i think in the movie the person actually from this play was singing it because it sounds exactly the same and thats the part exactly what they played in the movie like they just played this part but clips of the guy in the movie lip singing

And yes, the Tale Musical going to Broadway looks like they were confused which book about the French rev. they were writing about (or other musicals!!) The Scarlet Pimpernel, Les Mis, and Tale!

but the song is from A Simple Wish. there's another version of it in the movie too, during the audition scene. you can't find this song on a soundtrack, i don't think, so i had to extract the audio. :(
