That car is "BUTT UGLY" and the interior looks 60's and crap but most of all, It's not a "Landy" and as soon as it leaves a manufactured road surface it's about as much use as an Hand Brake on a canoe ! The Range Rover Sport HSE takes the piss out of it and doesn't need roads !
SSC Aero- A Lamborghini Diablo kit car that handles like a freight train. Koenig- Slower, see the Top Gear spin. Hayabusa- Can't stop or corner like a 4-wheel. The Veyron is the jack of all trades megacar, it does the most things the best. If you want to name any car as "better", you can probably point to a glaring flaw in that car that the Veyron doesn't share.
@7j8i9m Oh but the Veyron certainly has flaws. How about cost vs performance? Weight? Relative Fuel efficiency in the supercar class? Appearance? ( I will admit that last one is subjective. But lots of people think it's an ugly car)
btw the SSC isn't a kit car. The guy behind it built kit cars. For a car having a smaller engine, half the cylinders and turbos, a fraction the R&D budget, it comes very close, within about 12mph, of the Veyron's top speed and cost 1/3 as much. Not too shabby.
not that I dont like these cars, but if I had to pick between a garage custom or one of these, the garage custom would win, because as driving is fun, it is not nearly as (I dont know the word..."complete" I guess) if you dont know the engine inside and out, put your love into its construction, with your own customization, your own tuning, you payed for each part, so you respect the power more...

That w16 could do so much more, but it would be absurd to put that in a production car. watch videos on how the veyron is made, the first time they tested the engine it glowed red and started melting the ventilation system in the building. crazy stuff right there.

One thing alot of people forget is that the mclaren was also a 3 seater. Didnt have an unlimited R&D budget. and was built in 3 sheds 5miles apart in woking. Mclaren didnt have the impressive MTC home that they do today. it just goes to show that brains over money will be just as good as anything a big manufacture can build. I so wish F1 got back to the days of where anyone with a few million pounds could compete
consuption of this car when ticking- taht means when you start it up and leave it like that is 8 mpg = 36 l/100km and when you put your foot down and hold it down consuption is less than 1 mpg = 286 l/100km so I would say around 300 litres pre 100km, that's 3 litres/ 1 km and at top speed 260 mph this car does 1km in 7 seconds, so 3 litres every 7 seconds, and top gear says fuel lasts for 12 min, so I say tank is around 300 l and you can drive 84 miles on tank, not bad - £300 for 84 miles :D

Umm, there are a couple tuner cars that came out in full race prep to Mosport and the engineers gave a 20 minute info session on the mclarens. They are not unstable and were designed to generate downforce after 190. And aerodynamically they were predicted to be stable in excess of 270 mph. So if someone wanted to turbo their 2 mill car and add 150 Hp and put a taller GR in then i think it will exceed 260 265 easy as it is rock solid at 241mph.
And dont forget, the F1 was designed what late 1980's? The veyron early 00's right? Thats 10 years of new technology and knowledge available, so i would say the achievement Mclaren did in 1991. Dont forget mclaren had the car running within 3 years after the initial sketch by gordon. Kudos for that.
Bugatti Veyron was build in 2005 'till 2008 now they don't build 'em anymore now they produce only Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport from 2009 and i hope they will never stop making them lol 20 Liters of gas to 100 km i would be better of driving a SUV or a truck still will eat less gas than that but hey speed comes with a price and i am willing to pay that :) if i had a 3.8 million to buy the car

True, but other engines won't behave near as tame during normal driving as this does. A big block V8 could do it easily, but its going to have a ridiculous cam and zero street manners. A turbo 6 could do it.. but its going to be running 30psi+ of boost and have a limited lifespan. The W16 quad turbo will be well behaved and probably last 200,000 miles or more.
@centermass85 Certainly lasting longer than a boosted v6 is the key, unless you could buy 20 v6 turbo model cars to 1 bugatti veyron...You wouldn't have the social status, but you would go fast for cheap. I know, I own a DSM. I would much rather spend $500 to replace a head to whatever these ridiculous machines cost. which reminds me, have you ever seen the motorcycle with 48 cylinders?

HEHE it says 20l per 100km. THAT is Not true ITS 100litters per 100km and the New one the Vip one which has 1500hs takes 120litters for 100KM. IF IT WAS 20l per 100kms that would be awosome the Mercedes s500 has 35l per 100km and that has 12 Cylinder Engine

@spencermel .Yeah,you see McLaren made the car out of Carbon Fibre which is 3 times lighter than metal.And McLaren made the F1 as fast as it can go.If you put two turbochargers in a car that fast and that light,it would be unstable and it will crash.The Bugatti is fat and big,has leather interior and all electronic devices.Bugatti wouldn't put all that stuff in but they had to because the Veyron will go too fast and kill the driver because it wasn't stable enough.

what about huge downforce,would that help? I know they need weight to put power down,but what about putting weight in front of car to balance,cuz mf1 is tail heavy because of MR layout. right?

Umm, there are a couple tuner cars that came out in full race prep to Mosport and the engineers gave a 20 minute info session on the mclarens. They are not unstable and were designed to generate downforce after 190. And aerodynamically they were predicted to be stable in excess of 270 mph. So if someone wanted to turbo their 2 mill car and add 150 Hp and put a taller GR in then i think it will exceed 260 265 easy as it is rock solid at 241mph.

And dont forget, the F1 was designed what late 1980's? The veyron early 00's right? Thats 10 years of new technology and knowledge available, so i would say the achievement Mclaren did in 1991. Dont forget mclaren had the car running within 3 years after the initial sketch by gordon. Kudos for that.

Bugatti started building cars in 1909,
Bugatti Veyron was build in 2005 'till 2008 now they don't build 'em anymore now they produce only Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport from 2009 and i hope they will never stop making them lol 20 Liters of gas to 100 km i would be better of driving a SUV or a truck still will eat less gas than that but hey speed comes with a price and i am willing to pay that :) if i had a 3.8 million to buy the car

@TriopRC - The Veyron looks like a s*** bug compared to the McLaren's graceful lines. Of course it will be quicker having that ridiculous 16 cylinder W configuration engine, 4 turbochargers and all wheel drive. Plus the McLaren is 10 years older? Hello?? Basic physics will tell you its going to be faster in a straight line. You didn't have to "refer" to Top Gear to figure that out unless you were just a typical fanboy who thinks fastest and biggest are cool to compensate for your small wang!

Comparing the two? well the McLaren IS slower and the Bugatti IS faster. BUT that is factory standards. F1 is unfortunately Naturally Aspirated. Taking this into argument you are comparing apples with oranges. Since you have seen the two compete on "TOP GEAR" which means you know know everything about cars? Well did you know that a twin turbo McLaren F1 produces well over 1000hp+. So then you also know that the Bugatti weights twice as much as the F1...
And you wanna talk about faster?

Before 17 years his dream become true... 17 years after McLaren F1 is the most legendary SuperCar of all time... in entire automotive history... and nothing cant change that. Today... still... fastest Naturally Aspirated SuperCar ever made.
Bugatti is faster, but nothing cant change the history... only numbers are different... Agree with you about speeds.

I just like Mcclaren better to the fact that Mcclaren is all about racing. Every car they have made has really been though extremely well to reduce Weight. This Bugatti is HEAVY!! and the 16 cyl engine really isn't necessary. To many moving parts and sucks gas to the extremes. Not meaning to hate on bugatti. They have made an awesome car. Its just to big for me however One car I really like is the Mcclaren MP4.

True, but other engines won't behave near as tame during normal driving as this does. A big block V8 could do it easily, but its going to have a ridiculous cam and zero street manners. A turbo 6 could do it.. but its going to be running 30psi+ of boost and have a limited lifespan. The W16 quad turbo will be well behaved and probably last 200,000 miles or more.

@centermass85 Certainly lasting longer than a boosted v6 is the key, unless you could buy 20 v6 turbo model cars to 1 bugatti veyron...You wouldn't have the social status, but you would go fast for cheap. I know, I own a DSM. I would much rather spend $500 to replace a head to whatever these ridiculous machines cost. which reminds me, have you ever seen the motorcycle with 48 cylinders?
