  • Hard to believe that that monster of a voice came from skinny soft spoken Layne; what a talent he was.

  • R.I.P Layne!!!!!!!!

  • RIP Layne & Mike~

  • Was Layne hyperactive or bi-polar? He's like all over the place here. Still, love his voice.

  • @stefan103 Its called drugs.......

  • @stefan103 What do you mean was he hyperactive or bipolar? He was a drug addict. He slowly became a hollow shell and didn't move much. In such shows as kansas city 1996. This is '93. He was still in his prime. Check out the '92 hollywood show and the '92 oakland show. He's all over the place in his younger days. His most active is probably the amphitheatre in '89.

  • fuck me backwards that voice is amazing!

  • It makes me happy to know that just after this performance, Layne smacked the shit out of a fucking nazi bastard.

  • no matter how bad the recording's quality his voice kills.. i have no words to describe how this bad quality video gives me goose pumps.. he was just doing its job as he used to say. well he did god damn well!!!!!!!

  • We use to crank this before we would go on tour looking for rag heads, this song means so much to me and always will.

  • What two queers disliked this. GO FUCK YOUR DAD

  • He has the most handsome voice unlike today everyone is autotuned I grew up with them rip layne stayley

  • gloria send me pictures of my boy

  • Godly.

  • 3:20-3:50 gives me goose bumps. Love this fucking song

  • thank God for alice in chains and for the talent of layne...GBH (godblesshim)

  • 3:20 mark - wow!

  • Listen, I'm glad all you "born in the 90s" babies appreciate Alice in Chains, but if you weren't 16+ in 1996, go sit and spin

  • @xOxBigJayxOx In 1996 there was shit music.Look at this video this is 1993 and kurt cobain died in 94 soundgarden broke up around the same time.bush, tool, red hot chili peppers, radiohead, oasis, weezer came out with there first album before 96 so did beck. What the fuck was in 96? The spice girls? Mariah Carey? Im just curious about what music youre thinking of from 96.That was after grunge was already dead and if you arent talking about grunge then why are you watching alice in chains?

  • @IHMAIWTD69 pantera put out great southern trendkill, and sepultura had roots. that was a great year. compared to 2001-present

  • @axllovesslash That guy has shit taste for music. Pantera-GST, Rage Against the Machine-Evil Empire, and I think Sublime's Major Label debut were all 96. And wasn't AIC's 3 legged dog album 96 as well? If not, I know the AIC Unplugged, which is one of the best live performances ever recorded by any band, was certainly 96.

  • @axllovesslash Compared to 2001 to present yeah definitely. What happened to real music?

  • @IHMAIWTD69 acid bath - paegan terrorism tactics was a good one, freak show by silverchair, AS by MM so fuck you.

  • @DancingMedicineMan You found a whole 3 songs.Good job buddy! you want a cookie? You deserve a reward! In fact you deserve a nobel fucking peace prize! Your parents must be so proud I mean damn you really showed me.A whole 3 songs I mean seriously....You name 3 songs to try to prove me wrong.Out of the THOUSANDS of shitty songs in that period of time you name 3 DECENT not good just decent songs. Then say fuck you.You my friend are an idiot.

  • @IHMAIWTD69 Um...Clearly you are confused - i named ALBUMS not songs ya thick cunt. Those albums are much better to listen to instead of todays modern junk, but you're prolly so brain washed sounds are just sounds to you innit? Shot bro.

  • @xOxBigJayxOx Fuck you punk bitch. I'm 17 now and i would slap the shit out of you and make you sit and spin and your faggot ass dad.

  • God damn, his voice, it just gets me....

  • Layne Staley > Every Singer Today

  • @dustinloving123

Every sing today could include some bands that r still together or epic bands from the 90's like Tool, RATM, Soundgarden and many others.

  • "that felt good"

  • What an expressive voice, sometimes I wish my vox were this incredible so I could penetrate souls with my inner feelings.

  • 2:17

  • Layne Staley had an all time great voice.

  • if i could find out who the 2 people are that dislike this id find them and beat the fucking life out of them....then id shit down their throat.

  • it's just so unbelievable, that they sound live so fucking good, especially Layne's voice!!!! I mean, there are so many bands, that sound live so crappy, that you feel embarrassed for them. But AIC are one of those bands that sound awesome on the record and even better live!!!

  • turned this video on and went to wikipedia layne...nd i ended up forgetting this was live.

  • 2 people are bozos!!!!!!!!!!

  • maybe another seattle grunge scene will happen in the future, we can only hope from the shitty music nowadays, but probably not- grunge is dead...... too many people brainwashed from the shitty music of today

  • Guys like him and Robert Plant, their larynx and other factors are super-human. Done.

  • @HalfpennyCat robert plant's larynx was made of diamonds, never seen such a crystalin voice. other supra-human laryng is eddie vedders, he must carry two of them... and he chooses, i want to sing high *click*, now low *click*

  • Come back Layne!

  • @cmonabear I wish god and his "holy" powers would ressurect Layne.

  • @EposEffekte Right on!

  • layne staley better than kurt cobain.....i think so

  • @warholatyler I agree.

  • Layne Staley will live forever!

  • 3:20 - 3:32

    Why is he dead.

There are no voices like he has.

    RIP Layne.

  • oh my god i miss layne...damit

  • I would pay for laynes vocal chords...

  • puro talento

  • LIKE/DISLIKE BAR: PURE BULLSHIT

  • Always missing LAYNE (RIP)

  • R.I.P. Mike Starr

  • @LosingGodMetal

    This is Mike Inez

  • @zukev1

True, but Starr wrote the bass line. Which is pure gold.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Yes but thats not Mike Starr, he left in 92. This is MIke Inez Stars replacment in 93 after the release of the (Dirt) Album

  • @LosingGodMetal ...and layne staley.

  • Comment removed

  • and I just want so say that I WAS THERE! =) grrrreat concert

  • 2:13 Lord have mercy!

  • ugh....so unbelievably talented with a voice that penetrates the deepest depths of his troubled soul. Man I wonder would we ever see anything like this again? RIP my brother. Your memory will always live on.

  • outstanding

  • 80s : Metallica - Iron Maiden - Slayer - Megadeth

90:s Pantera- Alice in chains - Nirvana

  • @Swedishguitarist94 you forgot Guns N' Roses my friend.

  • @Swedishguitarist94 wheres GNR?

  • I just saw the video of william duvall singing this song in rock em ring...ppl praised him ...they r saying he is the best possible replacement...i cant agree.... YES NO ONE CAN REPLACE LAYNE ....but i guess there should be better vocs than duvall ....cant feel the pain when duvall sings the songs....Im a HUGE AIC fan ....It would have been better if jerry kept singing..... Dont start bashing me cuz I dont like Duvall.... I'l be worshiping AIC till death

  • Fuck i had no idea he died in 2002... ive loved this band for so long and didnt even realise there was a new singer now... i feel like a giant failure...

    I love this song. <3

R.I.P. Layne, your voice is beautiful.

  • 2 People that watched this need to be shot.

  • Ya man...I got to see these guys in Albuquerque. Was in high school 91-94, some of the best years ever. Great music, great times. Don't worry tho all you teens, it'll come around again. It always does. AIC was and still is one of the best around

  • @bpurvis681 I hope you are rit man....im 21 now....i hate the present music scene ...all my fav bands are from 70s - early 90s..... some ppl say they wanna get back to 80s when the big hair metal was alive...i would say fuck tht cheesy crap...either the 70s wit Led Zepp or 90s with AIC ............

  • This song is about a guy named Rooster, who is in Vietnam. The commies are trying to kill him, but he ain't gonna die. Remember when Beavis and Butthead reviewed this video? Why are all the really good bands filled with self-destructive junkies? I guess dumb people like Paris Hilton and Justin Beenie are too dumb to have low self-esteem.

  • @mikedonn71 nooo its about jerrys dad who was in Vietnam, rooster was what the vc called the us because the us wore a patch resembling an eagle but because there are no eagles in nam, the vc called them what they thought they looked like which was a rooster

  • I seen these guys in concert on 3 separate occasions, they only got better and better every time!!! Layne was most definitely one of the best singers of all time! It's so sad that he is gone! But his music and his vocals will live on forever. Grunge just wasn't grunge without the soul touching, heart stopping voice of Layne>

  • Comment removed

  • music now reminds me of the sad state of affairs in the 80's. A lot of candy pop shit. Then cam the 90's. AHHHHHH. Real soul stuff. So i expect as a backlash to todays pop shit list, a new wave of kick as bands will emerge and retaiiate in the not so distant future. I hope!

  • Layne is the man!!! always will be!!!

  • I wish I was born in the early 80's or late 70's so I could go to this show, cause I live really near to this place. :(. It's sad that there's nothing worth going to a live show for. I'm 15 by the way.

  • priceless video

  • Soundgarden's music didn't transfer well to the stage at Lollapalooza. Rather boring gig. AIC is the best to come from Seattle during the 90s.

  • he actually sounds pretty awesome here. later on his voice starts to become weaker live.

  • @hotpinkbunny27 yea, your'e right but I still always thought Layne had an awesome voice all his life, it was still great in the end even if it was a bit weaker. I mean compare to Chris Cornell, that guy can barely sing anymore, sounds pretty bad live imo

  • @NearDark87 yeah. youre right. it was the drugs. poor guy.

  • he looked really fucked up in this

  • @qwertycommunicator Not really..

  • @qwertycommunicator I disagree.

  • I'm getting to be an old man now but - I did get to see alice in chains, pearl jam, nirvana, rage against the machine, soundgarden and so on in their prime. So for that, I'll take the grey hair. There's nobody out now that can compete with those dudes.

  • @vertigostewert did you see Metallica with cliff burton?

  • everyone wants what they can't have...just enjoy the music, no matter how old you are. your kids will be amazed at the bands you saw...no matter who they were.

  • that's so fucking true!

  • in mexico the word rooster in spanish is "gallo" and gallo is a nick for joint

  • i was there :)

  • @mrtwig80 i envy u i saw they with duvall in march it was an amazing comeback but i wish i saw the legend himself

  • Tool, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple, Nirvana, Better than Ezra, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden. WHY THE FUCK WAS I BORN IN 93 i'm pissed. i would do anything to see the orginal chains

  • i was born in 91 god the 90's we're the best, wish i could go back.. rip Layne " u r missed a great deal"

  • I remember visiting my brother at U of W in 92 and getting to see Alice in Chains in a small club in Seattle with maybe 100 people in it. Totally feel for you guys that were born that year or later and missed out on this genre of music. But don't feel bad, I always felt I missed out on Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. in their hey days by being born a few years too late. Next gen will be pissed they missed out on My Chemical Romance and Hoobastank etc.

  • back in the day, you go see these guys live and it would sound AS good as the album or in most cases like 10x better. the bands you go see now-a-days, your like wtf? this sounds like shit, dont sound nothing like the album

  • is there a more powerful voice on the planet than layne this song and would were made for his voice and down in the hole as well he's just brilliant.

  • fuck am i glad i was a teenager in the 90's!! this brings back so many memories...

when rock was real... unlike this new Breaking benjamin pop bullshit... fuck those new bands with their bullshit sound.

  • way better than nirvana

  • This isn't Grunge. Grunge is a stupid term like Emo. This is just straight up rock. It's what all rock should be like. Soundgarden, Tool, STP, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, etc

  • @420Guitar420 and NIRVANA, dude!

  • i was born in 91 and am pissed THE FUCK OFF that im in an era of lady gaga and that bull shit. the music scene at the moment is beyond the level of shit.....its pathetic.....

  • Omg what an idiot, this ain't metal you fucking idiot. This is Grunge the most unique form of music in my eyes. It's special like you, your special too Blazed24sevn but in a different way. I was born in Grunge I will die in Grunge....

  • Quite possibly the greatest band ever. wish i couldve seen them before Layne died

  • was this before or after mike starr left..its looks like after but him and Inez look so fuckin similar on stage i cant tell...

  • Wow!! Most live performances sound nothing like recordings. Not so here. Wish I could see em' live.

  • ah layne you could do anything. i miss you so much. that voice goes through my whole body & into my soul, as always.

  • what. a. voice.

  • for all you smart asses layne died in the 2000's so yes i got to see him 3 times and yes i was at a nirvana concert when i was 10. whats the big deal i sat on my dads shoulders.

  • That's Rock "n" Roll... At it's finest!

  • Grunge is a part of rock you idiot xDD Like Metal is also a part of Rock, They are smaller threads in a big net. so they are a part of something big =D

  • @lgcmetallica

That has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard; you can be a poser in ANY genre of music...

And news flash, buddy... "grunge" is still a branch off of the "rock" tree.

  • This is considered rock too!

  • @blazed24sevn This is rock?

  • @rusteeeeeeeeeeeeeeez its metal... which is considered a part of rock... so yes!

  • @rusteeeeeeeeeeeeeeez its metal... which is considered a part of rock... so yes!

  • good for you?

  • god that 1st intro scream makes this song. so much enrgy. to bad just about every good band from the 90's are fuckin dead. all i have is soundgarden pearl jam and tool.

  • man, layne is a special dude. his voice sounds exactly the same as it does on cd. its a shame he died.

    RIP. layne

  • The bullet SCREAMED at me from somewhurr.

  • heroin sucks!!! What a loss

  • DIRT one of my favourite, hell! all of them are.

the intro, layne's scream, emotion.. indescribable

  • so much fking raw power were does it all come from!!

  • he got so skinny before he died. 87 lbs. at 6'1 when they found him dead 2 weeks after his death on the sofa,, he was so wonderful. heroin only kills pain in the heart...not in the body... r.i.p.

  • on his deathbed or not, his voice never changed. he always sung amazing right til he died.

  • good video, sad to see layne this way......

  • he says "that felt good" after bitch slapping the nazi, i believe

  • i was born at the worst possible time...92...i find out about all these awesome bands when im old enough and cant even go see them now..cant see layne...cant see dime...wtf!

  • same with me man... if only i was a teenager in the late 80's

  • I feel exactly the same way

  • SAME HERE I WAS BORN IN THE SAME YEAR

  • i was born in 83' so i got to see them all i seen AiC three times, nirvana twice, and pearl jam once. Nirvana was my favorite concert though cause kurt smiled at me after i waved at him in an intermission right after he played heart shaped box in 93'

  • I was born in 1980, so that would have made you like 10 in 1993, thats really young to be at a concert like that, but if you were, you were definatley lucky, wish I would have but I was 13 in 93" & into other things

  • Wow dude thats so fuckin lucky i would kill to be there.

  • sure, you were 10 and at a Nirvana concert. we believe you, especially because there is no way to verify it and nobody ever lies at the interwebs.

  • thats dope.

  • @cmoncalian i was born in 92 too. it sucks. especially when you live in the bay area like i do with ppl who know nothing about good music

  • @cmoncalian I feel ya man. Born in 91. I was only a toddler when the Chains, Soundgarden, and Nirvana were kicking ass....dammet. I think I appreciate their music more though since I never saw them or anything. I am proud to say I have grown up listening to em.

  • @cmoncalian Dude, i meant to hit vote up, but fucked up and hit down, im sorry, i was born in 94. and i agree totally with you lol

  • @cmoncalian me too, it sucks balls

  • @cmoncalian So true, sucks

  • @cmoncalian Same here, and i agree 100 percent with you, Especially when it comes to Dimebag and Layne!

  • @cmoncalian

i feel you dude, i was born in 96 and am seriously fuckin pissed that everyone one i know loves all the new shit and not classic stuff like this....good thing i can still see TOOL though hehe.....

  • @faceomlette wow man someone 6 years younger than me likes TOOL. I wish all the other kids had your taste dude

  • @faceomlette I'm born in 96 to... I'm pissed that everyone else my age lives their life in this generation so perfectly and give no respect to people who worked, wrote their music, put talent into it, etc... like alice in chains, van halen, def leppard, etc... I'm friends with this one girl and she says she doesn't like rockers and that their "eewww" because of the music they listen to. Fuck her, that isn't right to say that shit about people because they chose good music to listen to...

  • @cmoncalian i know the feeling, i was born in 93. sux balls. id give my left nut to of been born any time betwean 1965-1970.

  • It's okay,you get Justin Beiber....

  • @99daveo LOL that made me laugh.. good one..

  • @cmoncalian Me too man, I was born in 92 too. And I'm a freak about all these bands, but I can still see some of my favorite bands, like KoRn and Deftones

  • @cmoncalian same man, im 6 years older than you but i would still rather have been born in the late 70's so i would get to see how thrash bands would progress through the 80's then see how music evolves in the 90's whilst still seeing metal bands live, and then seeing PanterA in there prime!! \m/ \m/ R.I.P DIME AND LAYNE!

  • @cmoncalian or brad nowell. times suck nowadays

  • @cmoncalian You might be one of the lucky ones?!?!

  • @cmoncalian i know!!! also sublime =(

  • @cmoncalian same here man. march of 92

  • @cmoncalian

Lets just hope, that its the same with music, but: Everything which was good, will come back some day!

  • @cmoncalian im 11 i hate my age i missed all the good bands

  • @Bradenx13 yeahh....but you have limewire =]

  • @cmoncalian i feel ya... 95 :/

  • @cmoncalian I know exactly how you feel buddy. I was born in 92 also and now we are stuck with bullshit like Justin Beiber and Taylor Swift WTF!?

  • @suicidal216 and @cmoncalin damn straight jb and taylor swift can die for all i care

  • @suicidal216 fuckin sucks right

  • @cmoncalian "it's better to burn out than to fade away" ;)

  • @15benc nope I don't. did I even mention the name Kurt cobain. nope.

  • @cmoncalian dimebag was a fuckin legend man
