there is a way to improve the overall lighting just a tiny bit in AE... and it will help a small bit, but nothing compared to having good lighting in the first place... go to effects and presets, and look for the "curves" preset... play around with that... and it should help... my outro tutorial is currently in line to be tutorial number six... so be patient and it will come...
