gary is also an amazing solo pianist, his piano tribute album to holdsworth is magical, and his piano solo on IOU's 'temporary fault' is one of the most poetic, simple (sparse) and lyrical piano solos from a fusion album
It's a misnomer to believe that all drummers should engage in soloing. Gary's a primary example of an excellent ensemble player who should avoid soloing like the plague.
naleyan you are sooooooooooo wrong, look forward to hearing your stuff. Bet you don't put any up, go on do it !! When you understand a bit more about artists and how musicians work, then it might help you 'understand' a bit more than what you have indicated here. Learning other instrument make you a deeper drummer and re-affirms all that knowledge, try learning another instrument please you will see . In the meantime lets hear your stuff.
he doesnt switch well from normal to open hand u can see his face contorting having to processs the info. Never been a fan I thought he was great on Level 42 album starign at the sun, but i dont think u can be at ur best as a drummer playing other instruments as they are all different wasys of thinking & thats why I think hes not a good drummer any more cos his hearts not in it, hes chasing money by making his own albums but a time has to come where u realise songs is what music has always been
@naleyan Capitalization, punctuation and spelling are your friends. Music -- apparently not. Keep that day job, naleyan. You sure have some abysmal tripe on your channel. Trog would approve, though.
As always - pure wizardry from Gary. ...truly one of the best.
@naleyan Booooo. Stop desperately searching for imperfections. Close your eyes and listen to the music. And who says you can't be a multi-instrumentalist and not have your heart in all the instruments you play? Mark King started off as a passionate drummer, and now he's one of the best bassists ever (the best in my book). And making your own albums isn't done as a means of making money. It's done to put your music and your art out into the world to share. So just shh.
@StrawberryJungle im sorry mate but guys like husband have been milking arts council funding for years, shouldnt the arts council give us musicians to look up to rather than ones that take music back in time, lets get bands back in clubs & pubs & get these one trick ponies to learn their trade. They have silver spoons up their arses, joe marrello was doing solos like this back in the 50s
Oh put a sock in it man! Nothing better to do than continually boo off and trash everything Gary Husband does and any video posted of him playing? And for the record, perhaps you'd like to once and for all understand something - Gary Husband has received a Contemporary Music Network (Arts Council) grant ONCE(!) - for the Gary Husband's Force Majeure project of 2004. All of his other projects and albums are self-funded. So you detest it all. Fine, we've got the message!
Great musician!
