Climate change isn't gonna be extreme enough for that -- even at its very worst (Wiping out humanity and most other species) it would still not destroy the planet and in a few million years there would be plenty of new species.
But besides that, humanity isn't pathetic. Some humans are, in fact pathetic and can also be absolutly terrable monsters but humanity as a while isn't.
