When I take files off my card they are an .MTS file and I have to convert them using avs video converter. Am I doing something wrong or am I not using the right conversion?
3 questions, are cameras a good investment to spend more than $600 on? lol and can i use imovie from mac to edit? and last one, is it fast and simple to upload to youtube? thanks
@theoneandonlymeyupyu Well, electronics are never a very good investment since all electronics drop in price pretty quickly. But if you spend more than $600, it will last you a pretty long time. I have never used iMovie, but I know that a lot of people use it to edit their videos. Uploading videos to YouTube is very simple. Especially now that there isn't a time limit. However, the speed at which you upload will depend on your Internet connection.
Can you tell me the difference between MXP mode (24Mbps) and FXP mode (17Mbps)? Both are HD, right? Does this show on the 1080p TV? Because MXP mode takes lots of SD card memory, and very hard to find a software to edit?
Should video quality still okay if shoot in FXP mode? Thank you very much!
@khoiquach You point out an interesting point. Both MXP and FXP modes are 1080p resolution. The only difference is the rate at which they capture data. The MXP captures at 24 Mbps and the FXP captures at 17 Mbps. Theoretically the MXP format is supposed to be higher quality. However, you may not be able to notice this difference. The MXP format is known to cause some issues with playback and video editing programs. However, most software and computers are able to handle the FXP format.
@SuperPonyProductions After using the camera for many different videos, I would gladly recommend this product. What you see is the camera with the out of box settings shooting in auto.
@cookiemonsterfanatic I bought two 16GB SD cards for storage. I also bought the huge 3000 mah battery. And if you don't have a tripod, get one of those. Finally, I care a lot about sound quality so I bought Canon's attachable shotgun mic.
@youngflyer12 What exactly is the attachable microphone called. The sounds are amazing, and I am looking into buying one as well. Also, are they availible at your local tech stores or even at a Best Buy or Circut City?
@NickWood07 Actually, I am pretty sure I did not use the separate microphone for this video. This video used the Canon's built in stereo speakers. However, you can check out my other channel tyoung5ND where every video I made used the atachable mic. The mic is called Canon DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone for HF/HG Series Camcorders. I bought mine on Amazon. However, you would have to check with local stores to see about availability. Didn't Circuit City go out of business?
this looks good, i just bought the same camera about a week ago n love it.. i just put up a vid of a train goin by my house. after watching your video i wish i woulda remembered the powered IS button lol

Thanks for the demonstration, it's really helpful...
Were you using the microphone that came with the camera or an external mic?

@Frezzy465 This video used the standard integrated microphone. I later purchased Canon's external shotgun mic and have been very happy with it.
