoping to teach myself........................lol
@stitchontime Very good, I picked up the guitar at 45, it's never to too late to start playing a musical instrument. I hope you use my videos to learn drums.
@stitchontime BTW: I heard your version on FB (couldn't find it after I went back to comment, FB is really bad for finding stuff) you played it in the pocket, pretty good for someone who is new to drumming. Keep playing.
@Lmay75 Well you can, there's a video of me jamming to some loops, and another of a drum solo for the XLN audio drum competition. You could find it on my channel page.
Great contemporary song pick Sal. Good ones like this don't come along as much these days. She is quite a singer and you are right about the R&B/rock vibe. Very nice drumming asa lways Sal.....Nick
Omy god! That is funny!!! We just added this to our play list last Tuesday!!!! You are the man!!! I looked for this song, but did not see it last week, and now it is here!!! You Rock!!!!
@drummermikeondrums Thank you very much for sharing, it's one thing to really enjoy the work I do, but that it serves others like yourself, that's a real blessing & I'm very thankful for it. Thank you for sharing. Yes, God willing, I will continue w/my obsession of playing covers and if there is anything I could help with in your pursuit of drumming, please let me know. Thanks for watching.
What drum sticks do you use? I've used 7A's forever but my hands are getting bigger and I'm starting to feel the grip near the back of the stick is getting loose.
@Maclolp Thanks so much for watching my videos. I usually favor the Jo Jo Mayer model from Vic Firth. It's shorter than most but is meaty enough to get a good grip but light enough due to being made of maple. I also use Remo Rock's & 5A's.
I have Vic Firth AS5A's and I really like them! I used Hickory 2B's forever because heavier sticks are so much more common among metal drummers but I've realized I can move faster and easier with a lighter stick. Plus it just feels so fluid with the lighter sticks. Also I'm buying a Yamaha DTXpress II electronic kit and I was wondering if there is a preference stick for electronic drum kits?
@FadingSkylight Thanks. You mean like some of those prog-rock-metal drummers I've seen covering this song? My aggression is in the groove. It's about the singer & the song, not the drummer who just lays down a carpet of deep-pocket groove for the vocalist. Thanks for watching, appreciate it.
@rhythmantic adele has an amazing voice, and on this track, i love the backing singers too - once again, you manage to produce another dynamic cover with soul - it's a track i'm considering covering too as I think i'll find it a good challenge for as you say laying down a carpet of deep-pocket groove :-)
