I was leaving a comment to say I enjoyed a video. I used the word costume as in meaning Native Dress.  The word regalia is normally used when talking about royalty. The definition of the way you are using it is finery or magnificent dress. I hardly think the word costume was worse than that and as they are to my mind performing in some way I thought the word costume was appropriate.....dear.

to my native people this IS magnificent or fancy dress. true, the definition of the word costume is to convey a character or tell a story of a certain ppl, nation, or time period which dance does. however, since it does offend many ppl who think of costume as a more condesending term it would be better to just say regalia.
