How Small Guys Beat GIANTS in BJJ

    MicroBJJ (dot) com"

  • Fake...black belt wouldn't follow to the ground after a fail double leg takedown...

  • It's all in the rules of the match. BJJ player vs. Judo player in a BJJ match, the BJJ player wins, what did you expect? And yes Judo players have some ground game as well, but that is not their focus. If you watch any Olympic level Judo matches, players rarely spend any time on the ground at all.

  • In judo you dont really start learning submissions before black belt, sankaku jime and ude gatame are pro moves in Judo, and standard in Bjj, more often than not a lower rank judo player will be defeated by a low rank bjj player

  • @mauska2 huh are you kidding me sankaku Jime is the most used sub by juniors under 17 in judo tourneys because they can't arm bar so they use sankaku?

  • Judo kid f*ed up from the begining. He handed himself for an arm lock.

  • The reason the judo blackbelt is wearing a white belt is because this was a bjj competition, and his rank in bjj would be white. If this were a judo competition, the bjj blue belt would be wearing a white belt because that would be his rank in judo.

  • He celebrates as if it had finalized a flat black, sucker...

  • meh a white belt nothing to be fkin proud of!!

  • the black belt looks very white to me!!!!!!

  • that call mmmmmmmmmmAAAAAA

  • JUDO is the best end fucking of!.

  • faixa branca o cara deu o braço quer o que

  • These videos prove nothing except one person triumphed. Ju-Jutsu, Judo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are the same family. It's not a matter of one being best. It's how you train and who you train with. If a Judo player doesn't train in all forms of waza including those banned in competition then they may excel at Sport Judo but lose in submission grappling via BJJ rules. The same logic applies to a BJJ student competing in a Sport Judo tournament. Enjoy what you do and keep an open mind.

  • This was originally the reason for the pursuit of scientific approach to find a reasonable explanation for the facts mentioned below (Main subject here is the knowledge of fighting with empty hands) Conclusion: “As a sport activity Martial Arts aren't real” so only the military men know better this hidden truth. e.g. They’ll never smash the opponents throat, break a leg, neck bones or blind a fellow during a sport competition and of course just because It’s not a valid strategy.

  • I don't understand the gratification in one martial art style beating another. I don't believe there is one perfect martial art and it's plain to see when you watch MMA. If a fighter goes in thinking he's going to stay true to one art, he's finished. How many of the current champs are strictly BJJ? So what he beat a judo guy.

  • Very smooth and fast technique. Thanks for sharing!

  • i love all forms of martial arts. they do have there strenght and weakness

  • i mixed both judo and wrestling together..my armlocks and sweep when im in a tie up the a duck under follow by a grand slam .works evey thing.or a ankle pick with a full round sweep.

  • Agree with above comment, I cant take my Wing Chun sash to a wrestling meet and expect to win...its not my game. Now a striking battle...i will happily accept as i hold the advantages.

  • GANHOU DE FAIXA BRANCA???????????????????????

  • OMG one person defeated another person at grappling. Enough with the fanboys, enough with the dick measuring. I'm tired of shallow YouTubers who would rather battle on the internet than on the mat.

Mad respect to all Martial Artists, and remember that your own path is more important than any "style!"

  • @RobValentine is right in his comment below. It's foolish to compare BJJ against Judo because the root of BJJ is Nihon Kosen Judo! I've been a judo man since 1968. Every BJJ technique as a name in Judo. I actually enjoy BJJ more than judo because it's constantly evolving while judo is stuck in tradition.

  • Been training hard at both Jujitsu and Judo, both challenge me in different ways. I think people should cross train with Jujitsu and Judo.

  • @R0bertValentinefilms totally agree with you i have been studying martial arts for approx 10 years and believe no one martial art is better than another they all have their strengths and weakness's, so its best to study a few to get a good all round ability

  • @R0bertValentinefilms why would you train with judo and bjj/jjj? why wouldnt you do ground and standup rather than ground and ground.

  • Ok, I have come to the conclusion Jujitsu and Judo are both FAB! I love them

    Both.

  • congratulations, you submitted a white belt....

  • @meltona, In competition, people do not wear their actual belt rank. Each person is assigned a color (white or blue) and they wear that belt in the match. There is a blue side of the mat, and a white side of the mat where they stand to begin and end.

  • @meltona Haha...the colored belts during the match is to help determine which side they are on so to give refs easier way to tell who is who in keeping score.

  • Say what you like but when I come off the Matt after Judo training I feel like a fighter, but sadly after I come away from JuJitsu training I feel like I have just been "walking through" moves. Apologies for feeling this way, I suppose JuJitsu just does not float my boat. We are all different :)

  • @R0bertValentinefilms Or you go to a lesser school, I feel beaten at the end of my training.

  • @Deilgyre Sadly typical of the sport and its representatives.

  • damn this video got me amped!! WAR JIU JITSU!!!

  • What a humble winner.

    Not.

  • @ThadeoftheNorse i know a guy that has taken judo for a long time. when looking at him, youd think he was a pussy because he just doesnt look that tough. ive seen him fight. i havent seen him lose. this is in street fights, not a fight in a ring.

  • Neither will you ever see the TOP BJJ fighter beat an Olympic Judoka! Practicing Jujitsu moves for 3 years and getting a black teaches you nothing about fighting! Get your black belt in Judo and fight for the right to wear the black belt as Kata's and sparing mean JACK SHIT!

  • @R0bertValentinefilms what jj takes 3 years for a black? try like 8 to 10 my man. judo is great and bjj. but dont put bullshit up like that please

  • @buddhabastard BJ Penn got his in 3 and Maia in 4 and a half yrs but these are exceptional BJJ players I think now there is a minimum amount of time at each grade now tho. I think maybe he's on about the line up in Judo for your dan grades where u have to beat 3 Judokas of the same grade as you in a row after having 2 qualifying matches so u must beat 5 in the same grading.

  • @Jimmynable It's not just a function of how long a person trains, but how much.

An average student, with a nine to five job, will take longer than a person who trains full time. BJ Penn got his after INTENSE training over those three years.

  • @SterlingArcherify The IBJJF now has a minimum requirement of 2 years blue to purple, 1 and a half years purple to brown and a year brown to black. Obviously u will get to the standard quicker the more u train but given that it usually takes between 6 months to two years to get your blue belt it's impossible to get your black belt in under 5 years thru the IBJJF, unless u can get it thru another ruling body I don't know tho.

  • how come i see a white belt instead of black.lol

  • @fresnomenace301 read the top comment.

  • I'm a black belt in Judo and yellow belt in bjj and I like Jiu-jitsu a little better. Every school is different but it seems like my teacher and my Bjj class mates are more aggressive. And coming from a wrestling back ground and a street fighter background BJJ seems more realistic. But I love judo!

  • @gungfu777 No offense dude but how r u a yellow belt in BJJ? As far as I'm aware yellow belt in BJJ is a kid's grade.

  • @Jimmynable Yellow just means you've been training for a short amount of time. Sometimes students grasp the concepts fast. Ask any fighter, the belt doesn't win the fight, the person does.

  • @asquadjoey Yes yellow in Judo does. To my knowledge at senior level BJJ the belts are white, blue, purple, brown and black, with black and red and then red belt being honorary grades.

  • i know not to learn judo in jordan lol, there is still groundwork in judo, in this instance he had given him his arm..

  • Two different sports, with much different rules, despite the fact that they share an origin. Much respect to the art of BJJ, and i even train in it as well as judo, but what I've noticed is that BJJ has lost some of the aspects of respect that's been a part of each martial art forever. Even jiu jiutsu guys that aren't that great get a huge ego for some reason (at least where I've been). I can only hope it isn't like that everywhere.

  • Its not uncommon for Black Belts to lose since majority of the times they are teaching rather then training!

Respect them for what they know and mastered!

    Their teachers! not competitors!!!

  • @rettek808 all 'good' bjj guys have an emphasis in learning judo as well as bjj for the take-downs, but to win a bjj competition you only really need to have good ground skills. If your talking about learning bjj from a self defence/mma perspective then that's why MOST fighters train in multiple combat sports. Anyone who wants to succeed in this area needs a)good take downs b)good ground fighting skills. street fight, different game alltogether - stamp on your head until game over, so get away

  • @tedguk

There is 1 way to win in BJJ comp if your just a wrestler or stand up judoka.. Do throws and score points then bring the fight back up..

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE Or if ur a Judoka with gd ne waza u cud try and get the submission straight after a throw while u have the dominant position. Thats the big difference between the two Judokas aren't bothered about ground positions because they will mostly likely be in position during ne waza in Judo comp and BJJ players aren't too bothered about throws because both guys want the fight on the ground anyway. I'd like to see throws scoring big points and subs the only way to finish matches.

  • @Jimmynable

And we see those 20% out of the world.. cause 80% are way to fix on Olympics.

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE There has been a few Olympians who r beasts on the ground tho like Jimmy Pedro, Mike Swain, Yamashita and ofc Yoshida who could all more than hold their own against the majority of BJJ black belts but ye most high level Judokas don't worry too much about ground skills but if ur gna compete in BJJ comps u really should be training a lot of ne waza.

  • very few judoka could hope to compete with a jujitsu player of similar experience on in newaza.

very bad etiquette to celebrate like that straight after the win as well.

  • you know after a celebration like that i bet any judoka would like to drop him on his head in a judo match

  • u guys who are disin jiu jitsu probably never had a life and just sit around the house trying to imatejackie chan and eat marshmellows u big fatties GET A LIFE

  • Jiu jitsu guys really like to hug eachother when they win. I guess they are used to grabbing men.

  • that was ab ippon?? xD

  • I used to automatically take the black people's side where racism is concerned like all former liberals until they called me a racist. Then, I took the side that one should look at racism from all angles not just the angle that benefits black interests the most.

  • Wow, that is BAD sportsman-like conduct! So what you beat a white belt in BJJ and you are a blue belt. If it was a Judo tournament then you would have a reason to celebrate, which I wouldn't suggest doing it the way you did in this video. So much for humility.

  • /watch?v=9pwMnKNNuDM&feature=related

  • thats why you dont go for shit inside the guard, typical judo player

  • If that guy is a Judo BB he needs shot, no Judo BB player I know would fall for that!

  • jiujitsu pple are weird, judo pple r cool and respectful.

  • jiujitsu pple are weird

  • Is this done by Judo rules or BJJ rules?

  • HAHAHAHA! The people who say it's gay.. I dare you I fucking dare your ass to go to a judo or jiu jitsu gym and see if u leave without gettin an arm/leg broken or choked out jahaja

  • This must be an old competition. Currently, grabbing the legs in competition is banned to prevent tackles - like which happens in this video - and to focus more on actual throwing technique.

  • Jeeze, if he wanted to hump the guy, there's an etiquette to that . . . . stand up and fight like a man already.

  • @myslimakastreetfight troll lol

  • That dude isn't Judo. I've only been a Judoka for 9 months, and even I know not to cross my feet like this supposed Judo guy did about four or five times. "When the feet are together, you become a broom standing on its handle, bristles up first, waiting to be knocked over."- Riki Sensei, Riki Dojo USA.

  • @noose357

You're absolutely right, his posture is terrible too.

  • @asmitty1979 Yes, no real black belt would ever take a stance like that, even in a bjj contest.

  • Both of them look like wrestlers at the begining? In Judo you are tought not to go low and stay prefferably above the oponent

  • Mr. Bean is better than both fighters!!!!! Give a look in the video "Mr bean and judo"

  • @salvorhardim how fuckin funny where he rolls him up in the mat!

  • if this guy is black belt, his master teacher and him should come back to the blue belt.

  • Mitsuyo Maeda was 7th dan judo! He taught the gracie judo before 1925 it was Kano jiu jitsu!

  • Aí, gringo, o cara ´tá usando uma faixa branca porque é um torneiro, eles dão uma faixa branca pra um e uma vermelha ou azul pro outro, isso é pros juizes diferenciarem os lutadores.

In resume, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is the more complete marcial art in all world!

  • fuck bjj. i decimate you fuckers with judo. because not only am i a brown in judo but a second brown in japanese ju-jitsu under usja. you bjj queers do one thing, pull guard everytime. so in a judo tourny i slam you on your stupid fucking head, BUT !!! in a bjj tourny its illegal. i get dq'd. but i still slam you on your stupid fucking head. i hate you faggots always tryin to pull guard. so i'll do it every time.

  • @lildeezul2 COMPLETELY AGREE 100%

  • @lildeezul2

You sir sound like a man who is not secure with his own sexuality. I mean how many times can ya call a man a faggot or queer in the same run on sentence? Id be pissed to, because everyone knows that Jiu Jitsu players get all the bitches. I also roll Judo and I love to watch Judo players piss and moan, because their ground work sucks. So stop crying and work on the ground skills! I prefer Jiu Jitsu, but I like Judo as well. Stop trying to start beefs.

  • you suck what ? you say judo players ground skills suck ? well your bjj stand up skills suck. thats why you pull guard right from haijime. i have no problem with you pulling guard at a bjj tourny, but not a judo tourny. when you come to a judo tournament the emphasis is suppose to be on throwing first, then ground skills second. what i moan about is bjj players showin up with absolutely no judo throwing skills at all and pulling guard right away and winning via submission and not ippon.

  • @lildeezul2

My stand up is actually good. I've wrestled nearly half my life. I take Judo to see the throwing aspect. If it's such a problem than the Judo federations will change it. They have never had a problem changing the Judo rules before. I try not to get into the Jiu Jitsu vs Judo or Gi vs No Gi beefs, but ya said some bogus shit. Not all Jiu Jitsu guys have shitty stand up. Most of the great guys down in Brasil started Judo and then went to Jiu Jitsu.

  • @lildeezul2 Look Judoka's are and will always be inherently worse on the ground than BJJ guys, simply because they focus so much on throws as opposed to working on the ground. That is a fact and will not change unless the focus of Judo changes, and then it might as well be BJJ. I believe that all BJJ guys should have at least a little Judo to be more well rounded, but it doesn't matter how good you are at throws if you get submitted every time you do one.

  • @lildeezul2 all because bbj fighters use guards doesn't mean they suck. That's like saying 'BBJ fighters suck because they use takedowns' i mean, WTF?? guards are just a part of BBJ.

  • @OhldSkewlTV i never said they suck. i explained earlier.

  • @OhldSkewlTV Kimura Masahiko beated gracie

  • @bushidoartss Yes hours later and out weighed him by 70 pounds

  • @lildeezul2

Hahahahah.... that was a great comment and I agree.. I am a Judoka and for the first time went to a BJJ Tournament.. ( the 2011 Abu Dhabi CHampionships in San DIego) and I have to tell u I was BORED out of my mind... All these guys did was pull guard, and try to get out of guard and try to get a side mount and stay there until match was over and thats how they would win.... IT WAS A JOKE !!!! just go to any Judo tournament and u see ACTION!!!

  • dumbass its called inverted armbar pfft scrub

  • He's probably wearing a white belt because it's a BJJ competition. You don't wear your belt from one sport in another. He may be a Judoka black belt but unfamiliar with BJJ (thus the white belt I suppose). Odd on the ground though. Judoka would normally try to control the legs and not put their arms out front to be locked. This arm-lock is also standard Judo. Who knows. Pretty basic and clean groundwork from the BJJ gent.

  • @Chuikov23 judo and bjj arnt that far apart, the only diffrence is one does more throws and the other on the ground but other then that flying arm bars knee bars ect. pretty much will be the same.

  • @zzrob he has a white belt cause in judo, when both have a coat with the same color, one guys put a white belt and the other put a blue one... but even if he is black belt it just mean that he has experience

  • i couldnt quite tell how he won but it looked painful what ever he was pulling on..

  • lmao he run right in his guard C`mon son he aint a Judo black belt

  • settle down

  • it'´s easy to see that the white belt is not an experienced judoka, maybe he practiced judo few years but his level is not high

  • bad reffing

  • i didn't get why he won :D but it actually looks funny

  • @IEnnaGyI he was about to break his hand into two it's painful ya know

  • one sick move their :D

  • In Judo rules atack to legs is shido (only contra or combo with other techniques, for example ouchi-gari) so this movie don't say anything about jiu-jitsu or judo. Sorry for my english ;)

  • @LukaWarsPL

Actually these days it would be straight disqualification in judo, as there are no direct leg grabs allowed. The BJJ guy comes in for a lame Marote-gari only to go to ground (which is also not allowed). However, this is not a judo contest evidently as there is no true Judo etiquette, and the BJJ snapped on a very strong juji-gatami armlock so evidently won this MMA style contest fair and square. Just because they are not bare chested and wearing ridiculous shorts it is still MMA.

  • @at1lley I agree completely. Pulling guard is also no longer allowed in Judo either. The shoot was a weak attempt to disguise his intent to pull guard.

  • kkk judo pq é judo jiu-joitsu maladro ´pe tudo

  • Nice work, but how is the judoka a black belt?

  • wow!

  • are you retarded?? Its an INDIVIDUAL sport anything can happen.. and yes BJJ uses many techniques from judo. they have alot of similarities... BJJ is just more on the ground, judo is more standup. Thats why you see more BJJ guys submitting judo guys than judo guys submitting BJJ guys.. on the other hand you see more judo guys thowing BJJ guys than BJJ guys throwing judo guys.

  • @000Nikke It's mostly the dojo you train in, my dojo focuses mostly on ground work though we do have some of the best stand up guys in the world.

  • @day break79 i agree 100 percent plus.. i have have a black belk and i dont get many problems from puple belts.. u said it best.. SANDBAGER.. BJJ (BASICALLY JUST JUDO)

  • @foolbehave for you and daybreak79: i do think you've never really met a BJJ blue belt nor a purple....I would have met you on the mat at this time.....sure we could have fun!!!

  • @foolbehave: there some great blue and purple out there and u might be one of them. im just saying i wrestle with them ALL the time. either this guy judo sucks or BJJ ( Basically Just Judo) is a sandbagger. AND ITS JUST MY OPINON.. its all love either way! gives us something to debate...

  • I call BS....I have my black belt in Judo and I have NEVER had a problem submitting a blue belt in BJJ...SANDBAG!!

  • Awesome vid, keep em comin. Just posted a similar vid, check it out.

I train at one of the gracie headquarters in florida

  • judo practitioners usually arent very good at submissions compared to jiu-jitsu practitioners....but thumbs up for both.....i love tourneys...

  • Arm Bar Not arm Lock :P

  • looks like a white belt to me.

  • Am I the only one who wanted him to pick him up and start swinging him at 0:18?

  • @Datleco That would have been great, breaking his own arm in .3 seconds by flinging Mirza around whie still being held in his armlock.

  • @trentdelasario The faster you spin him without losing focus and your own grip, they'll most likely lose their hold on you, the slightest change in pressure can mean everything.

  • bjj and judo are practicly the same except judo focuses on takedowns and bjj focuses on submissions

  • no need to celebrate like that.

  • no bragging rights for BJJ guy beating Judo guy in BJJ rules just as no bragging rights for Judo guy beating BJJ guy in Judo rules.

  • I think it's all good. But if anyone is gonna brag about beating a black belt Judoka, you should have thrown his ass too,LOL. You beat him in what you're good at and it's obvious it's not his strength being a Kodokan Judoka. You're supposed to beat the Judoka, right? Compete against higher level free style Judoka, and it's a different ball game.... If BJJ blue belt or Black belt competed in a Judo tournament, BJJ guy prolly not good chance of winning by throw. It's no duh, not his strength.

  • Why does this video claim this judoka has a black belt, and he's obviously wearing a white belt?! This blue belt in jiujitsu beat a white belt.....big deal!! He should compete against a judoka that actually has a black belt!

  • The Judoka picked the blue belt completely off the ground before the tap. Were these not judo rules? The lift would have ended that exchange.

  • The Judoka picked the blue belt completely off the ground before the tap. Were these not judo rules? The lift would have ended that exchange.

  • in judo, it is not allowed to grap the legs, so the judoka wasnt prepaired for the first ATTACK

  • @KleinUndBlau LOL @ this. Judo has beern allowed leg attacks for YEARS. It is only recently. The reality is that Judo has always had problems defending wrestling style takedowns. The reality is that Judo has very SLOPPY guard work. I have wrestled Judo black belts for years and have submitted almost all of them, even as a white belt. Judo ground grappling performed very well by some, and really sloppy by most. This guy had little clue. FACT: His years of Judo were USELESS against a BJJer.

  • @LardInATubeSock It's the fighter not the art that determines effectivness. I have thrown and submitted many wrestlers and bjj palyers. Freestyle, greco, bjj whatever. I'm a brown belt in judo and my best fights are with bjj brown and black belts. I'm not going to say Judo owns all. But I can put up a fight and I credit that to judo.

  • @RagingDemon89 I did Judo for years as weel. Th reality is that before the UFC came out most judoka had sloppy groundwork. I trained at over 30 Judo schools including one "bigger" school and ALL of the schools has very "basic" groundwork. Sure there might've been one or two good guys but I submitted almost all Judoka I trained with, including most black belts. I am average at best. They sdid not have the technical knowledge. Modern Judoka have primarily learned "ne waza" from BJJ not Judo.

  • @LardInATubeSock I guess it depends where you train. My Sensei's have taught good ne waza. One is from russia and was a national champion in sambo and the other straight from Japan. I get the best of both worlds with no credit to bjj. I dont know. Pulling guard is not my ideal way of fighting.

  • Wow you got a really lame guy into the guard. Good job.

  • Douchey celebration if I've ever seen one.

  • @Fizzeewater Brazilians are like that man. They get heated, just because it's douchey in your country and by your customs doesn't mean it is there. There the competition is healthy instead of aggressive and they see it as if your opponent cheers a lot he must think beating you was a HUGE feat. Which in this case a blue belt pwning a black belt it is

  • There's no way that guy is a black belt in judo.

  • I just hated seeing them. jumping around, entering the mats without bowing. That's a huge sign of disrespect. sorry for the wrong grammar.

  • I just hated seeing them. jumping around, entering the mats without bowing. That's a huge sign of disrespect.

  • Beautiful Jiu Jitsu.

  • white against blue? This isn´t fighter but lam . But if this was a competiton, you couldn´t know, which of Enemies you get :)

  • @arctrooper he was in the white corner, so you wear white betl usually.

  • how is the judo guy a black belt when he is wearing a white one....

  • great technique,,, but the bjj teammates were disrespectful running onto the mat.

  • @bizkitninja

I'm sure you're right if we look it from Judo-guys angle, but BJJ has always been easy going martial art.

For example Sergio Moraes thinks that best way to learn is that a person doesn't want to be anywhere else than training. When BJJ guys train, they always tell jokes and have fun time while practising. So from BJJ-guys angle it's not so big deal. Good point though. :)

  • What is the difference between judo and jiu jitsu ?

  • @fightclubmeber8 judo is mainly throws, with a little bit of ground work. depending on where you train. jiujitsu is basically ground work, with a little bit of throws.. funny story, I've heard a Black belt in Judo is basically a BJJ blue belt on the ground.... this video, not the case.

  • @madeku I'm honestly curious. I've trained Gracie BJJ for awhile and was taught the basics of judo, o-soto-gari, etc. – was wondering how much groundwork judo players had, because while some of the wrist/armlocks/ groundwork looked similar, for the most part from my perspective, judo = throws. Care to enlighten?

  • @thepengestration in all honesty i have no idea i'm no expert on either style. altho i did bjj for several months and trained off and on with some blue belt friends for a while.. i do know judo = throws. but they do have some ground work and pins, arm bars and the like. i believe they had more "back in the day". when it was more like japanese jujitsu, before it became more sport oriented.. then Helio took what he learned and expounded on the ground game even more. yer better off reading on it.

  • I honestly dont think the Judoka was a Black Belt... First, why is he wearing a white belt? Second, the way his stance was as they began the fight proves to me he is not an experienced Judoka... and way too slow... As they go on the mat he just leaves his arm out there??? Cmon!!! Armbars are just as much part of Judo as they are in BJJ... and the Judoka just gives him his arm like that??? No Way...

Dont upload videos and misrepresent the truth.. Both sports are great. but u dont have to lie.

  • @zzrob27 the only reason i can think of is since its a BJJ tournament he wore white. other than that he didn't move like any kind of legit black belt. the blue belt was a beast. but that win was a little to quick for 2 experienced competitors.

  • @zzrob27 He's obviously not white belt i believe he's black belt look closer he had some reason to wear white belt

  • @zzrob27 I really agree with you. Good comments

  • @zzrob27 he might wears the white belt in order that the judge is able to keep them apart. But you're right his method isn't as good as the method of a standard black belt judoka.

furthermore I don't believe that one of the two MA's is better than the other... although i prefer Judo!
